It is interesting to me how that you have changed the suspension affects the 0-60 time also how the setting on your new suspension affects it. Also how the tires affects it. Is the same with the 19" and the 20", how about if you use the same model of tires for the both cars.
One thing about the Ionic I did not hear you address as you did in the past about your Tesla.. Does it have a good place on the floor for your buggers?
Would your upgraded suspension made a difference?
Try holding down the brake on the Ionic then press the go pedal all the way to the floor then release the brake. Interested on that time. It seems to be a launch mode to me.
All good... do this thru the 1/4 mile or a 30-70 or 30-80. Be intersting to show how these two compare in acceleration while at speed. Good stuff none the less👍

I just got the Ioniq 5 Limited AWD. Had a Model Y, but was one of the minority of folks who had serious phantom braking issues, to the point where it became really dangerous, so I traded it, and now am back in an EV 8 months later. Overall, both are great cars. I find the Ioniq 5 a better fit for me because I rely on CarPlay for Waze, Audible, and Apple Music. I really prefer it because of that plus the heads up display, and find it overall more comfortable (but perhaps less sporty) over bumps. FWIW, our other car is a PHEV, so for long trips, we’ll be using that to avoid dealing with the inconsistent stats of non Tesla Superchargers atm. Also, Hyundai’s adaptive cruise control and what they call HDA2, is seriously significantly better than Autopilot in my view. Tesla’s will be better as it learns more thanks to their AI. But right now, it really isn’t better. Examples, the Hyundai handles construction zones, overpasses, cars merging onto the highway a lot better. It auto changed lanes far less aggressively (and you don’t need FSD or a similar expensive option for that). I miss the frunk. I miss the Performance because I paid the $2k to get the extra performance (well worth it). I miss the supercharger network. Other than that, I prefer the Hyundai. But both are great as long as you don’t have one with severe phantom braking.

I rented a 2022 Model 3 Performance off Turo. I experienced ALOT of phantom breaking on a 4 hour drive multiple times, and I experienced even more of it on the return trip. I only ever read about it, never experienced it until then. It was pretty scary because I had no idea what was happening.

The weight difference between the 2 vehicles is only 200lbs

What was the % of battery left in both cars at the time you did the test. Also not sure but did you use the identical measuring tools? I heard a voice on the Tesla but not on the Ionic. BEVs crap out the faster you go, partly due to lack of gears and secondly due to inherent problem of any electric motor is the BACK-EMF What causes back emf in a motor? A motor has coils turning inside magnetic fields, and a coil turning inside a magnetic field induces an emf. This emf, known as the back emf, acts against the applied voltage that's causing the motor to spin in the first place, and reduces the current flowing through the coils of the motor.

Unfortunately 0 60 does not tell the whole story. For some reason Model Y seems to be limited in initial torque. While both got around 4.75, ionic 0 30 is 1.88 vs MY 0 30 is 2.44, that is huge. To be honest, whilst Hyundai Motorgroup has been doing amazing things, (their new e-GMP platform may even ride better than the Tesla Model Y). I would still go for the Model Y. You can't beat the infotainment system that Tesla provides. I have watched most of my Netflix, Disney+ and KZread TV at Superchargers. Hyundai infotainment doesn't even have those streaming services. In addition, the only viable state right now for all EVs is California as the charging network for EVgo and Electrify America pale in comparison to Tesla's Supercharging network. Another thing that I find quite useful that Hyundai vehicles in North America lack is the amazing Sentry Mode Tesla's have. People forget all the cool things that Tesla brings to the table after each update. I have not tested native Hyundai navigation vs. Tesla's Google Maps, but I assume that Tesla's Google Maps is better.
@wtfx5757
2 жыл бұрын
All great, but factor in the true cost to own, and you are looking at a significant cost difference. Tesla is not eligible for the tax credit and the model y is already significantly more expensive. Furthermore, the charging network is mute if someone intends to use the vehicle locally. Sure, if it’s your primary vehicle and you do a lot of out of state traveling I’ll give the supercharger network a nod based on the reliability alone. But for 90% of people who charge at home on a level 2, the ioniq will be fine. I’d also argue the little things the ioniq has as an advantage-rear sun shades, retractable sunshade for roof, sliding center console, ventilated seats, etc. All for significantly less money, even more if you can take advantage of the 7500 tax credit.
