I have several bows and use both. Over time I've had more trouble with Drop-aways (springs break, activation chords breaking-that kind of stuff). The Whisker Biscuit is extremely accurate, but for target shooting a lot of arrows it can be harder on fletching. You also can't beat a Whisker Biscuit for simplicity and Arrow Capture.
Always look forward to these videos! Keep em coming
I have both styles and really like them, but the WB is the KING hands down.

Also by the nature of it, there are much less things that can go wrong with it. Sometimes less is more.
I saw a TV personality miss a hammer with a very popular drop away rest because the rest stayed cocked and didn't drop. He actually said out loud that if he was shooting a whisker biscuit he would have killed that deer.
I use a trophy ridge v biscuit and absolutely love it!
This is my first year bow hunting. I use the 3 prong whisker biscuit. I like it because it holds my arrow in place perfectly also it wasn't to expensive. Great video. God Bless from Oklahoma.
I shot lefty to begin with I also shot a bear paradox at 63lbs I used the rth w.b. put a react pro 5 pin site & had to move the sight to the opposite of the riser. I put a drop away & hand to move the site back to the correct side of the riser. Tuned the bow, paper tuned it, still hitting targets from 20-60yds.
I shoot whisker biscuit and been doing so since before drop away was popular in the hunting community. I am looking at getting vector custom arrows with four fletch but I’m worried about 4 vanes passing through. Any thoughts? I really want to try the three prong because I thought the point of the gap was to allow the vanes to pass through freely. Talked to a dealer and was told the arrow needs to be set to still pass the vanes through the bristles? Not sure?
The difference under 40 yards between the two can't even be measured because the arrow hits it's target in 1/2 a second (120') so if an average bow is shooting around 250', there's practically zero time for a deer to react. By the time it hears the string, something's gone through it already. So whoever can't take a deer with a whisker biscuit, trust me, it's not their bow that's wrong. Oh yeah, and whisker biscuits are quieter, don't require tuning and accuracy-wise, up to 40 yards, there is no difference.

Human reaction time is 2/10 of a second. Giving a pray animal over twice that time will absolutely result in a movement before impact. The sound of the fletchings hitting the whiskers is what I'm trying to eliminate.
@YankeeWoodcraft

@bugs825 As opposed to the sound of a drop away rest clicking when it drops or when the arrow bounces on the plastic? No deer is going to hear the sound of a whiskey biscuit 60 feet away in the wildness with all the birds singing and the squirrels running around and the wind in their ears. I've never heard of that happening unless someone was shooting with a poorly tuned bow where the shaft wasn't flying straight and that's going to be a miss anyway. That would be user error. 🙂
Rn i shoot the triangle whisker biscuit i wanna get a drop away in the future but hesitant because iv heard ppl say they can freeze up and qlot more can go wrong with them. Due to have moving parts
I had one of those three prongs on a bow I bought and it tore the heck out of the fletchings. Haven’t noticed it on a whisker biscuit but I’ve been doing drop always lately to just avoid it all together
Glad y’all are back! No Hamskea Primer on the list? *womp*womp* lol
I'm new to archery so what do I know but my bow came with a 3 prong whisker biscuit and shoots just fine for me
The second you made that Joe dirt joke I knew you guys are dope have a great week
What about other types? Such as triple brush type, prong horn and others. Please comment. Thank you.
I am a short man with a short draw length shooting max poundage. My arrow flight was getting messed up. Turns out the fletchings were beating the drop away due to the arrow being so much closer but still still fast at max poundage. I had to modify my drop away.

What draw length? In 27 and having vibration issues. I tried putting and indicator on the fletching and nothing hit the rest. The new was a lot smoother and maybe quieter with the biscuit
Fresh on the bow. Got a diamond octane from a friend. Hunted with a pump 760 game master an AR 5.56 for years now finally got me a stick slinger. Can’t wait to put it to Work. Just got to get the draw right. I was looking on KZread for good videos on how to do it myself. Any suggestions? Thanks fellas.

I have the cheapest version of trophy ridge v rest. It's has too hard of wiskers. But it works. I lost a fletching but it was from hitting my arrows in practice and knocking them off, lol
First off, chad is a nut lol. Second, I used to shoot a whisker biscut and it worked great. It wore out over time (probably 20,000 shots 🤷🏼♂️) and when i got a bow up grade I got a trophy ridge drop away and it is awesome

I used whisker biscuits for years and never had any trouble didn't have any troubles with my fletchings either just saying. I did have troubles with a drop away when they first come out and freezing rain it froze and wouldn't move. People say they solve that problem now I don't know I haven't used one since

That is a good point!
So all whisker biscuit disadvantages are "insignificant" for hunting, and its advantage is reliability. So the only reason for a drop away is target shooting at longer ranges? So they should be banned from hunter classes in competitions?
@adamo6641
3 жыл бұрын
it's just whatever you prefer there is no significant accuracy or speed difference, none of them should be "banned" that wouldn't make sense

I’ve shot a whisker biscuit for years and it’s really not that hard on my fletching. You’ll probably shoot more fletching off than tearing off with the biscuit. Either way learn to fletch arrows! No excuse for not learning how to fletch and it shouldn’t be that big of a deal. Fletching your own arrow is rewarding.
biscuit everyday, i have tried the drop aways and dont like them.
That drop away action is tempting, but the price.😩

I love the wisker biscuit wist some medium low long stif vanes you lose some speed bud you get more the same speed wat you dont get with the drop away also the arow spins faster with the wisker biscuit
I think whisker biscuits are less forgiving, and therefore pro for learning con for hunting
what about durability ?

Whisker biscuit is an outstanding hunting rest...where "repeated precision " is not necessary. Like indoor spots, shooting a golf ball size x ring 60 times in a row....although in the hands of a good shooter the whisker biscuit would shock the hell out of you there too.. but it wasn't designed for that. Even a large number of pros don't shoot drop away rests either. They shoot blade style target rest and for good reason. Simplicity. Moving parts eventually equal headaches. Simplicity, when functional, is king for both hunters and target archers. Drop aways, fall aways, limb driven rests all bridge the gap, and certainly have advantages. Blade style target rests have the advantages of no moving parts...but still have arrow contact the entire time....and have been used to set uncountable world records. So is having no contact with the arrow rest (drop away) the holy grail? Uh...no. The whisker biscuit also has the advantage of having zero moving parts. It's the ultimate in reliability. If the shooter knows what he/she is doing, it's also more than consistent enough to deliberately, repeatedly and consistently put ethical, accurate well placed shots on a game animal at any reasonable range..determined by the skills of the shooter. If (for hunters) the whisker biscuit does everything it needs to...nothing it doesn't, and is the epitome of reliability....then what are we really looking to prove? Both styles are exceptional. Use the tool for the job.
I know it’s stupid, but I appreciate you adding “and women” without it being a weird afterthought
whisker biscuit is king.keep it simple stupid applies to arrow rests. i have watched other videos comparing both types!! u might lose 2 to 3 ft per second with the biscuit which does not matter to most people..besides you can turn your bow upside down and your arrow still stays in the rest..i really dont know why anyone would prefer a drop away!! just my opinion!!
Don’t appreciate the sarcasum.

Couldn't watch the entire video, too much Goofy jargon.
The whisker biscuit is an ok rest with some good attributes. But equal in accuracy to a drop away? No way. I guarantee you that you won’t see one at high level archery shoots.
