Which Car Wash Features Are Your Favorite? - I Need Your Suggestions | Episode 8

As I get closer to opening my car wash I will need to decide on the features that I will have in my car wash. I've looked around at other car washes to see what they have, but I want your suggestions. Which features do you use most at the car wash?

Dam I never seen that $1 dryer either. And thanks for the shoutout bro! Ill get ya back on that one. :) I recommend two brushes for sure, one for tire cleaner and one soap brush. Will keep them in bays longer. Also you don't need a boom for the tire cleaner. My uncle and I just have the coil hoses coming from the roof with a swivel which works great might be something you can look into and see if you like it. We do the same with the pre soak. There was a lot going on with that faceplate as well almost seemed confusing lol

Well your the guy that taught me about the different types of brushes so I only though it best to shout you out. The coil hose makes sense for tire cleaner because your only spot cleaning with it basically. Good idea! By the way you going to the Vegas Car Wash Show? Email me if so.

The reason I do not like self service car wash is a lack of dryers. The drive thru dryer for $1 is a feature that would attract me. I could drive through it twice to make sure its dry. That would even apply to the tunnel car washes. I hate spending 10 minutes drying my vehicle with the free rags/towels and would rather drive through a dryer again imo.

I haven't seen one of those outdoor dryers in years, there's an old car wash where I live that had one similar to it, but it was on rails and would move back and fourth just like an automatic machine. Unfortunately, the car was was bought out by a big company and it was removed.

That air drier is a great idea. So many times I would rather do that than bring a towel or towels and have to throw them in a plastic bag so I didn't get them all over my Porsche..

This is the best bay cleaner that I have ever seen. Auto detailer here and I can say that the air dryer is maybe my favorite? This is because an air dryer will REALLY help to rid of water spots. However, having a different brush for the body and wheels is super important as well because you will drastically limit your chances for scratches and cross contamination. But also having a separate foam gun to pre lubricate the pain is also a huge plus. Idk man. This is a hard one lol

I am also researching on functions for upgrading a 8 position rotary meter box to a 13 button(12 functions+1 off button) GinSan meter box. One thing I like about their timer that goes with it, you can set functions to be "premium function" that you can set a different time per coin on. Just the foam brush is just fine, the tire/wheel cleaner+HP rinse takes care of it well. Triple foam comes in multiple different forms, it can be a conditioner, polish, clear coat, or detergent. For me, I am planning on doing triple foam detergent through the foam brush. Underbody I think is a must-have, its one of the areas of the car missed in most SS car washes. Hydro-Spray makes a simple system for it, where it has a box that diverts the flow from your HP wand to the underbody gun. For air drying, I find almost all of the small trigger guns in the bays are pointless, they just push the water around and a customer wouldn't continue using something that doesn't work, a stand-alone dryer is much more better as it has the force to actually blow it off the car. Ignore some of the people in your comments here about brushes though, they are young kids that believe common misconceptions that brushes scratch paint(Nylon brushes are a possibility), but as long as you take the precautions to rinse off the brush before hand, it is fine. Here is the list I am planning on doing for the functions: 0. Off 1. Underbody(Premium function) 2. Tire/Wheel Cleaner/Engine Degreaser 3. Bug Off(Using same chemical as presoak) 4. Presoak 5. HP Soap 6. Tri-Foam Brush 7. HP Rinse 8. Caranuba Wax(Premium function) 9. Ceramic Shield(Premium function) 10. Reflection Mirror Finish(Premium function) 11. Clear Coat Protectant 12. Spot Free Rinse

If I were you, I would do a free standing drive through dryer instead of the self serve dryers, because with MORE selfie serve bays that you have to install that air dryer in, it may actually cost MORE MONEY than a free standing dryer. Also you should do the triple foam gun, because the brushes so,etc,es hold in Rockies and salt that ruin the car’s paint. Plus you have to replace those brushes every once in a while which is an added cost the foam gun eliminates. Just something to think about.

This SS has pretty good equipment, I would mimic it the best you can. We don’t have any like this in Wisconsin, our washes are old including the tunnels. My tunnel is the most advanced for 50 miles. There’s no SS that even compares to this around us. I would get that card reader as well instead of the insert ones, people jam coins in the insert ones. I’ve never seen an automatic with a dryer like that before, pretty innovative

All the washes here have radiant floor heat run by a boiler. There is a weep system installed that runs water through the lines periodically dependant on the temperature to keep things from freezing. Also alcohol and antifreeze in the foam brush.

I have consistently driven 13 miles away to a specific wash for 3 reasons. They seem to use quality products, the wand pressure is really nice and strong, and they have hand dryers. I like to blow out all the water traps on my cars because i hand dry outside. Nothing more infuriating than getting soap and water streaks down the side of the car.

Would rather have the gun. Looks cooler for customers. Would NEVER offer anything related to engine cleaning way too much liability with newer cars. In fact I would have cameras in the bays and signs that specifically say “some car parts cannot get wet and you should never pressure wash your engine compartment”

PS. Use only hoses, swivels and fittings on your high pressure systems with at least 3000 psi or 3500 psi ratings. All others will lesser ratings will break often. Painful to maintain. BTW spot free rinse or soft water is NICE, double or triple deadbolts or cross bars on every security door is optimal. Keep the place sparkling clean, always and check all equipment yourself, at least once daily, to make sure it works as advertised. Jams and vandalism will happen daily, no doubt. Fix all damage and repair ASAP. Give out refunds and free washes out liberally as most people who lose money will never ask for refunds. Check the wash hourly or every two hours during daylight hours to keep it clean and avoid any hazzardous issues caused by messy customers. Keep kitty litter or other type absorbant materials on hand for oily spills by customers to avoid slip and fall accidents. Clean and empty out all garbage three times daily and clean out vacuums weekly. Clean out canals, drainage pipes weekly, mud sumps monthly without delay. Do not contact or talk to customers unless they are having problems or speak to you first. That is just the nature of this type of business. People do not want to be bothered and are rather independently minded. Live and let live. Don't tread on me. Don't bug me while washing. LOL
