I'm sure the larger Shocks are better performance but, adding larger tires, more sidewall and airing down will give the illusion that the Shocks are doing all the work. And the gladiator has a longer wheel base.. Of course it's going to ride better than that willys wrangler.

You're forgetting bigger tires usually come with a thicker ply, I have Micheln 31" 4 ply all season tires and lemme tell you they are way more soft and forgiving than my 35" Toyo AT3s 10 ply, even when aired down to 15 PSI and keeping my all seasons at 30

I have a rubicon gladiator diesel and the stock shocks won’t do the job. I am running 35s TOYO A/T. My friend bought the Mojave n it comes with the 2.5 shocks from the factory and it makes A HUGEEEE difference. I am saving for the 2.5 fox shocks and the fox hydro bump stops.
I use the 2.0 series on my JKU 3.5 Rock Krawler xfactor and love the suspension. I thought about going to the 2.5 but found that upgrading the bump stops to Metal Clock’s DUROSPRING MICROCELLULAR and can’t be happier. We don’t feel that hard impact anymore. As for the side to side I use swayloc remote dual rate swaybar and I’m able to switch depending on terrain what keeps my wheels down and my Jeep solid when I need it. I’d buy and recommend the 2.0 performance over and over again.
I don't know how yall do it everytime I start researching new mods yall come out with a video that answers the questions I have.
Nice video thank you. It would have been better if the different shocks were demonstrated on the same model Jeep!
I bought the fox 2.0 off road suspension leveling kit for my 2020 f150, definite improvement!
yes!! been thinking of upgrading to my shocks, thanks for the info andre! i hope more aftermarket company’s invite you to their events
Best review of the 3.0 on the internet so far. Thanks
Great video preciate the feedback there look too expensive for me I think I'll stick with the bilstein shocks
I love my 2.0 for my F150! I tracked the prices and a few years ago bought the complete eibach front and rears for $600 during black friday. 50k miles later still going strong off road…though I probably need a rebuild 🤣
Best video TFL has ever posted! 5 out of 5 stars!
Fantastic video, thanks! I really liked the back-to-back comparisons from stock up to the 3.0s. I didn't realize how much value upgraded shocks could provide to me until I drove my Wrangler JLU Sahara in the Oregon sand dunes for the first time recently.
They're apparently going to ignore that the stock shocks have76,112 miles on them. Seems like that by itself would cause 'shock degradation', no? 2:10

That's so true my front shocks were leaking and donzo around 80 thousand miles (give or take a few thousands) on my jeep jk. Those stock shocks are probably gonna need replacing soon.
Brandt had an uncontrollable smile when the speed and bumps went up was like . Yeah!! I understand your happiness!!
I’ve been buying FOX products for decades and I have had nothing but good luck. I would love to try some adjustable shocks on my 2021 Jeep Rubicon.
My 2013 Silverado 1500 has Fox 2.5 front and 2.0 resi rears. They are fine, but not as impressive as I had hoped when I spent $2000 on them. Current truck, 2021 Titan Pro-4x upgraded to Bilstein 6112 2.5" front and 5160 2.0" rear are better in nearly every scenario at $800. I'm not a Fox hater at all. My mountain bikes all use Fox forks/shocks.

I swear by Bilsteins too and that's what I have on my car. It's a 1995 Mercedes E320 and i installed them on the car when I bought it ~10 years ago. I get sporty handling with a nice plush ride at the same time. It needed shocks when I bought it so that was an easy upgrade. I need to install them on my current car (same car but a wagon. And diesel!) But it has te sportline shocks which are a standard sporty upgrade for the Mercedes. I doubt they are as good as the Bilsteins though.
I love fox products. Never been disappointed!
Awesome video again Andre. It would’ve been cool to see the set up for an F-150 on that course too.
I had a Ranger and put 2.0 s on it, drove that thing everywhere in the desert!!🤘🏁
So the take away here is, we are all driving around on stock crap. Manufacturers do not put on quality parts and we are expected to replace these parts ASAP or suffer. ;)

Nice video. I’d prefer seeing aftermarket shocks and performance on a 2021 F-150, compared with the Gen 3 Ford Raptor 37. Of course, there has to be a whoop section. 😎

