WHICH ONE? i30N FASTBACK vs i30N Hot Hatch - Detailed comparison & differences.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We were lucky enough to get a close up look at the newly released i30N fastback while it was sitting right next to the i30N hot hatch from Hyundai.
Weighing only 15kg more, and offering 55L more boot space, which of these 271hp track capable road cars is your pick?
To run us through the subtle and obvious differences we have a chat to Geoff Fear from N Performance and get a close up look of all the differences and similarities between the two models.
This video is ahead of the official media release so we are unable to reveal details such as the model pricing or the actual driving experience, but be sure to check back in a week or so, where we will show what it's actually like to drive :)
Special thanks: Hyundai Australia, N Performance and Geoff Fear.

I love my i30N but it needs these: -Vented seats: i have heated seats, but here in Australia where its 30 degrees + all year round, vented seats are a necessity. -Rear AC vents -Rear charge ports (USB and/or 12V socket) -A more lively interior: i have the optional panoramic sunroof and part suede/leather seats and N floormats, but the car's door panels need some stitched leather in my opinion -Better sound system!

I get that the fastback is attractive, in Australia (having owned an XKE Type Jag in the mid 1960's, I can only say that heat's a killer) & whilst maybe less smooth through the air, I prefer the hatch & also I have an i30SRPremiumturboDCT(aka Elantra-GT in the States) so I would say that. [I think of it as a lowered SUV for practicality, and a hatch for tight parking & I still pilot aeroplanes when I really need aerodynamics and streamlining. :-) ]

Fastback looks nice but hatchback is more spacious. So, I might say the lamest thing but in my opinion unlike them both. If I had both I would use fastback as a weekend car. But no point in having 2 Hyundais with the N badge. So in my opinion keeping i30N hatch is like keeping a VW golf R. You can use them for both sport and daily drive. Even the Honda Civic type r 10th gen you can use both sport and daily drive, quite economical for a "everyday sports car" type, and they're quite powerful. Agree with another person here, people can say whatever they want about Hyundai.... But Hyundai has changed ever since the Excel. Here in Australia the corollas, excels and pulsars were most common for everyday car. Cheap price back then too. Now it's more Corollas. Ever since the excel people start to look down in Hyundai. That's why not many Hyundai were sold. Even back then Korean brand Daewoo and Kias were often looked down more than Hyundai. Hyundai had help from few German engineers car designers that's how they succeeded then Kia followed Hyundai. Daewoo went bankrupt. We still have sanyong here in Australia but not many people drive it. Very few on the road. Apology for long message. Hyundai and Kia both made big changes. Saw a funny video of Hyundai iMax N with everyone in the van all wearing black suits or something, and they drifted in the van. Lol. Those who haven't seen should watch it. :P

I thought the fastback was a bit weird at first but it grew on me. It is more practical and has more room, so it really comes down to personal preference. The fastback has very slightly better weight distribution, and updated suspension, so the next revision of the hatch probably will get tweaked suspension as well.

Aha I more meant that people over 6ft would be a little uncomfortable in the back, but that would tend to be the case in any small car just from restricted legroom alone. I think legroom would be annoying before headroom, and I don’t think many people carry 4x 6ft tall adults in the car at once anyway.

Fuck me, I purchased a SR 1.6T in September 2018 because the N was 7k over budget and my regrets have never been so real... have had my own exhaust and intake done so it sounds similar but just cant seem to hit the pops easily and the take off traction bog sucks!! also missing the valued LSD. Hatch is my preference & RIP me... been sad since you made the 350HP vid... :'(

You guys get the Veloster N, which we don't. It's odd what they decide to bring into various countries.
