I find value in your videos. But, man does the talking over repetitive music make them hard to watch. I rarely get through an entire video without skipping through it, 60 secs at a time. Maybe it’s just me, but it drives me crazy. Play the music when you’re not talking please.

I totally agree with you I have a scorpion DC with a 7'1 medium fast (stcroix legend tournament) a total all purpose setup.

@@theangleraquarist different person obviously, but I have owned both. I returned my Curado k for an SLX DC with no regrets for what it's worth. The Curado DC is identical to the Curado K mechanically with the addition of the dc controller instead of the centrifugal breaks.

Late comment, but I just bought the scorpion dc today based on your review. I already have a curator dc and metainium dc and love both those reels.

Another awesome vid!! Thank you. Just for some feedback.. My SLX DC has out performed my Curado DC, by far. My Curado blew up, every couple casts.. My SLX I can count on one hand. Set them both up, the same way.

Another big thing, is how new the line is. if he has brand new line on these reels, it definitely makes them more likely to backlash. And, the scorpion has used line on it if I'm assuming correct. you can tell through the whole video he is prefers the scorpion. so he probably uses it more

If willing and have the funds for a DC-reel, buy one. However, there are numerous less costly choices for most new anglers. DC reels are more luxury than necessity and still are far from completely fool proof. Accomplished anglers desiring DC reels, buy them for improved casting and upgrading to higher levels of breaking technologies. The more levels of adjustment make reels braking system better. For the difference in cost the Scorpion is better for accomplish anglers and SLX is better for new anglers desiring extra help starting out. I do agree with your recommendations and the opinion you provided.

From what you said about the scorpion being louder to me it seems the braking is always applied stronger all the time on this model over the others because the stronger the braking the more and louder you hear that electronic buzzing sound.

I dont think the sound loudness has anything to do with it, because the original scorpion dc had no sound and was reported to have overly strong braking. You can actually program the reels to have the sound or not have the sound.

Thank you for the great videos. When I was toying with the idea of getting the slx dc I went on KZread and found your channel. And started watching the curado vs scorpion videos you've done in the past. I decided that the scorpion dc was the one I wanted. Just got it in the mail yesterday from Amazon. I took it for a couple of test casts in my field and I know I'm gonna love it when I get a chance to use on the water. Thanks again😊

@@chaoyang9080 its not necessary but dc reels out perform standard braking reels on all fronts. Ive fished every bait caster known to man pretty much except dc reels up until about a year ago. I bought my first dc out of curiosity. I dont catch more fish or bigger fish but it most definetly improves the over all experience of fishing bait casters. They just are better casters all around. But i do agree with your premise that dc is not necessary. Im also convinced that a new fisherman should not start with a dc. I think they should start with a standard breaking system because it will teach the basics of casting. Everyone needs the basics cus you might not alway have that dc available one day when its gusting 15 mph wind straight in your face and the fish are on a good bite.

Training with my first baitcaster? Now that I got my first baitcaster ever, the Curado DC, what's the best line and lure to use for the sole purpose of learning. I am happy to just sit at the dock for a few 1000 casts, not trying to fish, but just Practice, Practice, Practice. What line and lure should I practice with?

@THE REEL TEST - It isn't about the amount of breaking on each setting, but more about when the breaking is applied. The fluoro mode boosts the breaking at the beginning of the cast. I can't remember where it is, but I know where there is a old chart somewhere that shows a bell curve of how the breaking is applied for each mode. I'll see if I can find it. On another note, the Shimano Conquest 843c is in the mail today... should have it by Wednesday. I'll let you know how it compares to the NRX and if it's worth getting one.

Emmanuel Bazile the braking system is better and it cast farther. They are both DC (digitally controlled), but you can fine tune the Scorpion because it has more settings. I also find the Scorpion to be a little smoother. They are both great reels. However, I favor the the Scorpion a bit more over the Curado. It also cast lighter lures farther which is a huge plus for me.

Do you try to cast the Shimano or Spandid sniper lure ? For legend of long distance !

My first dc reel was an Md Antares on Christmas I got a scorpion dc , I used Antares once I took the line and kept it! Scorpion dc is 100 size spool idc 5 this is my favorite dc reel my Antares is up to trade !!

If ypu use braid, go with the scorpion. Ive used both and the met loves wirey fluoro way more than the scorpion

Lol i just bought a scorpion dc 11 with idc the old way no sound but it cast mile and brakes were great next one will be this one i also have corado dc with braid and no problems

Can you do a review on the 2020 conquest DC?

Just out of curiosity, why are you using fluoro line on the mono setting? I believe if you would use the correct setting with the correct line, you would see a major improvement. I have used braid on setting 2 with no issue. I now use fluoro on setting 3 with no issue. I set my spool tension as directed.

