In fairness he's talking about in star wars rules. In star wars any combat robot can be really skilled, but not great at high level thinking which is always their downfall. An issue which is somehow always corrected with non-combat droids like astromechs.

I think you're seariously undervaluing the CIS special forces, some of their units were incomparably superior to their rank and file troops. Both the Magnaguards and the droidekas posed a legitimate threat to jedi masters for christs sake, and the BX-series as shown in the clone wars series were unstoppable killing machines with advanced tactics that were superior to any but the very best individual clone. I don't consider super battle droids special forces btw, they are more like heavy infantry in my opinion.

College of Foliage Agreed, magna guards and commando droids are the special forces and pose legit threats to jedi, super battle droids are definitely the heavy infantry, however, you see an injured Rex and a deserter clone with limited weaponry defeat like 10-15 commando droids in the Clone Wars episode “The Deserter”

How about the diversity, ideals, and backgrounds of the various races. You have a diverse set of skills due to numerous different backgrounds, certain physiological differences open up new tactical options, and who can forget one of the rebellions best and most successful spec ops teams, Rogue Squadron? And yes, rogue squadron was in fact spec ops, and not uniquely a fighter squadron

If both and weren't in the rebellion, how would the rebels have gotten the plans, given that bothans are known to make really good spies. How about WOOKIEES with their incredible strength and endurance? How about the verpine who are a race on insectoid super engineers who are some of the best mechanics in the galaxy due to their compound eyes being able to see even the smallest flaw in a part? Let's add in the contributions of other notable races such as the skills of the ugnaughts in the fields of droid maintenance and repair, the sullustans with their intense knowledge of starship maintenance and combat, or even the contributions of the Mon Calamari who built the bulk of the Rebellions capital ships and served as natural leaders?

The issue I think he finds it it's hard to just rate the Rebels the worst at stuff since they beat the GE. But it's not a conventional war it's a guerilla war so he shouldn't feel bad to. The GE had a crazy amount of SpecOps because it gave book different run enemies so the sheer weight rates them high. Yet because good guys and plot, the rebel special forces get shitloads of successes basically did better than GE. So it's a weird thing where they have no training or special things, but they beat 1st place so what do you do?

Coruscanta a’den, mhi vode an! Gotta say, out of all the individual special forces units, I’d have to say the RC/IC would wipe the floor with anyone else. Personal shields, advanced armor, training from the best warriors the galaxy has ever seen. The Dark Troopers, specifically Phase III, are very deadly, but they’re still droids. Near every weapon in the Republic’s arsenal is geared towards fighting inorganic enemies. Their blasters give them a distinct advantage as well, seeing as they’re extremely flexible and able to comply to most situations’ needs.

In addition to that, they have instant reflexes, no hesitation or indecision, no empathy, can operate in any environment, can communicate and coordinate instantly+constantly with other droids, and can use the excess weight organic soldiers would need for life support (and internal organs) to store more armaments, shields, etc. With a nearby organic directing them, assassin droid squads armed with sniper rifles and grenade launchers would be outright terrifying to fight.

Droids would beat humans in everything but that would make star wars boring. Why werent the CIS droids mass produced when they are superior to the normal ones.

Even though a lot of people have already said it, I feel like adding my own two cents here when I say that the CIS were kinda downplayed here. First of all droids sure more durable then their clone counterparts, still being operable after losing limbs, or in some cases with more advanced models, their heads. Droids can adapt to any environment with ease, even in the vacuum of space. Also, there's a certain intimidation factor that comes with your enemies being droids. You can't appeal to them or reason with them. If they're sent to kill you, they won't stop until you're dead, or told otherwise. Compare that to the rebellion that honestly didn't really have special forces. Sure, they had spies, but they were a guerilla faction that relied a lot more on hit and run tactics, subterfuge, and abusing the overall size of the Galactic Empire over elite soldiers.

What you say about the rebels is very wrong. Basically the Rebels used special forces the most of all factions. At Scarif and Endor there were only special forces, not regular forces. The greatest inversion the Alliance did with ground forces was in special forces, as it was unable to acquire enough combat vehicles or to train and recruit enough numbers of regular soldiers.

The rebel special forces bested the Imperials almost every time, including Scariff and Endor, and big league. Many of its officers came from the Imperial special forces, including General Madine, former leader of the Storm Commandos. The rebel specforces didn't have inferior training, in fact it was quite superior.

