Whistler Top to Bottom in Deep April Powder
Спорт
I was welcomed back to Whistler Blackcomb on April 4th with a 22cm spring pow dump. Although many mountains are closing down for the season and lot's of you are pulling out your bikes and golf clubs, Whistler's winter is just getting started. Of course, the lower mountain is getting a little bare, but the upper stuff is skiing incredibly. Even though we had to step on some soil, the turns were worth it. The real ski season starts in March and runs well through April. Stoked to back home and enjoying some of my favourite terrain in the world.

Seriously!!! Another epic ski day!!! I am a 69 year old guy from Ontario who can’t thank you enough for filming and sharing an epic 2023/2024 season. Even old guys live the dream to ski pow and sick lines even though their skis turn left to the groomers because their knees hurt and their heart says ski safe so you can ski into your 80’s!! You are the best!!!

Thanks for my Delivery, it’s HOT!! Also thanks for sticker. Love the videos not been to Canada for a few years now but visited many of the resorts, WBC, Banff, Rstoke, KH, it all brings back amazing memories and hope to visit again soon. My best memories was probably one of the harmony horseshoe maybe No5 or 7, it had a kind of ledge about 10 feet down, but was basically a sort of cliff entrance. Also Lake Louise exhibition lift line was a favorite, cheers.

Peak to Creek is an amazing run I'm surprised they don't groom it or have a few snow machines at the bottom. I skied it 5 weeks ago and didn't expect it to be moguls from top to bottom because it hadn't been groomed and I also had to dodge tops of bushes poking out of the snow. It looks like that part is completely melted out now.
Wow! I cant believe I missed that I was there on the 6th and the only good snow was in Mondays
Nice video 👍Looks like in the last couple of seasons riding always improved in Whistler closer to April. Previous season we had pow day almost every day in April, and it's been a blast!
@riseandalpine
Ай бұрын
April is always awesome because the precip keeps coming, temps are cold and the snow base is usually super deep
😂 Holy shot of Liquid Courage, I don’t know where to begin! First, I’m glad Matt didn’t get hurt, hope you recover the 360. That skiing was hard core. Lol I was laughing my ass off when you guys were on the rocks. That’s dedication! FWIW, I went grass skiing with grass skis once, and it was fun, but definitely different! Finally, I realize why you don’t worry about repairing scratches and all that shit. You’re just gonna roach them again! 😂 Great spring skiing!

Grass skiing? That would be hilarious to try. I think I've seen those with the wheels. Where in the world can you do that?
@flapjackson6077

The grass skis I used were about a meter long, and had belts on rollers. This was about 45 years ago at a little ski resort in PA. It was a summer thing. Every turn was a jump turn. It was fun but it ragged the shit out of us. Lol.
Bet Matt was feeling it the next day, that was a gnarly fall. Your videos are super sick only bad part about them is they make me jealous, lol, as a sask guy I only get to the mountains once or twice a year.

I always ski with a backpack that carries skis. Mounting them is simple and quick. It makes bootpacking so much easier and more comfortable. And it frees up both hands. I use it for any walk of meaningful distance.
@PatG-xd8qn

What's the brand of your backpack? The one I have since years sucks and I'm looking for a new one 😅
@riseandalpine

The backpack I wear allows me to a frame but I only usually do so in the backcountry. Usually bootpacks are so short I find I'd rather just pop it on the shoulder. But I'm always ready to a-frame if needed

I was hiking in Colorado in October when I saw a guy trail running with skis A-framed to his pack and boots attached to the skis. Must have been 4 miles and a thousand feet of vertical from the parking lot to the glacier. That's the type of person that could cycle that run.

Awesome as usual James! Haven't seen that topsheet on 108s before, where did you score those? Did you go with 186 or 191? Hey, are they replacing the damaged 114s or will you perform some surgery in the ski dungeon to bring them back to life? 😀
