@@akashravishankar5144 You mean how anime brought a bunch of people to Germany, already somewhat self taught on the language? But joking aside, I think most people appreciate any attempt what so ever, especially from Americans. It's all too easy for me to sit in the melting pot of people and forget oh yeah, some countries are like 95% one race. And even the countries that do have English tourists and immigrants appreciate it. I mean, I went to Montreal a couple times and I know 99% of people are bilingual. But I made sure to learn "I'm so sorry, I don't speak French. Do you speak English?" I'd never spoken French and my pronunciation was atrocious, literally so bad someone didn't understand me at first. Yet every person but one broke out in big smiles whether they did or not, because I didn't just assume. But the best was the 14 year old madlad who got so insulted by my question that his little fit actually made me accidentally laugh... loud. What a bonus.

As a kid my grandparents would take me on holiday to Spain, when walking down the street or at the beach elderly Spanish ladies/men would stop and stare at me, they would point to my blonde hair, pale skin and green/blue eyes they would ask my grandparents to touch my hair. They would give me praise and hard boiled sweets out of their bags they had for their grandchildren, it was something so little but it was funny.

I see comments like these all the time. I think the thing is is that in general, especially Asians, people find that blonde hair and blue eyes along with pale skin are among the prettiest combination. You kind of see that in TV and movies too. I think that's probably why Korean makeup don't have many shades because they like the pale look. America is pretty diverse so I feel like we tend to like tanned skins more. You don't really hear Asians tanning unless you're into gyaru.

Maybe it's bc we've had so much immigration over the past decades here in Germany but it's just really normal to see foreigners speak a variety of levels of German. I get really shy around native speakers so sometimes I find another learner and practice with them by just having conversations on a weekly basis. It's not as good as talking with a native because they can't help spot all your errors. But if you are too shy to speak with a native it is better than not practicing at all!