Commando droids, able to mimic voices, wear clone armor, and can infiltrate the Republic. Also deadly accurate snipers, as we saw one almost kill Rex with one shot in the Deserter episode of the clone wars. Terrifying snipers and great infiltrators if no one pays attention to them saying 'roger roger' Super battle droids, while are arguably infantry units as well as the standard B1 battle droids. Aren't included within the infantry episode so we have to look at them too. Dangerous, strong units that can take punishment and dish it out. Wrist rockets can kill almost everyone, they can also be outfitted to be arial troops. Droidicas/Destroyers rolling balls of death that turn into a slow moving, Deflector shield generator built into them. Minigun of lasers. These fellas may not be able to change how they fight like how clones can, but they don't need that to destroy any non-jedi who comes into contact with them without the right equipment or reinforcements to combat them. Magna-guards are fierce droids built to combat Jedi, and can fight while having been sliced in half... not a lot of droids can still operate after being sliced up, missing head? Eh, they don't need a head to hit you with a electrical, light saber proof staff. I know a clone can't fight after having been sliced apart... nor can most folks, unless they are a red fella with a double bladed lightsaber. The republic clones and special forces are great, and I agree that they are the best, or one of the best infantry and special forces of the Star wars universe. But the CIS are... they deserve better than being put at the bottom of the list. Let's also state that while vehicles can destroy most, if not all of the CiS special forces, infantry. Etc. We have to look at how a fight within closed spaces, where a vehicle can't fit. Would play out... Commando droids are dangerous if you let them get close, what with their vibro swords, and they are deadly at range too. Being more accurate than standard B1s. Super battle droids can destroy you with a wrist rocket if you don't have enough room to dodge Droidicas/Destroyers... they own the enclosed spaces if you aren't a jedi, or aren't properly equipped to deal with them. Manga-guards are mostly used as body guards so you don't really have to worry about them... that is, unless your a jedi and Grievous wants to take you hostage. I believe the CIS special forces should've ranked higher, mainly because of how dangerous their special forces are. Even if they are droids, even if they can't think creatively. They can still be dangerous and destructive troops on the battlefield if used correctly by their commanders/tactical droids.

Imperial Commandos... I can't say much about them, but given Death Troopers from Rogue one, they had to undergo some serious training. Sure, we had perspective of such special operatives in Battlefront 2, but given game's awful plot I'll keep in silent. Republic Commandos on the other hand... There's just so good chemistry between those guys in SW:RC, they could go out of almost any situation... Almost. Poor Sev.

I THINK THE republic clone commandos were the best A:they are a clone of one of the greatest bounty hunters in the galaxy B; trained from a very young age...................... and finally they have heavy blaster proof armour Edit: Yeah thats a pretty vague point on why they are a very effective and elite fighting force, Their coordination and determination is literally the point they exist, they were like brothers to each other and teamwork was one of the most important thing in espionage combat, their gear and weaponry were by far some of the greatest the republic had to offer and had some great tutoring with as said had different personalities and were genetically engineered to be more strong willed to handle more extreme situations better as they had higher moral then ordinary troopers, although the empire dedicated more to theirs as they were humans instead of clones they didn’t have the same aspect of being birthed and trained together but this isn’t an army rating and the republic would indefinitely win on that scale but talking SF units its a different scale, id say Republic and Imperial SF units were very close as they were based of each other. Also i have no idea what my reply section is on about as the last time i looked at this was years ago so yeah if i replied and was being a jerk i apologise

Not a Meme The Commandos still have blasterproof armor. And they can match if not beat every other faction for skill, and definitely have more experience as they're working in a live, full scale war, not a guerrilla war in small attacks

Not a Meme dude, they trained for ten years straight, under ruthless kaminoan quality-controllers, who would recondition or kill any unit who didn’t meet their high standards. Plus they were trained by the best bounty hunters and mercenaries in the galaxy, handpicked by Jango himself, most of which were Mandalorians... plus, their armour was way stronger than any other faction, they literally had armour shields, plus the actual armour, when even just their bodysuit could stop a blaster bolt (or at least provide some protection from one) One Republic Commando literally jumped on a Grenade and all that he got was a dinted armour plate The only faction that MIGHT be better is the empire, because the Clone Commandos and ARCs became Imperial Commandos with slightly upgraded gear, however those commandos wouldn’t have lasted that much longer because of the accelerated aging. I’d say by the time of A New Hope, imperial special forces would have been significantly inferior to Republic ones, mainly due to the fact that they didn’t have the same training or experience that the clones did

Brotato 2007 I’m on your side of this argument, but let’s be honest here, the real reason the Clones killed so many Jedi was because they took them by surprise. I mean, sure Clone Commandos would destroy Jedi, and have in the Imperial Commando book, but ordinary Clone Troopers only managed to kill them because they cheap-shotted them from behind. And that’s coming from someone who loves clones and hates jedi

Clone commandos were the best without a doubt

I never understood why the CIS droids weren't allowed to always keep their memories so that they could develop personalities. This would solve the problems with experience, behavioral inefficiency, predictability, etc. Moreover, they would act more like your precious "organic beings."