Great/informative video. Just so expensive!
Great video.
I think the JL 2 door Willys is perfect with its 32s and limited slip.
very cool tech demo.
Interesting cut-aways and demo. - get a better idea of compression ratio and valves with heat, but no bladder instead of floating piston.
Fox shocks on my f150 smoothest riding truck I’ve ever ridden in
I have the Fox 2.0 IFP shocks on my JKU Rubicon. They're a really great shock. I don't need more than the 2.0 shocks, I do mostly slow rock crawling and trails, my shocks just aren't getting very hot.
Those 2.5’s seem like the ideal setup there, either that or go full on external bypass if you’re already planning on spending over 1k per shock, instead of the internal bypass for similar cost. But the internal bypass is great if you had it dialed in custom and don’t want to bother with worrying about adjustments too much.
@ShockSurplus

the 3.0 has a full aluminum body and finned reservoirs, not something you can mimic with an external bypass shock. We wouldn't trade IBP and finned ressies for only rebound compression
@GaryGill786

Can we buy these all shocks from mopar or dealership
@alexmills1329
Жыл бұрын
@@GaryGill786 these are aftermarket and are better than what your stock parts options are as long as they are matched properly eg. don’t pair 4+ inch lift shocks on a stock height vehicle and don’t get 3.0’s on a 2 door Jeep unless you really need tons of shock absorption as otherwise it will be overly stiff. A good quality lift kit should have well paired shocks or go to a place like accutune for a good setup.
Hi guys! Great video! I noticed in the Jeep Jl that it had a Rugged Ridge snorkel. I also noticed that you were able to mount 5 inch lights near the snorkel. Can you please tell me how you mounted the Mopar 5 inch light on the side of the Snorkel. I have a 2019 JLUR with the same snorkel and I want to mount those lights on my Jeep. Thank you!
Hey Chris Burandt! Thought I remembered seeing the fox snow guys at that on IG.
My Gladiator Rubicon came with 2.0” fox shock. Are they similar to the 2.0 smooth ifp?
Hello, what was the lift height and make on the gladiator? Thanks!
The 2.5's are the choice at half the price of 3.0's.
what lift was on the factory performance 3.0? what were the wheel/tire specs?... and will the factory 3.0 fit on a Gladiator Sport?
My Hardrock Rubicon wear 2.0 Fox narrow tire no lift , short knob Manual transmission and SPEC clutch upgrade. Obviously I set my JK for drift rally style and not for climbing .🤟🏻
Great video Andre! If shocks typically last around what 60k-100k miles would that be the same for the beastly 3.0 ($6 Grand) shocks? At that price for mileage ratio I could never justify spending that much. If they are rebuildable how much would that be? Ill stick with the bilstein 5100's/2 in lift/33" tire combo for Daily Driver and offroading/overlanding/camping use for a fraction of the price!
@TJ-po9ol

They are rebuildable
@ShockSurplus
Жыл бұрын
THey are rebuildable, runs about $800-1k for a rebuild as well. These 3.0s are only for those who want the best and money isnt an option, they take upkeep, and they're meant to go HARD
I have an F150. Is there any trade off getting the 3.0 vs the 2.0 other than cost? Or would I lose some sort of towing/payload or ride comfort? Or is it just strictly better in every way on and off road, just more expensive/overkill? I'm driving in the city and suburbs 95% of the time.
I think 33s on 2 inch lift is a good all around driver for a JK. On a JL, 35s and 2 inch is the way to go
Never seen any trail in AZ look like that though. I wanna see what it’s like on a rocky trail.
Is the JK ith the 2.5 lift equivalent to a JL with the mopar 2 inch lift?
If money were no concern the Fox 3 are so good looking, if they perform half as good that'd be great. I'm in Fox 2.0 on my F-150 (3years, still like them) and about to put the 2.0 with a Clayton 2.5" lift on my wife's '22 JL
I have a 2018 jeep Sahara JL 2.0 turbo I picked up 2021 Jeep gladiator Fox suspension,will it on my Jeep Sahara? if not please explain and if there’s a way I can reach out to you a number of something
I wonder how the fox shocks on the mojave stack up with the 2.5 and 3.0? Id assume better performer than the 2.0
Y'all should have brought in the frankentruck just to compare
I'm in love with those Fox 3.0 shocks! They are expensive as hell, but I bet they are worth every penny. Does Fox make a 2.0 shock kit for Chevrolet Express van 3500? I will need new shocks ans suspension work in a few months for mine and I would love to have great sus components. BTW, it is abd will remain on stock height, I want them to keep their performance under full load when I hit long Highway journeys (3300 pounds of payload in a 6500 punds van on a highway in Mexico will fatigue any stock or OEM replacement shock in less than 100 miles). Just experienced that shock fatigue on my last journey and it was awfull, I was already empty and going back home but I had to cut my speed from 90mph to 50mph because the vehicle felt unstable. And thanks! I now know why that happened.
@ShockSurplus

