A168 is the best for me ☺️ it keeps the retro look of the A158 but doesn't look too tiny on male wrists. Also the illumination is really usefull. One time i could light my way out of a dark room after electricity failed and i didn't have my phone charged. For water resistance - i had it in the shower very often in the last three years and even went surfing with it a few times. no problems at all

The A168's even, bluish-green glow was the clincher for me. Just like any Timex I buy is probably going to have Indiglo. There's just something about it.

Yeah me too, I had this watch when I was in grade school that was in early 90's. Now its September 2023 and I bought another one. I'm glad casio still produced these vintage watches, I never liked smart watches as you have to charge it every now and then and just when you need to use them they fail you. This watch has everything you need in a wrist watch time date illumination alarm timer all in a minimalist design.

I pray they come up a metal version of A700W. It's a great slim watch but resin is meh.

A168 all hands down! 35 years later and the patina is great and not a single scratch on the glas! Yes this one of mine is from 1980+ ish and still works like a charm!

​​@@uto74As far as I know, the first model with this design was launched between the late eighties-early nineties, however, what has changed over time are the modules they use. The current A168W module is the 3298, which was released in 2012, an older one, 1572, was launched in 1997. The interesting thing is that the A168W is apparently an older model than the A158W.

That A700 full silver is so damn sexy.

Fantastic round-up and it's so awesome to see someone really championing the retro casio low-budget part of the market. I 100% prefer an affordable quartz digital watch to affordable quartz analog watch. It's form following the function and principle. Electric both on the inside and on the face.

Me too is an overall awesome watch. I shower with it without any issues... and once I fell on a lake doing Kayak and I swam with it and it didn´t get damaged!!

I can't stress how much I love your channel when it comes to comparisons like this. Your content may focus on the super affordable end of watches, but your approach is so professional and yet approachable that I get very absorbed in whatever you're talking about.

Terrific summary Ben, a great constructive review without bias of decent watches (all of them) that are not only affordable but obtainable.

A158 is the most retro one with full of memories and the best one from every aspect!

Nah...Check out the A159. Its built in Japan, not China.

I have the A158 and have just ordered an A163 for £17 from Amazon. I think the 63 has the coolest retro look out of them all. Not fussed about the weak light. It does the job and that's how I remember it as an 80s kid. A168 is on steroids and doesn't have that slim, retro elegance IMO.

I had been planning to buy the A700 for the last 3 months. Came back yesterday to watch your review on that for the 6th time and finally ended up buying it. :D

I've been wearing my new A168 (gunmetal version) for over a week now. Hasn't left my wrist since the first day, such a great watch.

When I first saw reviews for vintage, budget Casios, I didn't see the appeal. Now that I have a white F-91 and B640, I now enjoy these very detailed reviews of something so cheap.

I bought recently the b640 because I found it looks good, has a good water performance and because it shows the month. Now, in my wrist I think it looks better than I thought before. And it's so confortable that it feels like part of my body.

Just ordered an A700. Less than 30 quid here in Japan. Wish the gold model wasn't so expensive, but the silver one looks great!

I've got the silver mesh A700, love it. Other Casio's are too thick for me.

I always enjoy your videos. On this topic, I have a couple of metallic Casio watches; the A700 on the mesh bracelet and one not mentioned in the video, the Solar AL190WD-1A, which does not have a back light.

Can’t wait to get one, really enjoying my Casio W800H with the negative display. It’s such a sharp, cheap, and casual watch.

Every watch collector should have an F91-W, simply because it's so iconic. The backlight is awful but most digitals were the same back in the day. As you upgrade from the 91, functions become more advanced (timers etc.) and you get a full auto calendar and DST settings as well as a better light. It's worth checking out the module numbers to download or view the online manuals to see exactly what you get.

I've got a B650 after seeing one in a film. I love it. For anyone with average to large wrists it's fantastic.

Great review. I was so impressed with these watches I bought the whole set. The best time keeper is the A163W which I purchased from Argos. Only changing the watch time at GMT intervals it gains just +5 seconds the others are pretty close. I have a large variety of watches and these are the cheapest most accurate watches in my collection by far. Which proves Casio are the best number one watch maker money can buy.🥇👏

Hi Ben, here's an idea for a future roundup: why not do a roundup based on interesting features for inexpensive digital watches. Like for examble: one issue I have with the cheaper Casio watches (and even with the otherwise really, really nice Lineage series) is the fact that even though they have multiple alarms, they don't have alarms that can be set on weekdays/weekend days (or a day by day alarm). Since I find it a pain to enable/disable the alarms on these watches, I just don't use them. So if there were a cheap digital watch that did have day by day alarms, I'd probably buy one (and one for each of my children). Sounds like a good idea to you?

I was worried that the B650 would be too big for me, but it fits me perfectly. It's basically the same size I remember the F-91W from way back when I was a teenager. But this time it's silver and 5 bar water resistant. Thank you so much for your reviews!

I bought myself A168, it is my first watch and it is great :)

I have the F91WM-7A on a grey NATO. it's more comfortable than any of the bracelets or the silicon strap, and it looks perfect too.

Finally my all time favorite.. the A163 on BWC.

My new 'beater' is a B640, because as far as I can tell, it is the only one of these with a 24h stopwatch, which is important to me. For me it's metal bracelet is very comfortable, though I have noticed that it occasionally catches a hair when putting it on or off.

Very interesting and introduced me to new watches, I guess , as has been said already, buy them all!?

My Casio 168 is working since 2004 with the original battery. And the digits aren't even faded!

The digital watches i use the most are the silver W217 (negative display) on a W734D SS bracelet, A500w and ae1200 (have 3, 2 are modified).

I have the Casio 1000 DW 280 which my mother bought me back in 1982 - works fine and is in good condition.

I enjoy very much your videos pal. I'd love to hear your opinion on Lacoste watches👍. I'm really considering to buy one.

I have the A163. For me it looks more retro and beautiful than the others. But i have to say i am not wearing the A163, it is just a display model for me as an collector.

I like the look of the B640, but it's 1.5-2 times the price of the A700 here in Japan. Nice video, by the way.

The 6mm ones... There's something really cool about the thinness... they could go a little wider and taller add another option....Until they do an all stainless steel budget offering. I hope they do that one.

Thanks to Ben this segment of the watch market, always overlooked, gets to be seen by those who do not wish to spend a small fortune on a watch. I have over 300 pieces of all types of mechanical watch. Now that I am old, there is no need to sell anything. I recently bought the Casio 159 W. I have most of the others, including GShock Tough Solar. The best watches are those who cost very little. I hope Casio keep making these. The people in Asia are not fools.
