So I spent about $120 buying shells to pattern a few years ago and that exact same Kent ammo shot the best of the bunch out of my Benelli and happened to be the cleanest shooting ammo too. Now my Browning seemed to prefer the predecessor to the black cloud, Blind Side ammo and it shot pretty good. High pellet count for both at 30 yds. Cant remember the numbers but it was impressive as hell, the Kent was about 10% denser than all the others

Another great video brother. Thanks for doing these. I have been shooting the #2 Kent Fast Steels for almost 15 years and love them. I shoot a bit better with the 2 3/4" #2's but its because they are 100+fps faster than the 3"and it helps my shot because i dont lead enough. Nice job dude.

Great video. For ducks I use kent 2 3/4" BBB and set up to shoot at 50 to 70 yards. Amazing result in my 12 gauge weatherby pump with improved choke. For geese I use federal 3" mag T size pellets. Results also amazing. I routinely drop geese beyond 70 yards. Extremely tight pattern in my gun. These are the only 2 shells I use.

I’ve been shooting Kent’s for years. Good shells for the money. Not waterproof but if you take care of them that isn’t a problem. Price is better and they throw consistent patterns. I patterned them long ago in all my Invector Plus choke guns and they patterned well. Finding the right shell-choke combo takes some experimenting. I’ve found most guys want to get too tight of a pattern and would be better served in many cases with a nice uniform spread that is more forgiving for the average wing shooter. Good topic Kevin

3 years late... But I saw on Randy Wakemans write up about the A5 that Browning provided basically skeet, IC And full/extra full WHEN you measure the amount of constriction from the factory provided chokes, so those are basically IC (mod = ic in this case) patterns which are very impressive at 40yds still

Last year opening day, my buddy tossed me couple of shells. I shot at a mallard at at least 60 yards above my head to my surprise, brought it down crashing the water I front of me. They were Rem. hypersonic shells. I bought two boxes the next day and then thats at all I bought last year 2s 3s and 1s. But they say that 1700 FPS takes a toll on the shotgun specially gas op semi autos. Shoot them through pumps or o/u s and your shoulder will feel it. With semi auto Record yourself shooting hypersonics and play your gun action movement in slow motion see how hard it comes back and cocks the hammer. I have a box and half left from last season and I don’t think I’ll be buying more of them. I’ll try Kent 2.0 this year.

I just came upon this video. I just want to share my experience with a couple of these brands. 2 years ago I bought several boxes of the Remington Hypersonic 1700 FPS #2's. I hunted with them for 3/4 of the season and I was missing so many ducks I almost threw my gun in the marsh. I thought to myself you have lost your touch, (it was the difference between two ducks and a LIMIT on some days with the misses). The last two years I went with Kent Faststell #2's at 1300FPS. Quite a difference on FPS. My kill ratio of ducks went thru the roof. My opinion on this drastic change is this. Any shell above 1450 FPS equals a tremendous increase in recoil and blown patterns coming out of the gun at that muzzle velocity! I have no scientific testing on this, but I will never purchase a shell above 1450 FPS ever again! Loved this video boys.

I've read they blow out at longer distances, but they held together in your gun. I'd agree, the Kent's won that round. The price is just a bonus. Jackson Williams shotguns were designed around low pressure rounds. The explosion pressure of a shotgun round is much lower than a shotgun round. Using a high pressure shotshell in a regular shotgun may damage it.

you at least need to shoot the same shot weight (or if not made as close as possible and state that) to get the same number of pellets for the same pellet size. If you can't get as close as possible and state that. It doesn't say much to compare a black cloud load with more pellets except that it should have more hits than others and it didn't. They make several shot weights and speed of black cloud. I saw where you were using modified choke but is it a screw in? If so what make of choke ? Inside of 40 yards #3 or #4 kill as many as 2 with higher speed shells say 1550 fps or more. Since pattern is denser they have better chance of hitting head and neck etc. Remember though speed kills since speed determines energy of pellet and its penetration to vitals. Contrary to intuition. Given the same amount of energy a smaller pellet penetrates much better and kills much further . The problem is you have to have a more dense pellet to do that effectively at longer range like lead or Tungsten. The energy of a pellet is its mass or weight time Velocity squared . Steel shot even at higher velocity still slows fairly dramatically over 40 yards.
