    @@antonburdin9756 Oh I see, pardon me. I can only assume that they are, but I'm not a cardiologist. I would suggest that they're probably not useful for most doctors/surgeons, or at the very least I have never ever seen an electronic stethoscope outside a cardiology department, and even then it was a trainee that was using one, not a consultant. So to answer the question, yes, but probably only for a very small number of people.

    @@antonburdin9756 Invaluable in prehospital care at the roadside, in factories and other noisy environments where people inconveniently have accidents or take ill. A necessity for hearing impaired clinicians and responders. No tubing artefacts. More easily packed into a kit pouch. Might look less doctory, paramedicy, nursy or first respondery while using a purely electronic one such as Thinklabs One though. Carry spare buds or circumaural headphones with a good IP rating and keep on top of charging. Being highly pocketable has obvious advantages and disadvantages. I'm not sure about repairability. The Thinklabs is much more expensive in the UK than USA, so perhaps worth buying direct and paying import duty. There are some good comparison reviews of electronic stethoscopes on KZread.

    2:56 Classic range shown but annotated as Cardiology range. Classic II and Classic III are not the same as Cardiology II and III. The Classic range are monitoring stethoscopes. The Cardiology II, III and now IV are in a different range of diagnostic stethoscopes which will be of more utility throughout one's career. The Cardiology range as well as picking up more subtle bruits crepitus is better by the roadside and other noisy environments. Consider an electronic stethoscope if hearing-impaired.

    I mean, yes, I see the point that anything above Littmann Classic III is overkill for med students with little to no clinical training. But 1) stethoscopes can last many years, so you can over time develop the skills to match the instrument, and 2) the video does not acknowledge the med student with impaired hearing, for whom the Classic is insufficient.

  • @FrankEdavidson

    @FrankEdavidson

    11 ай бұрын

    It's not overkill really. Looking round the library and every student has multiple Apple devices, latest versions, some with fancy Wacoms, yet some grumble about buying even the cheapest stethoscopes for OSCEs so one wonders where priorities lie. Cheap out and one buys twice.
