This is why I still love this this platform. A middle-aged man raging about 30 year old hockey games with a cat sleeping in the background. Flames/Lightning game 6 better be on here Shannon!
“I worked that night, I didn’t see that game. I wasn’t surprised.” Shannon’s classic delivery.
I'm 55, and was a Bobby Orr era Bruins fan. There is literally no scenario where I would feel comfortable with Boston playing Montreal. None. If Boston was 81-0 and Montreal was 0-81, I'd assume Guy LaFleur would somehow score from beyond the grave to put game 82 away. Fair to say I'm scarred from the 70s & 80s era.

@@RoderickJMacdonald In some ways, I feel lucky as a Habs' fan since 2005 only, because I didn't live through the multiple dynasties the team had between the 1940s and 1970s. I have had only expectations of pain and dreams cut short, and so when the team has had fleeting glimpses of temporary success, such as in 2010, 2014 and 2021, I have been satisfied with it, though none of those years involved the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge hoisting the Cup. The cap era meant re-calibrating expectations for basically all NHL fans; dynasties may well be a thing of the past, and that's probably a good thing.

I'm pretty sure they would play each other more then once a year, so 81-0 and 0-81 are mathematically impossible
So moral of the story is Boston angers THG. They either lose in epic fashion or win the only time THG ddnt want them to. Respect to you Shannon for staying a fan of your teams!

I'm very surprised you didn't add Boston's epic game 7 collapse against Philly. Up 3-0 in the series and 3-0 in the game, only to lose! Boston has been a great team over the last decade but they surely can choke just as well as any other team.

That was probably the toughest series Detroit had in that entire Cup run - yes, even moreso than the 7 game WCF against Colorado (that's not a knock on Colorado either; that's just how much Vancouver put Detroit through the wringer). The West Coast Express gave me nightmares when they were clicking on all cylinders, and Prime Todd Bertuzzi just laying waste to Chris Chelios during that series left me feeling....conflicted to say the least.

Shannon is better at fitting information on a board than any college professor or teacher I ever had.
As a Canucks fan i already knew what would be Shannon's number one rage quit game. Lol. Us Canuck fans all raged quit during that series.
Quite surprised the reverse sweep against the Flyers didn't make the cut.

It has to be said, what other KZreadr comes up with three or four videos a day on your feed during the off season but Mr. Guy? And I believe it when other KZreadrs talk (don't wanna say whine) about how much time and energy goes into these videos, I have absolutely no doubt that this is true. All hail Mr. Hockey Guy! The iron man of the interweb!
I have never raged quite as hard as I did in 2019, Blues vs Sharks game 3. I was screaming hand pass at the top of my lungs. Watching that puck go in after a hand pass sent me over the edge. I was convinced for a night that the NHL was stacking the deck against my Blues. My anger quelled when the Blues won the next 3 games and then eventually the Cup. But that one night after game 3, I don’t think I’ve ever been that mad over sports. I honestly considered never watching hockey again.

This was my first season closely following the NHL and it's good to know that the Stars have a time honored tradition of bad luck in game 6's
In 2011, Alain Vigneault should have pulled Luongo earlier to WAKE UP the Canucks in those games. Vigneault used to drive me crazy that playoff year. He'd only pull Luongo WHEN the game was FAR out of reach - and everyone could see that the Bruins were in Luongo's head at the START of the game. Team psychology is a huge disadvantage when your team & goalie aren't at their best. Canucks needed to act early - and Vigneault would NEVER quickly yank Luongo & put in Schneider. ARGH!!! Still angry at the missed opportunity.
Great List!

Shannon, I am surprised that game 3 of Wales Conference Final did not make the list where the Penguins won 4-1 and Ulf took out Neely.
I'm surprised to not see the stars Vs Knights game in the list
That 2011 Vancouver run was so hard to watch die in the finals (especially as someone who hates the Bruins). Only run I'd say is more painful was when San Jose went to the finals vs. Pittsburgh - love both teams but I'd happily have given '16 to the Sharks and let the Pens keep '17
Kelly Hrudey makes 73 saves on the way to one of the greatest individual efforts in NHL playoff history and you are pitching a fit...my mouth was still hanging open 20 minutes after the game ended.😊
Totally understand what you mean when saying you get nervous after 6 straight home wins and the team you cheer for has home ice advantage in game 7. I got the same feeling in the Swedish playoffs of 2021/22 where this actually happened. Six straight home wins in the final, only for my team to lose game 7 at home, not scoring (0-3) as well. While I "knew"/feared it would happen, it totally crushed my spirit....
The 2011 Canucks, bruins final was the most frustrating series for me. After game five, I remember saying out loud, the Canucks are going to loose.
2000 First round game 7 SJ at StL still hurts today
"might have said a bad word..." hahahaha!
Wild vs Canucks game 7 in 2003 was brutal. I was like 15 it rocked my whole world.
There’s a hole in the wall the size of a can of beer in my old apartment that was created when Derek Stepan scored the Game 7 OT GWG in 2015. I never thought the Caps would win a Cup, it just seemed like we were doomed. The next two years didn’t help either.

Gotta put my vote in for... ---------------------------------------------- April 19, 2004 1st. Round - CGY vs. VAN - Game 7 This game made me lose it, because of the damn roller-coaster of emotions in this series.. Going from feeling hyped after being the eighth seed, and managing to trade games early on, Sinking after CGY wins games 4, and 5 handily. Then some faint glimmer of hope returns after VAN has a long fought 3OT game 6 win. Jump forward with the nerve-wracking game 7, now in the dying seconds of the 3rd period and the feelings of complete resignation have fully set in as CGY is leading 2 - 1. Then (right after Jovanovski took a penalty that will at no point be consequential... don't even worry) Like a captain possessed and pure clutch... Naslund scores with 5 or so seconds left to tie the game, and force OT... Having just had it blown off, my house was in need of roof repair! Throughout the entire 20 min. intermission, we are all positively buzzing, practically planning (miles away from reality at this point) the Stanley Cup Parade Route!! OT Starts... Let me tell ya... My psyche (after the series long emotional Yo-Yoing) fell from those heady heights pretty abruptly when at only... one and half minutes into OT (remember that "inconsequential" Jovo penalty...) Martin Gelinas scored a power play goal to (if I'm being honest) mercifully end things for us fans. I hope a remembered things accurately....
I remember 2, 4, and 16. Great moments in my opinion.
I was at game six Canucks v Boston in the Stanley Cup Final as a Vancouverite. Drove all the way from BC rocking BC plates in Boston as a young 20 year old. Bought a ticket off of a scalper wearing a 70's Orr sweater for 680$ USD. Wearing my Bertuzzi jersey alone in that crowd was intimidating to say the least.

Tampa giving up a 4-1 lead in recent playoff year made me stop watching that series and because it was Toronto . The entire recent Stanley cup final was annoying because the Panthers played so bad and was hoping for a good and long series . Penguins winning the cup both years 2016 and 2017 because I couldn’t stand seeing Murray win the cups instead of Fleury who should of been playing . Game 5 of 2020 cup final Corey Perry scoring winner in OT .
