Whisky Made in Denmark the Old Fashioned Way - Stauning Distillery

Whisky Made in Denmark the Old Fashioned Way - Stauning Distillery 2023
Today's video is Part 2 of my Stauning Whisky Distillery tour. It is fascinating to see whiskey make the old-fashioned way in Denmark. The distillery and all its components are mind-boggling, and it is so clean. The 16 copper pot stills are beautiful. The smoked whiskey is fascinating because they use peat and heather, and the bio-gas plant is very thoughtful for sustainability. I had no idea how much work goes into taking grain like barley and rye and turning it into an internationally acclaimed spirit. Thank you for watching! I hope you enjoy my video. Be sure to like and subscribe.
Stauning Whisky offers several single malt whiskies, including one smoked variety that burns heather for flavor. Stauning Whisky is available on Amazon.com, and they ship internationally.

My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am an 18-year-old, 4th-generation Montana farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great-grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion became a reality. I hope you love my products as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.

Miss Stephens, you never cease to amaze me. From your earlier blogs this year in Denmark , you started with a farm using robotics, then to a ranch/farm with livestock (porcine industry) and now a whiskey distiller. What do you have in store for us on your next blog? Maybe Danish cookies? or butter production? I like it better this way. Your blogs are in line with agriculture (farm to table) but it does not become boring because you delve on different subjects. Keep it up Kate. Thumbs up.

In Canada, we have a tradition you can participate in. We go to a distillery, buy one or two empty wooden barrels, take them home and fill them with water. Then you let it sit until it reaches the strength you desire. The end product is called Swish. We then take syringes, fill them with Swish, insert them into a watermelon or orange and then take the watermelon and or oranges to a rock concert. Good times are had by all. The closest Canadian Whiskey distillery to you would be in Calgary. If you are ever there, stop by, buy a barrel or two, and take them home and make some Swish.

This imo is BS , when i lived in windsor ont , Hiram Walkers Distillery on riverside dr used to burn the insides of the wooden barrels so you could not refill them and make Alchol, i bought 2 and was told this , only use for the barrels were to use them as plant pots ! Ty Kate 👍

That's a great video Kate! What a huge and beautiful company, especially those super beautiful boilers are beautiful to see. I have heard that some types of beer are also brewed in copper kettles. Those boilers were later replaced by a different material, but the taste was different and so copper strips were hung in them! As a chemistry teacher, I really enjoy being able to see a distillation in your video! In a few months I have to explain the distillation process in class, then I will definitely show a piece of this video! Lots of greetings, Marco

Just alittle but my good friend Warren (aka Mr Breeze) loves whiskey. Only top end products is what he tells me. Don't know about that, whiskey taste (mom told me if u don't have something good 2 say? ) so so 2 my taste buds. So good 2 see ur work & enjoying the world @ the same time. Never stop! Ur beautiful smile & international knowledge is 1 of the reasons l think ur the tops. See-ya

Wow, whisky from Denmark! I didn't know there was such a thing! I always think of Scotland, Ireland, Kentucky and Canada when I think of that stuff. And when people think of distilled spirits from Scandinavia, they usually think of Vodka. There's always something new under the sun! Thanks for an informative video!

Well Kate it looks like you just learned enough to build a still on your farm. When you find time I would suggest visiting a ethanol plant the process is similar. I invested in one in Indiana and it is much more involved in that they extract oil from corn and other byproducts . They dry the corn remnant to sell as feed for livestock . Enjoyed your video as always very interesting.

Wow. Neat to see how differently that other countries make whiskey. They even store the barrels differently than we do here. Our barrels/casks are not stacked upright on top of one another on a concrete floored enclosed building, but are stored on their sides in unheated un-airconditioned wooden rick/rack houses so that the heating and cooling of the days, nights and seasons and outdoor air naturally change their temperatures to mix the sugars/caramels from the charred casks with the whiskey. Neat info, Kate! Well done! :-)BTW, see those copper tube heat exchanger coolers at the discharge of those stills? One of my past jobs was to repair those!
