#askmark When diving from a boat with a small group, say two or three buddy pairs, is it recommended that everyone deploy a dsmb for group ascent/safety stop or just one?

#askmark Hello Mark. After narrowing my own choice for a base layer to 4th Element's, J2 or Xerotherm to compliment my Artic (any advice also welcome on this choice), none seemed to be designed or mention pee valves. Is there an undersuit designed for this or do I cut a very careful hole?

#askmark hi mark can you give me some advice on semi-dry suits, and which one do you find best? Cheers. Tony

#askmark with no STA do you just use the cam band/s to attach the backplate to the wing or do you also use bolts/book screws?

#AskMark Hello Mark, I am taking my Rescue Diver course this summer and am considering taking the Divemaster course as well. I do not plan on working as a dive professional but who knows what the future may hold. What are your thoughts on taking the Divemaster course for the additional knowledge and training? Is the class worth taking if I don’t plan on going on to being an instructor or working in the field? Thank you.

#askmark Hi Mark, starting to pack for a trip to Mexico. It got me thinking as I was taking the weight pouches of my BPW what is in your warm water travelling scuba bag? BPW, regs, dsmb + reel, mask…fins + booties or closed heel fins? Wetnotes? Line cutter or knife? Torch? Interested to know.

I recently signed up for a divemaster course (will start in September) without any intention of working in the dive industry. As I don’t live near an ocean it was about taking some time to just focus on and improve diving without having to pay for every dive and course individually.

As semi-dry you should check out the Camaro Gamma X-treem! A really warm 7mm semi-dry!

Love how you're befuddled by the divemaster question. I'm actually considering doing it myself. Not to go the professional career potential, but for personal knowledge and experience, and the potential to help new divers fall in love with the hobby. Too many stories about new students having bad experiences when learning.

my FE arctic undersuit has a pee valve hole, my xerotherm doesnt however, the arctic is a one piece and xerotherm a 2 piece (bought that for summer diving but i layer it underneath my arctic aswell when it gets to low single figures. it might be worth checking whether a xerotherm 1 piece has a pee valve hole as i have a feeling it does, just not on the 2 piece sets.

Thank you for answering my question in this week’s episode. You gave me some things to think about that I didn’t consider and helped me lean more towards taking the course then I already was.

#askmark I recently got my first regulator (apeks xtx50) while reading the manual I read that I shouldn’t use grade E or EN 12021 air if I plan on using it for Nitrox. Which grade air is safe to use? And what is the most common grade air?

Hey Mark! My dive shop told me I can’t use nitrox with an atomic T3 regulator. I know they make their own nitrox and not a premixed blend. I know titanium can react with O2. Does this also apply to titanium in my SSI titanium inflator for my BC2. Thanks #askmark

#askmark From what I've seen, people in colder waters (Europe) tend to go towards a twin setup while in warmer waters (SEA, Mexico etc.) sidemount is a much more common setup. Is there a logical reason for this related to climate?

#askmark do you recommend having your own cylinder or just to rent one already full from the local dive shop?

Got me with the AF joke... damn you. Was speaking with my instructor last night whilst my daughter was on her OW course. The more I think about it the more I'm going to itch to instruct myself eventually. I'm a teacher by 'trade' and it pains me that I can't give any official help to other divers in the club. I think it's in my nature to want to help but, of course, it has to be done safely, meaning I need to get to that point that I'm sure I know what I'm doing and being constructive.... going to have to bite the financial bullet eventually but I'm a long way from DM/assistant instructor etc ;)

I went through DM training. No intention of teaching. Go tech 40 instead. Then cave or wreck. Trimix and ccr.

Why not go for technical diving courses rather than Dive Master? You get those extra skills and knowledge as well as being able to do more types of diving.