Fox doesn't make a direct replacement shock for that Van, but there's lots of companies making shock mount kits for the vans, or you can find a universal length fox 2.0 from Fox that may work, hit us up.
Great review. What would you put on a JKU Sport to be used for overlanding but also snow plowing, so needs to maintain a close to stock height?

at least the 2.5 dsc
They used a gladiator... that skews the results. 🙄🙄
Here is my question TFL: With a stock new JLU Rubicon they have the 2.0 Fox, would it be worth the cost to go up to the 2.5 like the Mojave comes with? These all have a lift and I was hoping they didn't have it and do the comparison that way to see what the difference is. Thanks
@ShockSurplus
Жыл бұрын
The difference from a 2.0 to a 2.5 with reservoirs, and the DSC is night and day. Better feel all around, the adjustability makes a real difference.
They have a lot of managers lol
Want that gladiator.
The rebound damping on the 2.5s looked wrong which is why it was pogoing so much. The rebound wasn't matched to the compression settings for slow speed compression which was maybe too soft for the rebound valving.
How do the different suspensions affect towing capacity. Do they at all?
@ShockSurplus
Жыл бұрын
The shocks dont affect towing capacity, just how the energy and weight is being thrown around or how it oscillates the rear end. You can use the DSC to firm-up the low speed settings for a very controlled ride when towing.
So this is a tire test ....... oh boy , I guess
I want to keep my jeep stock height. Should I go with fox shocks or OE?

Fox 2.0s are a huge improvement over stock
The JT Rubicons come with Fox 2.0 from the factory.
Be interested to see how a stock gladiator on 37s would ride compared to a last gen wrangler on 33s with 3.0s. Tyres and wheelbase play the biggest role here
@ShockSurplus

the wrangler would leave the gladiator in the dust. But the gladiator could rock climb a lot better due to the larger tires.

Do you think you guys could do one of these comparing steering stabilizers????
@GevoA1
3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, save your money. You can fool yourself into "feeling a difference" with the butt dyno. However, the original works "ok" other than the minor steering effort difference from Left to Right turn (most don't even know this, you may now that I told you). If it bothers you, get the regular "through shaft". Don't bother with the adjustable ATS version. PS if you're steering is bad, there are other things which require fixing/correction. The stabilizer should be last on the list of suspension work.

@@GevoA1 appreciate it we ended up buying one already but when I do the gladiator I'm gonna go with one of the cheaper options I would say there was definitely a difference with the teraflex one and I enjoy it but I'd be fine with the model down thats just the pass-through without adjustments
@GevoA1
3 жыл бұрын
@@dyzard43 Sorry, wish I was sooner lol . There is for sure a difference, but nothing to justify the price. I have the adjustable fox and don't see much of a difference really as the dampening is good, you almost only adjust the steering stiffness with the adjuster, which with larger tires, you almost always want on the loosest setting anyway. I've only set it higher on long highway trips. Off road wise, especially high speed, its on the softest as the factory electric power steering system is already bad enough lol. For all the crap people give Falcon shocks for being "off brand" or "not US made" I haven't seen any major failures from them. I just haven't seen them long term regarding the seals and the shaft hardness isn't the best, however, especially for a steering stabilizer, I don't see any issues. If I had to, I think I'd go with Falcon as you said instead of the Fox as well and save some cash.

Just stick with bilstein's. I was looking at them all when updating my suspension and for less then the price of the 2.5" fox's alone, I was able to do front and rear 5100's, OME coils, UCA's, and a heavy duty leaf pack. Perfect set up for daily driving and mild offroading and not break the bank. Fox are nice, just too damn much atleast IMO.
I think Andre had gas station food this morning.
That $6,000 kit...looks great, but hearing their gladiator suspension squeaking @ ((13:02)) gave me a good laugh. How does one even afford to frivolously spend 6k on shocks, that's what I want to know Fox..
Comparison is not fair for the following reasons 1. They used a jk with a beat up stock shocks and stock tires on the first jeep 2. For 2.0 shocks they brought a jeep with 33s and jks suspension 3. For 2.5 there was a gladiator which rides different from the jk 4. God knows what tire pressures they were running on each Jeep I have the 2.0 with reservoirs on my jk. They don’t ride any different from the rubicon shocks. Only difference is the fox corner flatter Most positive reviews u’ll find on the internet are by people who don’t Offroad their Jeeps. You can get better shocks for the fraction of the price Sadly this is an overly advertised brand

Fox shocks on a jeep wrangler- absolutely terrible! I bought a new JKU Willy’s in 2017 and the fox 2.0 lasted 1 week! Never experience such poor shocks!
