Which game settings cause the most lag? - Nvidia Reflex Latency Analyzer

Nvidia’s G-SYNC module hasn’t had a lot of love lately, but that all changes with new Reflex-enabled displays like the ASUS ROG SWIFT PG259QNR, which can tell you just how slow your game really is.

Title is a bit misleading. I was hoping you were going to showcase a piece of software that Knows what game settings to use to give you the best game performance... I just want games to have a thing where you tell it what resolution you want it to run at, and what frame rate, and it will dynamically Adjust the Texture quality, Anti Aliasing, ETC to keep you at that resolution or frame rate. Or have it work backwards. Say I always want MAX settings 60FPS and instead it will adjust Resolution to keep me at the MAX visual settings while hitting 60fps. Like a more customizable dynamic resolution

Not just our eyes, our brain and our entire perception of existence lives in the past. We can never truly see the "present" due to speed of light and time it takes to process information in the brain. Even when you're listening and talking it's all just the past due to speed of sound and again, brain/ear processing time. Even when we try to think about the "present" it's already slightly the past, lol.
I was going to say: The values on CSGO were probably fluctuating quite a bit since the muzzle flash isn't always at the same time, or might not even show up at all.

As a disabled gamer who uses an eye tracker to control my mouse, I loathe nothing more in the world than a latency lag. I am currently in a frustrating situation that has made my eye tracker mouse software significantly lag in responding to the area I want to click. This is a new issue post windows update. Imagine going to click an icon on your desktop and the mouse being half a second behind. It hurts me. I might send this video over so the understand my frustration with the delay!

Can you revert the windows update? Maybe mess with priority settings in Task Manager too, make sure your program has high priority.
@storm37000
3 жыл бұрын
Low/No risk option: Make sure all your drivers are up to date and enable high performance power plan (and/or lookup how to enable the ultimate performance power plan, It is real and comes with windows but it is hidden by default). Also try disabling devices you dont use in device manager, things like realtek drivers can be horrible, especially when outdated, causing high DPC/system latency and often BSODs. More risky option: Use Msi Util from guru3d (the link will be on a big forum post named "Windows: Line-Based vs. Message Signaled-Based Interrupts.") Change your GPU driver mode to msi if it supports it, this has a very unlikely chance to temporarily make the driver stop working if it somehow falsely reports that it supports it, a reinstallation of the driver or turning off msi mode in safe mode will fix it if this happens. You can also try enabling msi for your others drivers that support it, especailly your USB driver if your tracking system uses USB(which it likely does). If you have the option of using the old PS/2 port, then use it, it has a much more direct link to the CPU and has much lower latency then USB. Higher risk option: Overclock CPU to get your DPC/system latency down as I strongly notice the increase in latency if i let the cpu clock down much below base clock on my ryzen 1800x.
@storm37000
3 жыл бұрын
I remember early windows 10 feeling like trying to run underwater with how bad the system latency felt just in the desktop with the 2d effects, it has improved over the 3 years after i built this PC, it seems to improve with each update, this could just be nvidia drivers to blame or windows, or even the AMD ryzen chipset drivers being buggy in first gen ryzen but improving.

Would have loved to see if G-Sync would impact latency since there is always this question when it comes to VRR
I suggest tracking the bullet counter instead of muzzle flash.

No there’s a delay in the bullet counter, and it is not that noticeable to the program so it will have difficulty in noticing the bullet counter changed

@@rayyanshaikh5591 what do you mean there's a delay? you don't even specify any game, certainly no delay in any competent game. muzzle flash is just an effect so it's not consistent. also you can set the size and sensitivity of the area that is being inspected. I have no idea why you would have these opinions. game dev btw.

I was going to say the charging handle on the M4 that slides back every time the exact same way.

@@rayyanshaikh5591 You can then just record comparative latency

@@Mycon how is the program supposed to record the bullet counter? It barely changes when you fire the gun, do you think just 1 number changing will be enough to trigger the program???

The transition from super nerdy tweaking levels to straight up gamer tweaking levels was insanly satisfying to watch

Heh heh "will it just *monitor* the entire image?" Don't they all
5:46 - 5:50 :D i am very curious about the story :))) ^ ^ nice aim , really !
16:18 Oef!! Good save there Linus. Good save indeed. I'm sure nobody noticed that little Freudian Slip there. XD XD XD
So, the whole video consisted of them guessing which game setting to use.
"I think thats the kind of thing where if you can tell the difference, you are an idiot." Linus throwing shade against the entire "audiophile" community.
If this comment does get looked at by Linus, or Anthony or anyone else at LMG I personally would love a retro build like what you were talking about at 9:35. I like the new latest and bleeding edge shiz that comes out. But revisiting the things of old is just fun, and when that nostalgia from a game or sounds ( like a old hard drive) hits you like a ton of bricks you feel amazing.
lots of love to Anthony!

It's been solved, it's called cocaine. Too bad about the side effects though...
I would love to have this spit out an excel spreadsheet and/or a line graph
This is very interesting to me. I play guitar and have been into home recording for a long time. When playing with virtual amps etc. you can definitely feel the difference in lag between lets say 5ms and 10ms.

Linus - Woah, that is way worse, I guess we're only at 200 fps now Me who can't even get 30 fps - *Thumb up sad cat meme*
