The trick with frogs (besides trimming the legs) is to wait a second or two before trying to hook set. Most fish will bite at their legs before sucking in the frog. The hooks on a frog lure are too high up to be in the mouth before the fish sucks the lure in, so waiting a second or two gives it the chance to get the hooks into the mouth.

The first frog I would trim the legs down some for the walking action and a little better hook up ratio Edit: same thing for the popping frog btw great video

Love this video, but I've never seen so many missed fish in my entire life. You have to let them take that frog a little longer than other topwaters so they can take the whole frog in.

One thing I observed is that if you get a strike, you should wait for about 2 to 3 seconds before setting the hook, this allows the fish to position the frog better in it's about, thereby offering a better hook up ratio.

Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, kzread.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.

Sorry coming late to this party. I've gone through a lot of different makes and models of soft frogs. I first started fishing again in 2008 with Scum Frog. It was okay. It got lots of strikes but didn't have much weight. I switched to another Scum Frog (Little Big Foot) . I switched to Stanley Ribbit and had a lot more action but the feet were ripped to shreds. Later, I went to Strike King Rage Tail. Lots of hits. Weak on the legs. I also have Strike King KVD. I edited that one to get the tassels shorter and it works. In all, the Stanley bait had the most action because of the feet. Which is why I'm interested in the Lunkerhunt Prop Frog. Saw your video on that as well as others and it's making me believe that'll be one of the best. I agree with Aiden below. Trim the tassels down.

When I was young and broke I would bring a pruning saw when fishing in winter. It’s easy to find lures when the trees are bare. Saw off a limb if you can and you can retrieve the lure(s).

Not trying to tell you what to do but just my 2 cents. I love fishing a frog like most, to me it’s power fishing at its best. I trim the legs and not to walk it cause I think they walk regardless but they don’t always engulf it and will only get the legs and you miss. I also bend the hooks out and up slightly. It’s heavy combat so I don’t play the fish, just jack em and don’t stop reeling or they play you and can come off. No disrespect but I want all the odds in my favor and think 40 pound braid is too lite, I use 65 pound at least cause if a ten pounder hits it and it hurts itself in something you want to get her to the boat. Heck Dean Rojas is the best frog angler in the world in my opinion and he uses 80 pound. A friend of mine said he has snapped braid lower than 65 pound braid. You have two beefy hooks your trying to penetrate with so I think that’s why guys lose fish. I pretty much only use spro frogs ! I started with pad crashes and they work but I just really like spro frogs. Thanks for video from Fort Mill

I usually trim up the legs, I honestly don't know why I didn't for this vid lol but I've never had an issue with 40 lb braid and I've caught my fair share of giants with it. It's never a bad thing to up the line size for a little extra security lol Glad you're liking the vids tho!

I never trim the legs down on these frogs, not saying I wouldn't, I just let them take it a couple seconds and rarely miss em

Honestly when I can get a away with it, ill take a spook style bait over the frog. MUCH better hook up ratio

Right from the start, missing top water bites over and over, because.....you set too fast. With top water, when they strike, resist the urge to immediately set the hook. Pause for a second or two, then set. Try it and see how many more remain on the hook. Even so, good video.

Try giving the fish 1.5 to 2 seconds before you set the hook. Pretty much all weedless works best that way. At least in my experience. Sure if they hit it hard af it may work sooner

Try to bend the hooks out just a little bit to not lose as many also you may want to trim the legs for better walking