Because "Awareness". Battle droids are just that. "Battle Droids". Give them memories, and sure they can learn from their mistakes, but it also spurs the possibility of self awareness, to a point that they start asking questions, having experiences, and even doubts and disobedience. When your entire military consists of these things, that's the last thing you want.

The CIS is SOOOOOO heavily downplayed in this video it’s insane the part where he says at 5:55 they can be neutralized by vehicles just shows how powerful they really were. Not to mention that magnaguards were known as JEDI KILLERS my list would really be: 1. CIS 2. Empire 3. Republic 4. Rebellion

people in the comments bitching about the rebels being so high, but forgetting that most of the rebels military command structure and spec forces were imps that went over to the rebels side.

I do think you're overvaluing the empire and always shitting on droids. While I agree it's usually warranted, I think you're still too harsh, especially in the guard episode where they really shouldn't have been so low.

Hk-47 is also a companion u can get to join ur party in Star Wars: KNIGHTS of the Old Republic. Hk-47 is a highly advanced, highly intelligent, and unlike the CIS battledroids, highly independent combat droid. he even is capable of assassination of a selected target, however that function is inaccessible in the game, BUT Hk does mention it exists and describes it fair detail.

Commando Clones are far superior to Commanda Droids. The Clone Wars series has shown us that even regular Clone Troopers are able to kill Commando Droids where Commando Clones (Gregor atleast) was able to take on an entire Droid squadron. Although, Commando Droids are way more expendable than the republic special forces so you do have a point there.

Honestly, I think the specialization of the CIS and the ability to make a droid for any situation gives them the edge. The BX droids are good at just about everything, the magnaguards even more so, and things like aqua droids, buzz droids, and droidekas give them so many options not available to Organics.

Since I love the CIS I voted for CIS but I think in reality they would be in third and the rest I agree with you.

Maybe but we’re talking on how the Special Forces work and they Rebel Spys and undercover teams would be superior because since their organic they can feel, make mistakes but then they learn from their mistakes and do better... most of the time while the a special forces droid would not learn but just keep doing their mission and fail because they can’t think outside the box but hey my opinion plz no hate but explaining your reasons why I could be wrong go ahead

i would think half of the rebel alliance would be special operations/special forces cells like that of phoenix squadron and the other half would be the main force. each cell would be responsible for their own training as seen in rebels but it is all one on one and on the job, those that survive would have to be good enough to do so.

Do you see this guy at the start of the video? Right at the very start, clubbing droids with a rifle butt, blasting them with a pistol in one hand and one-handing a rifle with the other? Could you imagine one of the Separatist SF droids being piloted from afar by a clone trooper trained in that droid's specialty? You would have the training and instincts of the other special forces, the technology and almost limitless stamina of droids, and borderline immunity to attrition as one of them dying just requires them to connect to a new droid - a droid which could honestly be produced in response to the first one being lost using the first one's specs at time of final deployment (so including any modifications the trooper made to it) and be ready-to-use in a couple of days.

It stands to reason that at least some of these systems would have standing military forces, or perhaps remnants or veterans of dissolved military forces, so -while the Alliance itself may not have been able to train special forces from civilian-to elite soldier, it is highly probable that they were able to get highly-trained and qualified special forces individuals and units from these veteran defectors. In addition, in cannon there are many examples of highly-trained Imperial soldiers and officers that defected to the Alliance. I still think that the Empire has the best special forces units though.

Rex wasn’t present in the OT or in Revenge of the sith so the creators of the show could’ve easily killed off Rex at any point in the show if they wanted to, now Commander Cody on the other hand did have plot armor throughout the show since he was present in ROTS.

The clone spec ops were really great.. soldiers. That's the difference between them and the Imperial spec ops: Arc Troopers and the like surely were by wide margin the best soldiers of the Republic army, but they were made to be integrated with the army, while the Imperial spec ops were created to be killing machines, undergoing constant improvements and inconceivable amounts of research, hence the sheer number of different types. I think some Imperial spec ops were inferior to Jango Fett clones, but others, well, just look at the Emperor's own units.

