    I just want to take a moment and admire how amazingly talented you are at communicating. There's a lot of KZreadrs that aren't good at talking, and that's 100% okey. I'm just think it's cool that you didn't use any Cuts in this video. Which means you did this all in one take with no mistakes. And I just feel like that Talent is going to be tragically underlooked.

    Thanks so much for this video. I'm currently shopping for a 2k display that supports daisy chaining via USB-C and still allows access to the USB -A ports. I was looking at the PD2506Q and PD2705Q but recent found the GW2790QT which appears to be newer. I'm using a dell latitude 5410, will I be able to run two of the GW2790QT or the others at full 2k resolution along with my laptop screen? The GW2790QT only has DP 1.2 but a better refresh rate and higher brightness.

    Dear Art… a big fan of your detailed reviews! I am in the fence about buying the BenQ 3205U … and I read about people commenting on low brightness for this model . Specs says 250 nits which is less than what some of the other companies offering at this price. In your review here you said 250 nits is not a problem. Can you pls help with some explanation? Won’t the screen look dull and darker on a bright room ? Many thanks !!

  • @ArtIsRight

    @ArtIsRight

    3 ай бұрын

    Because if you use the display for pro creative workflow 250 nits is way too bright. Most creaive descipline revolves around 80 - 160 nits. Most just look at specs and thinks that higher is better, but if you don't use or need it for the workflow, then it does not matter much. How bright is your room? It is more than enough for most room. And for creaive work - room should not be that bright.

    Been watching a lot of your videos recently. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I'm now looking for a 2K display (4k is too much for me i get lost) to pair with my new 16" macbook. I'm mainly a video editor in Davinci Resolve. I can see you recommend the higher tier 32" PD series, but they are out of my budget right now. Dell Ultrasharp U2722D 4. Viewsonic VP2756-2K 5. Dell UltraSharp U2520D 6. Asus ProArt PA278QV Would you recommend PD2705Q with 16" M1 Macbook?

    Hi Art! Loved the video! I’m having a hard time choosing a monitor since it’s my first time and I would love to get your help on this topic. So I’m a graphic, web and motion designer and I do not play games at all, I will connect my monitor to the MacBook M1 Pro 16 inch and before I discovered BenQ PD2725U I was thinking of Dell U2723QE. I'm actually planning of using filament tape and spray adhesive (like a Cyanoacrylate type) to make the box durable enough for if the monitor needs to be moved. also a very large eink display or some sort of 'reading/writing/coding display' i dont see anywhere for consumers.

    @@andrewsauter8749 The monitor arrived yesterday and works perfectly, no scaling issues. I tested it thoroughly last night. Personally I use it in different resolutions, depending on the type of work I have to do: 4k if I watch streaming content (Netflix, Prime video and so on) in M-book color mode, the immediately lower resolution if instead i have to work on photo editing (Photoshop or Lightroom Classc) in sRGB color mode, or in REC709 color mode if I have to do video editing/color grading (Da Vinci Resolve Studio) These are the 3 color modes I have set on the puck). In 4k obviously all the writings are ILLEGIBLE, but, at least for me, at the immediately lower resolution (sorry but I don't remember that, I'm not in front of the monitor) I can read everything perfectly and I didn't notice any blurring in the writings. The only negative note are the speakers which are absolutely not sufficient (but the monitor was not designed for this) and in fact I immediately ordered a pair of Presonus Eris 3.5 gen2 (entry level studio monitors which fully satisfy my needs) A small, or rather large, side note: The manufacturer indicates an avg deltaE less than or equal to 3 for this model (PD2706U), my monitor has an avg deltaE of 1.19!!! At the endI, I am super satisfied, obviously for the quality of the monitor and considering this week on the official Benq online store I paid only 406,00 Euros for it! (at least here in Italy)

The GW2790QT is marketed as the "coding display" which is what I do mostly. I like the lower price and the higher brightness and refresh rate, but it seems to only come in white which doesn't fit the aesthetic of my setup. M3 has display limitation similar to M1 and M2 of 2 displays total. In a laptop you already have one display, so you can only natively run 1 external. For you to run more you can get a dongle or a dock with DisplayLink, essentially it is a software display that enables you to have more display than allowed on your system.