Before you launch your first casts, do you dial in the reel? I read that you are supposed to do 2-3 mini half casts to let the chip dial it in before trying to launch one. Wouldn’t that have cut down on the first cast backlashes?

Personal have never even heard of one “dying out”, so I’d say you should just go for it, with the slx dc I can cast out half the spool with 30lb braid, so around 80 yard casts, with every lure I have used, from chatterbaits, to spinners, light poppers, and light swim baits

@@masondang119 don't worry😉I still love the reel,it's just that uncomfortable filing when you know the salt is causing a mess..4hour fishing results in almost 1hour cleaning😁I agree, JDM is the way to go, they really know what they are doing..exsence is the way to go..than again,you never know until you try..curado is still one sick reel-upgraded with bfs micro bearings and carbon drag clicker,it's a beast..it handled 7lb leccia thus season like a dream..you really have to be anal person to use baitcaster in SW as far as I can see..regular cleaning,oiling..factory teardown/cleaning every 2-3months and you are good to go..thank you my friend for an honest opinion😉

I’m not really a fan of the idc 4. I’ve been wanting a scorpion dc, the only thing I’m worried about with it is the dark color of the reel absorbing a lot of heat and shutting off the dc system. It’s happend twice to me already won’t be Antares dc md and that reel isn’t even as dark as the scorpion

Wow ! It never happened to me before when I was fishing inshore in the middle of the day, and it really works well, assuming that you don't change anything on the grease or oil, you really need that bro, the original grease seems doesn't work well against the heat

Daffa Maulana it’s not that, it’s the dc unit that over heats and shuts off. It electronic. If you look at ur paper work there is a picture showing a barrier between the reel and the suns rays. They want you to keep it out of extreme heat. It happend to me when I leave the reels on the deck of my boat while fishing extremely hot and sunny days. When I go to pick up the dc reel and cast it the dc unit ddnt work. After a couple of cast it cooled down and started working again. Ever since then I always cover the dc reels that are on my deck when I’m not using them.

My first was the scorpion

Im a beginner, decided to upgrade my savage gear setup and grab the slx dc. Far out... Im never using another reel. If you don't have one its nearly mandatory to get one.

Ok real word casting question for this 3, It’s not all about casting 900 miles. 1st question.. for non boaters Bank fisher that find or make holes to get water trying get to new spots to fish. You have trees, bushes, etc in the way can’t cast from 1,2 clock to 6,7 clock position, but you got cast side cast from left to right or right to left or odd angles , Which of this three does better not to blow up? 2nd For boaters or non boaters try pitch and flip or skipping get under some kind of structure, which is better?

all three reels can be locked down to prevent overrun and backlash if needed. The Scorpion just has the much more adjustable braking system, its a no brainer really if I could only pick 1 out of these three

Sorry, but what am I missing? I thought the purpose of dc reels was to prevent backlash. Did you set it up wrong or was do something to cause the backlash. Thought these things were to prevent it. Did I miss something cause I just ordered a slx dc not 2 hours ago and I sure don't want to treat it like my other reels.

I have a Shimano Metanium DC, a Shimano Exsence DC, 2 Shimano Scorpion DC's, and 3 Shimano Curado DC reels

if you set your spool tension to how Shimano recommends it will overrun about 30-40% of the time. Check out my on the water impressions videos of the Curado DC and SLX DC

That's a GREAT review, and thanks for sharing. Correct, Xmas is celebrated on a Pagan Holy Day during the Feast of Saturnalia. Winter solstice here, but Summer Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere. But that doesn't make Xmas Pagen to Christians, since the birth was actually around August / September based on the time of birth of John the Baptist. It's sad Hanukkah is over looked by many Christians, since it's a Holy Day too of both Jews & Christians alike which is from the Maccabean revolt. Yes, I will agree the USA has turned Xmas into a Pagan Retail Celebration, and tried to spread it to other cultures and beliefs. #SadStateWeAreIn

Same reel, HG is the higher gear ratio, 101 means its the left hand model

How much is the scorpion? Never mind lol. But what one would be better for someone who doesn't have a lot of money to spare for something much over 200$. Because I want one but don't think i would have enough to buy the scorpion

I just bought the curado dc. It was not working right, sent it to shimano, and they didnt fix the problem. Sent it back to TW hoping to get my money back to get a Daiwa. Shimano customer service sucks.

calcutta conquest DC 2019

I've owned a few DC reels, and just purchased a Scorpion DC 101. Wow what a reel, amazing. I also picked up a 2018 Shimano Exsence CI4 3000 reel from Malaysia for under $270, originally $900. There blowing out the 2018 for new model. Its so smooth, like butter and black on black on black styling. Looks awesome. You should try one out. No comparison to the Stradic CI4 reels. Makes them feel like they're cheap. I'd say there close if not the same as Stella.

Are this saltwater friendly use ? Anyone know ?
