HJC RPHA 90
The HJC RPHA90 is the successor to the HJC MAX EVO and it is the ultimate flip up helmet in HJC’s new collection. Just like the RPHA11 and the RPHA70, the RPHA90’s outer shell is made from a P.I.M. fibre mix. They have made use of different types of fibre structures to make the shell extremely light, but also very strong.
HJC has also put a lot of work into improving the helmet’s noise resistance. The aerodynamics have been vastly improved and the RPHA90 also have a closable top ventilation intake - which also compliments the noise reduction.
The 3D interior is not only very comfortable, it has also been provided with an anti-bacterial treatment to eliminate bad odours. The interior is of course removable and washable.
This flip up helmet has been equipped with a metal quick locking chin strap buckle, which makes it easy to open and close - but offers you maximum security. The RPHA90 also comes with a Pinlock Max Vision anti-fog lens insert.

AGV Sport Modular
Carbon flip up helmet that offers the best of both worlds: the comfort of a flip up helmet and the performance of a full face helmet. The helmet is completely made from carbon, even the chin bar. The helmet shell has been built in the same way as that of the AGV Pista GP R. So this is a seriously strong helmet shell.
Another special feature is the large visor. The AGV Sport Modular offers a horizontal field of view of 190 degrees. That is the widest that the human eye can see, in other words this helmet offers perfect sight. This flip up helmet has been developed using a wind-tunnel. This provides the helmet with exceptional aerodynamics and low noise. This also helps optimise the ventilation of the helmet.
AGV Sportmodular Specifications:
Outer shell material: Carbon
Outer shell sizes: 3
Inner shell: 5 different EPS densities in 4 different sizes
Double D chin strap buckle
Interior: removable, washable, anti-bacterial and moisture absorbing
Visor: Optic 1, anti-scratch
Pinlock: Max Vision 120 anti-fog lens insert
Sun visor: Integrated and anti-scratch
Outer shell optimised for aerodynamics. No dynamic weight at a speed of 130 km/h
Adjustable spoiler
Interior is optimised for perfect shape without pressure points and to reduce noise. Removable nose piece and chin curtain
Interior has two sides: warm side which feels soft and nice, cool side which offers extra freshness
Also suitable for wearers of glasses

I used to have the HJC RPHA Max and later on the Max Evo, but for the weight, sightline and comfort I went for the AGV a few months ago. Love it for all the things named in the video. One downside though, the lining gets loose at the red plastic clips on the back every time......Thinking about using glue.....

I felt same exactly like you. The HJC was way more pleasant on the melon. I do love the AGV design, but comfort is the key. Going to get the new 90S Carbon. I think the HJC will best for riding my new GW Tour. The Neo Tech 2 is way heavier then the HJC.

I feel the review is a little bias towards AGV... i currently own both and both are very different helmets; AGV is louder in noise and padding is not as comfortable, BUT ventilation and weight is superb!!! Bear in mind i am a perfectionist; i owned the AGV first and wasn't happy with it. Thus purchasing the HJC... which only two things i am wary off, which are slightly heavier and lightly less ventilation. And one more thing; with great ventilation sure comes with great noise!!! Where else is the air/ ventilation going???

  • @FortaMoto

    @FortaMoto

    6 жыл бұрын

Biased in which way? The review is based on a personal experience, which can differ per bike and riding position (and head shape, and taste etc.) - However, I do believe that what you are stating is pretty much what I said in the review. The AGV's ventilation is very good, as is the stability and the weight of the helmet.

well, very good review but 2 things: 1. HJC - if you were not sure whether the back vent was open or not- it would make a huge difference I guess during the 130km/h test ; a crucial setting for the vent to work - when open ;) 2. in general it is quite interesting that you choosed to compare the buckets which differ in price significantly... (now: 430 vs 700Eur in the German www shop); for such a higher price the AGV should be far better than HJC but it is just a little bit in overall I see... Thx for the review anyway!

Another comprehensive road test in real conditions. Well done. Overall out of the 4 tested are you saying Shoei Is probably best? Also neotec 2 or gt air as I don’t actually NEED a flip front but sort of see the benefit. Currently have gt air that’s nearly 5 years old so looking to change soon

The Neotec 2 is probably the best allround modular helmet on the market. However if you don't need the flip up system, the GT-Air is a pretty good alternative if you prefer a sport/touring helmet!

Hi. I bought this helmet last saturday and i'm a little bit sad, because the weather in Portugal is cold in the morning, around 7/8 degrees and the visor fogs up very quickly, even with the air intakes all open. I didn't install the pinlock, but I think I'll have to... anyone else having the same thing happen to this specific helmet? Apart from this detail, I love the helmet: good construction, light, with very good soundproofing. Thanks for the review!

You said a modular makes more noise than a full face? Not sure where you got that opinion from as modulars because they flip have more padding around the neck and prevents more noise from coming in.

I have the AGV helmet a few days and weights not 1295gr but 1400gr (M)!!! I’am disappointed at that. Further its very quit and easy to operate! Exept the button of the sunvizor. Its hard to find but you get used to it. The click open en totally down is to heavy. Down i dont push it in its locked position en leave it against that point. I have a worn out neck so i need a light helmet. With cold weather the pinlock gets wet and foggy at the bottom but the view stays ok. The vent ducks are not difficult to operate and very good ventilation. Ill drive a Road King wind screen btw

I’m surprisingly disappointed in my AGV. It lets in much more wind noise than my Neotec. I didn’t want to go to a ratchet strap on the new Neotec. The AGV fit better than both the HJC and Schuberth on my head and the lighter weight was a big plus. I did get the sportmodular for $599 though. Small solace given the significantly greater wind issue. I think it might have some to do with the somewhat looser fit of the XL AGV on the sides than my L size shoei. I can more easily put my glasses on with the AGV. The AGV is still a tight enough fit to be safe, though. I am going to have to see what I can do as the AGV is not returnable.

I am a Neotec L and a Sportmodular L and I think XL on the AGV might well be to big and to loose on your head, hence the noise issues. I even got myself the fatter M cheekpads for my L AGV to have it sealed better.
