Whitetail Bums | Texas Public Land Bow Hunting Double!

Ойын-сауық

In this video Michael Stoll, Eric Gentry, And Greg Latham share their story of bow hunting Texas public land. There are plenty of High's and many lows but on Texas public you do whatever it's gonna take. Rattling, grunting, tucking into a downed tree in an ol' chair, just trying to get into bow range on some of the hardest public land bucks in America.

I hated, HATED, the 13" rule here in East Texas when it first came out. I was like a lot of ppl, thinking, "they just don't get that big here". But now that it has been in place for several yrs, I have taken some really nice bucks. BIggest to date is 150 6/8". It is doing some good. Great video guys. Love y'all being in East Texas!

Are you using gun or archery, and do you if the area in this video is archery only?

I have no idea exactly where they are in this video. But I believe most public land is archery or gun, unless it's bow only season. I mainly hunt on private family land and a lease that I'm on. I do hunt national forest in other counties if I tag out in my primary county, and I typically only hunt bow on the national forest.

@@texasson most of them are gun or archery but I've found archery only areas on the tpwd map i don't remember if it's in the east though might be in central Texas.

Ya those antler restrictions can be annoying, but just remember its in place to help manage age classes in the population (decreases number of young deer harvested so they can have higher numbers of more mature deer)

Yeah, the restrictions for 13 in wide is kind of weird in my opinion. I get why they're doing it to get more mature deer. But here Missouri for antler restriction is, has to have four points on one side. That makes it a lot easier when trying to quickly make a decision.

In East Texas it's all Public. Because nobody respects private property or boundaries. So to be honest I actually prefer hunting the big tracts of public land that we have because most people are too lazy to go in as far as I will and they are too busy driving and poaching from the roads at night or trespassing to actually put in the work on the public
