I like and always recommend a low luster paint on the exterior of a home, except for the front door and shudders for that a good satin or gloss as in Benjamin Moore's Grand Entrance. It levels great and gives a lot of durability for washing off dirt and hand prints.

Hi, I'm really struggling with picking low sheen or semi gloss for my patio roof. It's an older house so there is slight waving to it. I like the low sheen option but have to keep in mind I do have geckos and moths that make it dirty. (I'm painting it lexicon-half) any help would be great. 😊

Could I paint just a certain spot on siding that got discolored from chemical drip on it? What sheen is siding naturally? The siding has never been painted. Thanks!

Sure wish t would have seen this before painting my 100 year old cedar shake garage. We went with Benjamin Moore regal select in low luster at the advice of the salesman. We find it too shiny! We have been told that the sheen will lessen over time. Is this true? How long? What prep work would we need to do to repaint the garage with flat paint?

I live in a big house in the middle of a field. We went with a gray and every gray comes out blue for some reason. We did 2 coats of different grays with satin and it both came out blue.. So we are thinking the sky is reflecting off from the sheen causing it to look blue. So we are doing a 3rd coat but using flat instead of satin thinking the sky will no longer reflect off the sheen. Is it fine to switch from satin to flat on the final coat?

Firstly, love your videos. Secondly, our old colonial house’s exterior is being painted this summer. Our painter uses Benjamin Moore and has advised us to use flat for the siding to hide all the imperfections. But it seems that low lustre would be more durable. Any other thoughts on how to make this decision?

Would a satin finish be appropriate for the fascia part of a typical asphalt shingle roof? We have a lot of problems with mold and soot from the shingles staining the fascia and it needs CONSTANT washing.

A customer once told me to use a semigloss for the siding of her house...it was so reflective the sunshine was reflecting off the siding like a mirror strong enough that it would feel warm

Maybe it has been asked: GARAGE DOORS. With Benjamin Moore AURA. Would YOU recommend Low Lustre OR Satin ??

You mentioned the one degree skipping rule. For my HOA I can use flat or matte exterior body. Would flat body and semi-gloss trim be ok? Or should I keep the trim flat as well.

What happens if I paint my outdoor shed with inside paint

Is Benjamin Moore soft-gloss a good option for porch ceilings? The gables are open and the ceilings would include the soffits. I planned for the trim to be soft-gloss. (We’re painting over new Hardee Board. The siding would be low-lustre.)

Sounds like a satin or eggshell finish. I don't think is matte.

Can I apply a shinny clear coat on top of exterior latex acrylic paint?

Hi there! Yes, it is possible to seal exterior paints with a clear polyurethane topcoat.

I want to paint some exterior doors in my friends house 1 of them is vinyl and the other is metal....which or what kind of paint is best for these doors and can you paint the inside with the same type of exterior paint

prepare the surface by cleaning it wipe it down prime with a stix and finish with advance paint choose your sheen

You can paint the inside with the same paint too but ventilate the area well if it has a lot of odor.

with the right surface preperation any method will do exterior textured surfaces i like 2 spray and back roll ....wind conditions rough cut and roll and leave soraying for a better day

@@dolphinpaintingllc6292 Thank you. I just bought a Victorian home, in which the previous owner had it painted and within a very short time the paint is already chipping away. When talking to a historian, she mentioned that wood siding needed to be hand painting the old fashion way, and use a good quality paint. I’m concern that after spending thousands of dollars on repainting, I would need to be repainted in a short time again. So right now I’m doing research and looking for advice with professional painters.

@@wandadelacruz2486 all exterior paint should be hand painted, lots of painters simply don’t “back brush” after spraying.

@@wandadelacruz2486 hi. I think the key part that failed here is you should have used a breathable paint and primer. If moisture gets behind and there is no drying it will flake but this im just a over thinking home owner just my 2 cents

@@shahsmerdis Thank you for your input. I have not had the exterior painted of yet. It was the previous owners that had the dilema of paint chipping. I’m still doing research to make a well informed decision.

Same as body. You don’t want your garage door having a totally different sheen from the rest of the house.

@@censoredyoutube4902 I see, nothing lower than 55-60 for metal garage doors if you need it to last awhile. Some garage door manufacturers will actually void your warranty if you apply a color with too low an LRV.

Not a good idea to use flat on a house in a hot sunny, humid, rainy weather. It gets horrible in no time. I prefer satin. Washable and durable for many years.
