WhiskyCast HD: Single Malt Whisky the Indian Way: A Visit to Amrut
India is one of the world's largest whisky-consuming nations, but never had a single malt whisky to call its own until the Jagdale family's Amrut Distillery in Bangalore produced the first Indian single malt in 2004. Originally available only in the UK, Amrut expressions are now available in 22 nations around the world...but only in one of India's 25 states...so far.

excuse my lack of whisky knowledge, but because it is a "malt" whisky does that mean they no longer use molasses?

They make both types at Amrut...the molasses-based type for domestic sales and the malt whisky for export and a limited amount of domestic sales.

The molasses is for the cheaper brands they make for Indian market, the amrut brand is same everywhere and is a single malt.

Amrut
This whisky is really bad, a very very poor attempt at creating a single malt, was so disappointed.
