Which paint to choose for your Fiberglass Antenna
Ғылым және технология
My paint recommendations for repainting your fiberglass antenna. Sorry the ending has no audio as I accidentally muted the audio. See my pinned comment for a summary of the ending.

Thanks to UDX4570PalmSprings-yh1mv for letting me know my audio was out. The ending was basically going over the choices and the pros and cons of each example I showed you. The marine fiberglass paint would probably hold up the best over time and be similar looking to the original finish. If you choose to go with a different color, the last two choices would probably be for you. The Krylon was the cheapest option for spray paint and would hold up for a few years from what I have read. The Rust-Oleum plastic is more expensive but looks like it might last longer than the Krylon and also be able to flex in the wind better than Krylon without cracking. UDX4570PalmSprings-yh1mv also pointed out that you could use an UV protective epoxy if you didn't want to paint the antenna. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I've used rustolium on my old Shakespeare, painted it apple red . Had it up for a few years it stood up great. 514 Ontario Canada
I used house paint. Bought a sample size can in light blue color to match the sky. I did a field strength measurement before and after and saw no measurable difference. Also, SWR did not change. It has adhered to the plastic very well for over 3 years outdoors now. Now that being said, that vertical antenna is 10 meter and 11 meter only. My UHf/VHF Diamond Vertical has the factory finish still going strong after more than 20 years that it's been out there. It has a little chauky/oxidation on the surface but the fiberglass is in excellent shape.

I like that you tested field strength and SWR before and after. Great idea to use sample size paint, thanks for sharing! 73s from 595 Lake Tahoe Nevada.
The Antron lasts for about 7 years without any problems, after a while the complaints appear as you described. It is advisable to simply replace the Antron with a new one after 5 to 7 years instead of starting with paint. You will get a mediocre result, and maybe extend the technical lifespan by a year or two... Let's not forget that the Antron 99 is not an expensive antenna, spending half that price on paint simply doesn't make sense says Spock

Use a UV protective clear fiberglass sealer, which is basically an UV protective epoxy. Now As for color, personally I'd stay away from colors, I wouldn't want my antenna to look like a candy cane, but thats just me. If your wanting a color, atleast have it blend in with your surrounding enviroment!. Don't know what happened but you lost your audio toward the last couple of minutes. Anyway, take care! UDX-4570 Palm Springs is waving!👋🤠
