Nice video! I've done a similar site set up but my door seems to have unbent when I cut it out. After installing the hinges, it doesn't close without a lot of effort. I think I need to slice out a wedge of the door where the hinges are ... am I on the right track?

Thanks! Have you done a full cabinet or a half cabinet? Once the door is cut out, it no longer has the tension in the steel bands to pull the wood tight, not a problem for a half barrel but the full barrel has the rest of the wood pulled in tight. Yes you're on the right track! That would work, I'd suggest trying this first: use a ratchet strap to pull the doors back into their original curve, then screw a curved support on the inside of the door to permanently hold the shape, you can use spare steel banding!

Would it work if you installed your hinges prior to cutting the door out? Any problem in doing that?

It would be interesting to try! The only problem I can think of is, if the barrel is whole (not cut in half), when the door is cut the expansion of the wood releases a lot of pressure (could bend/break the hinges). For the doors to open and close without getting stuck you will need a small gap at the hinge point to allow for movement!

Do you have a link to those brackets? They seem to work well, no?

Thank you so much!! I’m finally finishing up the barrel bar I’ve been working on for 3 years for my husband, and these look like they will be perfect! Next stop is to figure out brackets for the shelf and trying to get it level 🫣😅

Projects like these when made for yourself or someone dear to you take time, the desire to make it perfect is strong! A spirit level is your friend! try the 'L' type brackets I show in kzread.info/dash/bejne/a3l4j8Wxn6TAeKQ.html (4:45). Hope this helps and good luck! 😁

How wide is each door roughly

As wide as you like, as long as the barrel is wide enough! On the barrels I use the doors are approximately 25cm wide each, leaving a 50cm gap

How big are these hinges?

These ones are roughly 6 inches from tip to hinge 👍
