Which One Is Better? Totilas Offspring Comparison - Total US, Toto Jr & Go Legend
With Totilas out of the picture, many dressage fans have been waiting for the moment the offspring of the black dressage stallion would hit the Grand Prix ring. Now is that time.
Last week we saw Edward Gal, who also rode Totilas, ride Toto Jr and Total US in the Grand Prix. Go Legend was also in the mix. The 3 Totilas offspring filled out the leader board and it was a complete Totilas shut out in the Netherlands.
The biggest challenge with these 3 horses is being able to see the differences among each of them that solidified their ranking. It is an ongoing challenge to train your eye in dressage and this trio off Totilas offspring will take it to a new level of refinement. Go Legend looks the most comfortable to me. He is the only one that looks relaxed and confident. The other 2 look good but I would choose Go legend.
Toto Jr looks just like his father, beautiful!!
I love Toto jr. (with Eddi) 😍 and Toto came to Glocks as he was 2-3... and will say forever🥰
Different riders, so difficult to compare just the horse.. Toto Jr had more brilliant movement but pretty much constant tail swishing belying tension... Other two had rhythm faults and occasionally BTV but in general calmer performances.. Toto Jr would get the higher marks in the test but none of these are exactly rides to emulate IMO..
Total US. He flexes all of the joints in his hind legs and steps under himself (yes, there were moments he lost engagement but he is still young). He also elevates his front end more than the others, and his Piaff was spectacular: mostly even steps with hind legs, forelegs straight, lowered croup etc. He is going to be amazing once rhythm and cadence continues to improve and yes he came behind the vertical at times but as he gets stronger he will come out more consistently.

Agreed he had the most even lift in front and back, the other 2 where higher in front and lower in back, dressage is about even lift at the trot, front and back should come to the same height. And again I agree his piaffe was the best of the 2. He had good carriage, good lift and weight transfer, his cadence could be better but imo had the best carriage and loftiness of gaits. He seemed to float where as the other 2 looked to paddle with their front legs and tuck under in the hind, had the look of the big kick of the Tennessee walkers. I'd have to see the walk and canter to make a breeding decision but so far I'd breed to total us

@@Kholoured I thought that they were breeding horses to be higher in front. It's rather beautifull when they do an extended trot and throw their legs up 😊

Toto Jr is exquisite. Total us has a lot to offer as well though
If he can get him to relax I vote Total US but I think Toto jr is sweet ❤️
Loved them all, but would love to see the walk and canter before I commit 🤣🤣

Total US was much more uphill than Toto Jr. Go Legend didn't get much time but he looked uphill and maybe moved more freely than Total US.

Yeah he was doing a different test and a lot of the trot work was away from the camera unfortunately and I couldn't find one the other way.
Total JR is a grand imagine of his sire ❤
Toto Jr has always been a favorite of all of Totilas' sons. Hopefully none of them will inherit the soundness issues Totilas had lateer in life.
I like the first best. But I mean, they all are nice. Are totilas offspring normally hot? Bc they all give me that impression. And the first and second horse had the same rider, so one can’t really say it’s a difference in training philosophy.

This is best watched in Mute. Initial impressions on first viewing..... 1st horse is like at Automaton and just as stiff in the back and jerky movements you would expect of a mechanical object. Tails are an indicator. 2nd horse is more fluid and drops haunches a touch for collected work. 3rd horse (why did you cut it short? What does that achieve?) Pretty in the paddock no doubt, and better than many horses in the world, However, at this level, too straight in the back, no lowering of quarters.
Toto jr the best more put together.
Toto Jr. hands down. He is the only one that was correct in that he wasn't behind the vertical like the other two.

Being behind the vertical isn't the horse's fault. It's people being obsessed with thinking their horse is on the bit

@@barbaramcneilly4807 100% agree with you, but when I am being asked who did it better, I have no other choice than the horse who's rider is doing it right and therefore presenting the horse correctly. He may or may not be better or more talented then the other two, but he at least looks like he's being trained properly. You're right, it's not about the horse in this case, it's the riding/training.

@@Nicole-qc5dh like you say it's the training. Too many people think it's a quick way to success. You have to make sure the basics are properly followed, and all the stages afterwards.

@@Nicole-qc5dh Edward Gal ride both, Toto jr. and Total us... but Toto was completely trained by Edward and Total came as he was six from Schockemöhle to the Ghpc.
Total US is it ! E.Gal choosed Totilas music for freestyle in Tokio Olympics today !

Total us looked to have better carriage all around where as toto jr looked active in front but a bit flat in the back, same with go legend though he was a bit better. But my opinion is Total US was the better moving of the 3 though I'm not thrilled that out of the 3 he was ridden with a much more severe head carriage then the other 2. So pros and cons Total US have the best action, very lofty in front and back, but head carriage for me was too rolkur for me, and the other 2 were more lofty in front and flat in the back but had better head carriage more vertical then behind.
All 3 horses are very beautiful and sweet🥰
