    Great review. I've carried the Izzula2 for awhile now and love it. It's my EDC choice, backpack choice and served as a primary back up when I worked undercover. Now that I'm retired I still find it as my favorite all around knife.

    Great comparison between the two. I love it when knives have that slight curvature from tip to butt like the JG3 has. The Buck Punk has it as well and I've found I really like that design. Hence the reason the JG3 is so interesting to me.

    Awesome as always! I ended up grabbing a Hogue ex-f01 7in like we discussed on one of your other videos last month. I'm pleased with it. The A2 tool steel is awesome and takes a beating. Did cause a hot spot in my palm though. I'm tempted to send it to you for your opinion. Keep up your reviews though. You and I have a lot of the same opinions and I really use you reviews to help purchase decisions when I can't always get the products in hand first. Looking forward to you doing one on the Survive Knives GSO 4.7 in the future too.

    Friend just bought the JG3. He sold me his barely used Izula II (what looks to me like never used is more like it) for $35, so I'm a very happy camper, love that little knife. Using it as my neck knife right now. It fits my hand better than any small knife I've ever had. While I love leather sheaths, I really like the plastic sheath with the Izula II.

    Love them both. I love the JG3 for whittling next to the campfire at night most of all (it's a more specialized knife to me) and I love the Izula II as a more general slightly more versatile camp/woods knife capable of processing small fire/resource-wood up to a certain level or in a real pinch. PS, I think I recognize that "cutting-test paracord" you're using, I have a bunch I got at Home Depot on the cheap myself ; )

    The Izula and Izula 2 both are now available in stainless and do hold an edge well and have no coating (stonewash). Personally I have a large hand but prefer the Izula as it pocket carries quite well in a KSF pocket sheath.

    Great, informative video. I just found this out 30 minutes ago but did you know you can convert the polymer sheath that comes with the Izula 2 to scout/horizontal carry? When you turn the clip up/down to screw onto the sheath you only use 2 screws offset because all 4 holes won’t line up, but 2 holes do. Thought I’d share.

    I love my Izula 2. The JG3 seems like a good idea, but I'd really like to see it a little thinner... 3/32" probably. I agree with you, it is overpriced. At $120, I'd rather spend another $30 and get a custom. Great videos on the knife.

    with the shape of the handle, I think the JG3 might actually be a pretty decent defense knife. it does have less of a guard, but it does have some, and more than a lot of tactical knives ive seen. I dunno,. Both awesome knives.

  • @sweetcostarica
    @sweetcostarica8 жыл бұрын

    The idea of the Camp-Lore series is to produce different knives for different tasks in the woods. Here are what those knives are designed to do: The Camp-Lore JG3 is ESEE's trapper/skinning knife. The Camp-Lore ESEE RB3 is their bushcraft/camping knife The Camp-Lore CR2.5 is the companies bird & trout knife The Camp-Lore DC6 is their old fashion big frontier knife You can use the JG3, RB3, CR2.5, or the DC6 for camping, skinning, chopping, or everyday carry. They can cross over. I'm just saying ESEE designed the knives to work best as specific tools. *Opinion Alert:* For their price there are a lot of better performing options out there that are cheaper.

    What happened to the White River backpacker? You convinced me to buy it. Was somewhat disappointing as it came stock but after more skeletonizing done with lots of time with a dremel & re-wrapping the para-cord so it wraps further to the front, I like it. Haven't baton with it yet though.

    I must first confess that I did not understand your video compare theme. I though is was about comparing top small fixed blade knife options. I now realize it was a video to compare 2 similar offer in the ESEE line. PS. The backpacker is growing on me with the new mods, I am a bit crazy about weight & was surprised it weighted more than my izula 1 since the blade is thinner, great news lots of metal available in the handle to be removed. So work later they now both weight the same thing & the blade is a bit longer the handle quite a bit more room. As much as I like a good guard, I found the finger groove on the backpacker a bit too deep, I changed the para-cord wrap to go forward then back to fill in the finger groove a bit... comfy! : ) Tks for the videos & comments.

    As for the sheathes, I see where you are coming from, but prefer l leather sheathes because they are more slim and flexible. A leather sheath also makes the blade look less tactical and more like a tool if your carrying it in public. However, I'm not a fan of this sheath because there is not strap or cover.
