Which is better, gas or diesel. Drive and talk

Ойын-сауық

A commenter brought up a decision factor for him, which i think is the most relevant one. How much speed do you need? There is no doubt a gas engine can tow its maximum rated weight which in some cases is equal or greater than its diesel twin. A diesel does it in ways a gas engine can never do. Slightly better fuel economy, which adds up over the length of a trip or the life of the truck. For those of you living in the country, your life slower might be a bit slower, more planned and more deliberate. I know when i lived in the city and tired to travel for some fun over the weekend everything was hastily planned and required the turn and burn that a diesel is great for. Now i leave the day early and take my time, or maybe even the scenic way. Or perhaps where i used to travel, i actually do those activities at home. My needs changed to having a good local commuter which occasionally went on long trips. I also needed a heavier duty truck for local and long distance hauling of big things. So the f350 7.3 became my daily and a very affordable daily at that and hopefully is going to open the door to my F450 joining the team and being my HD work truck. Good things are coming, i hope they are for my viewers too. Have a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday.

I have absolutely no need for a diesel, but i got one simply for the enjoyment of driving it, tinkering with it, and hearing it. imo, worth the price

@@The_holy_stromboli iv got a few too. Need is a big word. I define need as in nothing else will work. For that reason light trucks dont need diesels but i sure like them and they are handy for many reasons. And as i mentioned safety in the mountains. I think holding realistic speed is important and the exhaust brake is safe for going down hill. On flat land there is alot of reason to have a gas especially if it opens the door to afford other toys to use it with. If it helps you buy the boat or rv you want, who can fault that?

I got an f350 7.3 2022, and I'm really happy I sold my 2017 diesel f350 during corona and made a profit, but fellas really this new 7.3 is the real deal, yes you will hear of a few bugs here and there, its a new engine and they will work them out.... but I firmly advise anyone who's towing under 17,000 pounds to get the 7.3 you won't have to worry about the diesel, it's price ,it's maintenance and it's emission problems. If you're towing anything over 17k then you're gonna have to get the diesel and deal with it side effects.

Good video. I’m seriously considering buying a 7.3 V8 over a diesel. The cost is cheaper on maintenance, the vehicle purchase itself and just overall ownership of the vehicle. If you pull under 14 K get a gas. If you pull over 14 K on a regular basis get a diesel.

When it comes to need thats probably pretty close. But want is another thing. Even a small trailer obviously tows easier with a diesel. Just comes down to what you like. But need is a different deal, the 7.3 does very well. Its a great gas engine

@@greatlakespowerstrokefx4 I agree. But when you were small, one truck business owner every penny counts and right now a gas engine just seems more economical.

Awesome video! What trim level is on your truck, love those headlights, definitely want to get them! What rear ratio are you running in the 7.3? I am considering a extended cab, long bed, 7.3 with a 430 rear for a daily driver and for what I tow.

3.73 its an stx. I love how it looks too. Would be great with 4.30. If that was available on the lot i would have opted for that. I dont have 80 Mph speed limits like texas so 4.30 wouldnt have a downside. We do have 75 mph speed limit on a few highways but i might travel them a hand full of times a year. 65 on some country roads. Anyway the stx looks sweet and given its price it looks a heck of alot higher trim than it is. My main goal was trading in my high trim diesel for a lower trim cloth seat gasser with a middle front seat. My equity in my old truck meant this is a very small purchase and so far im extremely happy with it.

What year and model is the truck that has all analog gauges? The 2023 & up trucks mostly have digital bar graph gauges which are absolutely terrible!!!

This is an stx i think the digital screen becomes an option on xlt. Ill tell you right now that is not what ill be buying. I love the real gauges and those screens tend to glitch. No thank you. I think the stx is a really nice example of what you need and not having what you dont need. If anything im extremely happy with my truck as a whole and specifically that it is an stx

@@greatlakespowerstrokefx4 Great! Your analog gauges are very functional and easy to read plus they make the instruments look so much nicer! Ford really took a giant step backwards when they did the bar graph gauges - hard to read and looks like a mess! This has nothing to do with digital gauges as many manufacturers use digital representation of analog gauges and they look just fine!

@@LWRC could not agree more. I think its funny all the people who look down on analog gauges. The digital gauges convey less information at a glance. I thought we were trying to keep eyes on the road

@@greatlakespowerstrokefx4 Great minds think alike! You took the exact words right out of my mouth!!! Absolutely positively 1000% correct!! The whole purpose of instrumentation is to convey information to the driver in the clearest, fastest and most efficient manner and nothing does that better than pure analog gauges! In fact, once you know the scale values for both the tach and speedo, you just have to glance at the relative positions of the gauge needle and not even look at the numbers! I think you will find a lot less bs with rhe 6.7 than you are used to. But the 6.2 is a very fine engine. One of the most reliable v8 gas engines in a pickup ever and it isnt a slouch. It out performs a Chevy 6.0 while being as reliable if not more and out performs the 6.4 hemi while being more reliable. Thanks for watching

Empty this thing is great. 15-16 pretty easily doing 55. Usually around 14.5 when doing 70 empty on highway. Hook a small trailer and you are down by 12 and a bigger on 10 basically on the dot. Its very very good for a gas engine. But its a few behind a un deleted diesel when towing and maybe a few empty too. If someone liked to hear the exhaust and accelerate hard from a traffic light all the time they could easily get 12 empty too. I drive pretty economically. This from a diesel owner. The 7.3 is by far the best gas engine iv driven. But it is not a diesel when towing. It all depends on how quick you want to get up to speed and on hills, how worried you are about holding speed. If you are not in a rush as a norm and dont mind giving it a foot full to hold speed on a grade its a great set up. Defiantly the least compromise for a gas engine iv owned or driven. And iv basically owned all modern gas engines besides the new gm 6.6 gas and all reviews point to the 7.3 handily out towing it
