Thank you for this! ❤️I bought the rounded brush but almost used my old flat brush because I thought it would have less strokes. This video saved me!

Thank you for this! It's very informative. I'm new to chalk paint. I was going to use a regular brush, but now, after seeing the difference with the oval brush, I'm buying one of those. It looks so much better, nice and smooth with no lines, plus using less paint! Your video is very helpful.

Thank you, this was very informative, I am new to all of this, i have a dresser that i want to use chalk paint on it, (black) and it’s not real wood, it’s fake , i don’t even know what it is, lol, i don’t think it’s veneer, I know i will have to clean it and sand it before using the chalk paint, my question is, should i roll it with a sponge roller or a fabric roller in order to not have brush marks, or use that one paint brush that you were showing that doesn’t take up too much paint ?? I am very excited to do my first project on fake wood , lol, could you please be able to help me ? I wish i could show you a picture of this dresser so you would know what material it is ? Thank you❤

That is so exciting. You can always send me a pic at lucy@rivachic.com Also if you are using chalk paint I recommend the brush. I have a few videos out there as well as tips and tricks on my Facebook page. If it's fake wood all you need to do is scruff it up a bit with a 220 gritt sandpaper before you paint. You can also visit my website at www.rivachic.com for inspiration. Thank you again for reaching out and I hope that helps

Your test is soooooo un-scientific! You loaded excess paint with the first brush and only did 29 strokes at first and then an additional 8 strokes. For the record, I’m counting one stroke as the brush hitting surface and going in 1 direction. Most of your strokes were purposefully short and choppy. With the second brush, you loaded half the amount of paint and did 27 strokes, almost all of which were long full FLAT strokes. Then with the last brush, the one you wanted to win, you loaded maybe the same amount of paint as the 2nd(but I think even less), however, you did well over 100 strokes, short and long. I couldn’t even keep up because you were going so fast back and forth. It is no surprise that the 3rd brush showed no strokes and dried faster. You brushed all the strokes out and brushed until the paint was darn near dry! His is fraudulent biased testing. If you want to show the truth of what each brush will do, measure out equivalent amounts of paint, equivalent sections on 3 separate boards of the same type of wood, and do the exact same number of strokes…all complete length strokes for the section you are covering. I am literally sitting here with a wooden storage bin in front of me using one of my 3/4 inch synthetic artist brushes I normally use for canvas painting and I can get a perfectly smooth, stroke-free finish that is dry within minutes…and little to no hand fatigue as the brush is merely a few ounces. I can’t believe anyone takes this test seriously. I guess because I was a science and math teacher and have also worked with chalk paint for so long that I see the flaws so intensely. I would look forward to seeing you do an unbiased test of the different types of brushes.

WOW! You must be very bored to sit and count brush strokes!! 😂 hahaha. But I hear ya about the brush you're using etc.. but again she is repeating herself about finding what brush works for each individual... Besides whatever brush you use I still found this video informative in other ways as I've been researching chalk paint techniques and so on.. I personally don't care about the scientific aspect anyways. I didn't think it was intended to be a scientific video... Just one person sharing some tips and yes, what she prefers to use. I'm going to take her advice and see what works for me....
