Aye, so many Scots in Canada fled for freedom essentially from England. Risked their lives and it paid of, not so much for the Scottish that stayed. Same story to this day, more Scots fleeing than there are Scots in Scotland.

Canada and Denmark seem to be the popular choices. I'm from Nova Scotia, Canada. Nova Scotia which means (New Scotland) has very strong ties with Scotland our Flag is even Similar. We love you Scotland!

We are of the same bloodline. Vikings bred in the Scottish isles that used to be under Dane law etc..

I am Scottish and I am obsessed with the nordic countries as a whole but in particular Norway. They seem to be able to do everything so well from how the saved their oil money to their prison system to their high standard of living to their architecture to their public transport and staggering scenery. The interesting geography with places such as Jan Mayan and Svalbard and the Russian border and the arctic circle. The beautiful language. Jeg elsker Norge!

Im Scottish myself but, my great grandfather came from Germany his surname was Brand as is my mothers maiden name. He married a Scottish lady with the Surname MacLeod who I was always told to never forget, my fathers side came from Ireland so yea, I got love for Germany and Ireland but Scotland has my heart.

I would have liked a lot to visit Scotland this year(and even more after watching Outlander series hehe). Unfortunately the coronavirus came and everything felt apart, so let's wait for it.

It's funny, a lot of Scottish folks really don't like the cold. Im opposite. I live in Tennessee (where its about 100 degrees F) and the winter is my favorite. I did my ancestry and most of my blood is from Northern Europe. I wonder if I'm genetically inclined to enjoy the cold... I do have some Scottish blood, so cheers to my peeps, love from the States!

There are gradations of cold, my friend. What's cold in Scotland isn't very cold in states to the north of you. Also, in the 19th century Canada was flooded with Scottish, and Canada gets extremely cold in certain parts, they didn't mind, in fact they thrived.

I was surprised at the love for Sweden and Denmark in particular. Canada was kinda unexpected too but not shocking or anything, because who doesn't like Canada?

What I like about Scotland and England and Ireland and Wales (basically the British Isles) is we have no money, no space, the population density is too much for comfort and yet we still get through life. It bugs me to see a comparison by listing happy countries who have large amounts of land (often beautiful landscape, be it forest, lakeside, hot or cold or desert) in which they can sling up a house. How nice are people when they don't get what they want?

@@toralfkristofertorkildsen3933 No, it's pretty accurate. I love the Nordic countries. I know there's some hostility between different countries in that region, but I don't understand it. So I can't form an opinion on that, but I feel a connection with them all.

I've only been to a handful of other countries outside the UK but I liked all of them. Germany was still my favourite I think. I love London as well, that's my home away from home, definitely