    @artisright Hey Art, been a long time since last time, i commented here with an idea, to clear confusion with explanation of BENQ monitor line up, H/W - S/W caliberation etc. I guess, finally time arrives for me to pull the trigger for Benq. I have question, need your opinion regarding my video editing workstation(Windows) with 3ft Depth on table, ( Desk Size : 65 x 36 inch) . i am using one LG 34 inch ultrawide monitor already, Benq would be 2nd for color grading etc ( for one man band and his craftmanship) in Davinci Resolve, (and some time Adobe AE too) and my most work is for Digital Consumption. ( not theatre for now) PD3420Q VS PD3220U Budget is limted. Which of the above would be more suitable/efficient for me to go with? Your opinion matters in decision making. Thanks in advance. And yes, Special Thanks for clear communication and education of this display in this confusing world. Talking to the point and Specs sheet, the way Product Market communication happens, tells a lot. ( i am looking at LG, they always make people confuse while looking at Display spec sheet.) Benq website is much clear and better now.

    Which LG34" Do you have, this question is leading to resolution. Either of the BenQ will be great for what you do. The question is do you need 4K, if so PD3220U. If not then PD3420Q is still a contender. Now what is the resolution or rather PPI of your LG, getting another display that matches or come close might help with windows interface zoom and etc, as well this way both can be kept at the same percent. Hope this helps

    None of these models support Adobe RGB. Only the SW does, if you print SW is the more suitable model, I might look at the SW272Q which will match better color gamut wise and price point. Great info the PD lineup and I believe the SW271C, SW321C or the PV series will meet my needs for Photography. My only concern is that the monitors don’t have the Eye Care feature for the blue light concerns. I am in my 60’s so eye protection is very important and could explain why it’s not included ? I work on a stand up desk 60”x25” and not sure on the best size and the difference in the type set viewing that I have read about. I would appreciate and advice on these concerns on monitor choice. " My only concern is that the monitors don’t have the Eye Care feature for the blue light concerns. " Blue light can effect color perception. I would give a proper calibration a try and see how you feel before concerning about the lack of eye care. The best size display would not depend on your desk size but rather how far you sit from it. I would recommend looking at a 32" based on what you tell me.

Currently, I use the Blue Light protection screens/glasses with a protective coatings. Are you saying they shouldn’t be used when editing in order to see blue wave length? Currently, I have protective glasses and a screen on my MacBook to reduce the Blue Light. I have read one should do the following to limit eye strain- warm light color, no fluorescent/LED light bulbs, increase contrast on the screen. Don’t understand why BenQ would offer Eye Car in the lower level monitors, but not in the Professional line with more time in front of a monitor.

    @@ArtIsRight I understood your comment “Blue Light can effect color perception.” as without the blue light aspect the image wouldn’t look right. Hence, wearing blue light glasses or using a screen filter would give an incorrect image in color. Yet the BenQ website strongly endorses their blue light blocking technology, yet in the professional SW series it doesn’t seem to be mentioned, as in the entry level monitors. If using a screen filter or blue blocking glasses would you recommend increasing the luminance value from 80? Would adding a screen bar help in eye strain or does the hood prevent adding the light or would it fit through the calibration door ?

    @@mikedavis1110 "Yet the BenQ website strongly endorses their blue light blocking technology, yet in the professional SW series it doesn’t seem to be mentioned, as in the entry level monitors." That is more marketing things for their office daily use display. Usually blue light filter for displays are filtering out wave length that we may not be able to directly perceived visually but can cause eye strain. This is really more for office displays because of documents, white pages all day long or white background which sends out a lot of blue. Again different for photo display in some way, use case would be one. "If using a screen filter or blue blocking glasses would you recommend increasing the luminance value from 80?" Not necessary, if it works at 80 for what you do, keep it. If you notice that the display is too dimmed or your print out are brighter than the display then yes but otherwise I would leave it. "Would adding a screen bar help in eye strain or does the hood prevent adding the light or would it fit through the calibration door ?" Screen bar sadly does not play nice with the hood. Does it help with eyestrain, it all depends, if you work in a totally dark area then the screen bar can offer ambient light which does help. But if you are in a fairly lit room already it may not do much.

    1. probably not 2. REC 709, you can choose P3 but there are 2 standard 1 for display aka Display P3 and the other for digital cinema DCI-P3. Most people talk about P3 as if they are the same and choose DCI-P3 because it is catchy, but yet the final footage is viewed on screen with Display P3. And then the comments about color not matching well would rolled in. 3. If you don't have a device, don't calibrate, your eyes and the visual guide they walk you through to do the calibration is your worse enemy. Decklink is not necessary unless you are doing board cast. 4. They don't list that but it is coved, They are the same really, just one for video the other for stills, slightly different gamma. Color mode is a selection on the monitor that allows you to choose the pre-calibrated factory color gamut.