Clone commandos are savage they get paid and get laid while completeing the objective.

6:39 Wait what about the magna gaurds who matched even jedi knights and who could entire sqaud of clone commandos like seen in the boss fight were you are against *1* and they usually come in sqauds as well they were trained by Grievous to combat jedi. Or the commando droids who could fit into almost anyrole for example infantry, sniper team, infiltration while you need specific teams who are highly skilled in it who as well had a legitimate fear factor and try to terrorize clones on the battlefield as seen in the episode they are introduced. You should have shined more light on these droids who are considered most of time for special forces rolls instead of the heavy droids also they made up the majority. Note if this sounds salty I apologize

I appreciate how this is one of the few channels not covering the Last Jedi as I haven't seen it yet but don't want spoilers

I was always fascinated by CIS special forces more than others. Thinking about the Droid Factories having unrestricted budget, it seems very dangerous for clones. Having incredible intelligence without fear or moral compasses, being provided with incredible defensive capabilites, and having incredible precision with incredibly strong weapons.

I think if the CIS had forked out extra credits in order to allow the Commando droids to have powerful enough CPU's in order to learn from their mistakes perhaps not powerful enough that they become self aware but at least giving them the processing power to see what went wrong and how to prevent that from occurring again allowing them over time to better face and defeat enemy tactics (basically turning each commando droid into a less smart but capable tactical droid) whilst this may never replace biological experience it still allows the droids to become more and more combat effective especially if a units memory isn't damaged beyond repair it's "experience" can be transferred to other units.

I mostly agree with this list, the empire just had an immense budget for special forces and better technology and they also succeeded because of the foundation if the awesome Clone Trooper special operation units. But I was surprised that you ranked the Rebels last. They had the smallest budget and the fewest resources out of any faction. I don’t think that they had better special forces, maybe they had a better way of using them because they did really good in terms of asymmetrical warfare. But if you take the usage into account, you could also argue that the Republic would come out on top. And not just because of the old „everything was rigged by Sidious“ argument. I‘m convinced that the Clone Commandos, ARCs, etc would have been better in retrieving death star plans.

rebels won because of plot armor theres no way to justify it. I also think the cis would've won is palpatine wasn't orchestrating the war. I tend to disagree that organic units would always be superior to droids

Bush Ranger Star wars has shapeshifters. I don't think it will be too difficult for so many stormtroopers to take down a shapeshifter. Especially since blasters burn, something the Thing is weak to, if I remember correctly.

plasma isnt fire, i dont care if its some hihger form of fire or not. As far as we know fire is the only thing that can kill it. It would just put a whole in the damn thing. the only way to win is if they crash the Star destroyer into the sun.

Honestly I absolutely love the Commando droids. Able to mimic voices from there enemies, stronger and faster than other droids, able to adapt to situations, able to fight even after losing limbs, etc. Lol you knew the clones we're fucked when you saw a squad or two of these guys coming in. And the fact still stands that it's time consuming to train a human VS instant Terminator death bot.

There should be a video about the most powerful special forces droids since we now have the darktroopers from rebels and mandalorian

I'd say the CIS are best, they come ready straight out of the box whereas the organics are better but far more costly in time and logistics and literal cost, if you have the money you could buy your very own commando droid which is (almost) as good as a clone commando

Note that the empire also had commando droids plus all other variations hence why I picked them but my second would be CIS aswell due to low cost, ability to massproduce them quickly, no need for long training, ready to go when built, armed and programmed, easy to program and switch tasks. A Special forces for let say the Clone Trooper would require vast amounts of training should you need him in a role he has not been trained for. They also dont need to eat or sleep. THey might need munitions like batteries or such for weapons if runs low and they might need to recharge there batteries occasionally. Beyond that I think I would argue that they are terrifying and very effective with cost, needs to maintain and upphold compared to a trooper.

draconianwarking hahahaha that last comment made me laugh so much. Very true, but in Star Wars, we see rookie clone troopers like Echo and Fives and Hevy take down Commando Droids. Given that, I think it’s safe to say that a Commando Droid is not even close to the level of a Republic Commando. I know Echo and Fives became ARCs, but a single Republic Commando would also destroy any Cannon ARC in skill and especially gear and tech

we get it you like the cis, but we aren't talking about the cost of the troops just the overall skill. if I had to pick one of those to protect me with their life is easily choose the clone commandos

The Empire Had too much security, That’s why they lost. They thought they had too many good troopers, So therefore they thought the RA couldn’t take them out. Basically they killed themselves in the GCW. They also Killed themselves mentally.
