This was even more intimidating in the manga. Imagine someone who you just melted half their organs and half of their _face_ and their reaction is to grab you by the throat and look up as if asking if you're done yet.

In fact, in manga WB didn't grab Akainu's neck or toss him. WB cheap shotted Akainu from behind, but Akainu immediately contraattacked back melting WB's part of head, as WB dodged or else headless Beard=Akainu's oneshot despite WB's cheap attack. Then WB immediately contraattacked back to Akainu's body, destroying MF, where we saw Akainu being immovable for mere secs, then making hole in the ground and keeping to walk

I have a prediction. Luffy will have some altercation with Akainu, but he will not be the one to beat him. I predict that will be Sabo's role. Basically Sabo will step in and interrupt the fight between Luffy and Akainu so that Luffy can take on bigger fish.

Maybe you should take a look at the manga. Akainu was slaughtering WB until he sneak attacked him with a Gura Punch. Even after all those island shattering attacks Akainu came back 2 chapters later with litterally no serious Injuries to hunt Whitebeard's commanders. That's one of the best Durability feats in the series. I bet you're gonna say "But he was old, weak and sick" Wb was still a monster in old age, in the Ace novels it has been stated that he could give Kaido and Big Mom an extremely difficult fight. EVEN IN OLD AGE. People need to stop underestimating Akainu and Old Whitebeard.
