Whiskey-makers tell some of the best stories-and legendary bourbon distillers Jimmy Russell of Wild Turkey and Fred Noe of Jim Beam are no exception. The two men have been friends for a long time; Jimmy watched Fred grow up in the industry and has acted as a father figure to him, especially since Fred’s dad, Booker Noe, passed away in 2004. Just before WhiskyFest New York in 2017, they sat down to discuss their long friendship, the way bourbon has changed-and stayed the same-over the years, and what they see for the future of American whiskey.

yep.. White Label Evan Williams is not too bad at that price. Wild Turkey has a richer caramel taste and smoother.

The medical establishment needs to stand up to these powerful booze and tobacco companies. Consuming booze and smoking cigarettes contributes to more heart disease and clogged arteries than any junk food you can eat.

The future of American whiskey is now, and it's Gaelic in flavor. Regional distilleries are competing in the new American Single Malt category, which specifies a 100% malted barley mash, and 2 years in the barrel. Names like Del Bac, Swift and ASW are good to get on your radar. Jimmy Russell is an American treasure.

@4:30 and 8:30 and 10:00 Mr. Russell states Rare Breed is non-chill filtered even tho it's not mentioned on the label in 2022.

@@Cosmos_MarinerAgree! Seen those non chill vs chill filtered Turkey vids and thought the same. 😆 Initially i learned plenty from you tube but now rely on several different sources. Now I take ALL reviews with skepticism. "Craft" is code for very young whiskey and some the tasting notes are just plain made up. After getting burned sevetal times by the FOMO inciting clown reviewers I wised up and trust myself most. I use Elijah Craig, WT 101, BF Early Times or Coopers Craft, and Smoke Wagon as my bourbon standards and Pikesville for rye standard. These have destroyed tons of overpriced and overhyped bottles. Thanks for your response.

If the proof is above 95 or so then chill filtration is not necessary. When cut to 80 proof it would need to be chill filtered and none of them state "chill filtered" because most people don't know what it means. As stated the fatty acids are "dissolved" in the alcohol and when the alcohol % goes too low they come out of suspension and get cloudy.

if your going to make mixed drinks with ice, you want cold filtered, otherwise, no.
