Saw some pictures of the kerbs on Facebook earlier today after just one day. Look to have been shaved down massively due to everyone launching the kerbs. Seems like it's only a matter of time until they're basically smoothed down to nothing.
I think it would be a great section of track at most other circuits, but it does look like it affects the “flow” of the track to me, bit of the odd corner out. Seems like a bit much of a kart breaker too
Odds on them reverting to the old layout by end of the weekend? Surely they should have just opened up the corner and removed the monster kerb
I hereby name it "Bent Kart Bend" hahaha....disaatrous design and decision...

i think it was a safety thing, some kid got really hurt, so they had to change the design to make it safer

i agree with you its the worst bend ever made 2 chickanes in about 10 seconds ridicilous!! Its a go kart track and motorsport is dangerous.
Shouldn’t have got rid of the chippings. As soon as it was concreted, then it just became an extension of the racetrack.
You're talking absolute bobbins when you say it's a great move by whilton mill. They could have done something with the exit like put gravel or wood chip down, or even narrow the dummy grid to create more run off. Not ruin the flow of the track.
Did they not think of getting rid of the curb instead of destroying the track layout?

To get punted into the lamppost yeah 😅
Way back in the day they put new chicane kerbs like this in the back corner at Rowrah. I believe they’re still like this today
saw myself in this video watching the karts
Honestly I think they should have made the kerb taller, that way you’re even more encouraged to stay off of it and you jump too high to get a good landing so you don’t even gain any time
It looks like a change done solely for safety reasons because the old final corner (Paddock bend) was a real 'yeehaw' corner that was also a bit sketchy due to the modest concrete run-off and the close proximity of the pitwall. It has a pong of the Barcelona 2007 chicane - looks ugly and I can't see it being too popular with drivers, maybe I'll be proven wrong on that. For me, it would've been better opening the apex of Paddock bend or moving it earlier to increase the run-off and curving the start-finish straight.
I think the idea is right, i know people are going on about ruining the flow of the track but I don't think it does too much, it makes it even more technical which is always great but the execution is not amazing. That middle kerb was always going to be launched and has now made Whilton even more of a kart breaker then it was before. It should've been flatter to allow it to run or a longer hairpin possibly...
Kai is also a lot heavier than the cadet drivers so he can load the outside wheels more and glide over the curb easier

Awesome! Sound like a good start
It should be called the high heel 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
I think the flow of the last sector has sort of disappeared. I know it was a bit dangerous but maybe Whilton mill could’ve just moved the barrier back and/or adjusted the kerb . Despite the lack of cornering speed in the last corner, I hope it will brain out good racing
Wasn’t it MSUK who told them to do it??
The idea of the chicane is good, but it is way too sharp in my opinion
New chassis chicane
It just looks incredibly awkward on a track that otherwise has excellent flow
Terrible change
Upgrade? Do be serious
how to make a track even more boring than it already was
a chicane is a consequence of poor design
