Really nice video and comparative. Ia am going to sell my Mac Mini M1 16GB RAM and buy a Macbook as my main and unique machine. I am getting crazy about what model buy. I will be trading during large sessions, having many charts open, broker platforms, 20 or 30 browser tabs and the classic Telegram, Mail, Google Sheet, Excel. Not gonna use for editing videos, images, Lighroom or this heavy stuff. I thought that maybe was better a Macbook Pro over a Macbook Air related to mantain a better thermals and maybe the M3 Pro Chip with 36GB RAM, but as much videos I see, it seems 36GB RAM not worth the money over 18GB and even I don't have so clear the base M3 but with 16GB is worth over M3 Pro with 18GB RAM, all of this in the 14" size. Macbook Air 15 M3 16GB or 24GB RAM, it seems reasonable to me, but I have the doubt about the high temperatures because of no t having fans. What would be your choice taking in account the use I will do? Thanks in advance, sir.
I assume to take advantage of the hardware calibration, you need to use the BenQ software with a calibration device (i1, .etc)? I assume if you use the i1Profiler or Calibrite software, it just creates an icc profile and doesn't change the LUT at the hardware level. Also, do you set the color space to Adobe RGB or Native in the BenQ software (I understand the Native is a bigger color space). Thanks
Is there an advantage of using the manual fine tune calibration over the automatic calibrite calibration?
Unfortunately we did not get a review from you of this monitor, people say that this monitor is not bright enough, what would you say ?
in a 32gb Unified Memory 14MBP M3 pro do you think we will have heat problems ?
The tip of increasing memory from 18GB to 36GB on an M3Pro is obvious, but I was mistakenly ignoring it! Thank you very much for this video!
Hi mate, thanks for the video. Could I please know if you have any videos for projectors?
Is it normal for the CPU to run hot 190-200 degrees F when running there Video Enhancer ? My M1 Max Macbook Pro 16" 64 GB is about 190+ when upscaling on Topaz but only 180 when running Hit Paw....
It's OLED right ? What about burn in tho ? Especially if you work always on this tablet for a long time ?
Fantastic video. Thanks! If you’re not importing/exporting hundreds of files and the megapixel count is low (my scenario), it seems that the M3 Air would be plenty for raw editing. I like the light weight and fanless aspect of the Air. My questions would be: 1) for a casual user can you setup a decent preset for a photography workflow (locked brightness, correct white point etc) as you can with the Pro displays? I just watched your video on that. 2) the M3 14 has a better battery life and a single fan. Do you think that would be relatively quiet for general use and light raw editing? I have a Fuji X100 and do some film photography. A nice screen is more important than pure power for me. It would be my general daily laptop too. Thanks 🙂
Maybe we should think the M3P as M3Photos and M3M as M3Movies. I am still waiting for the studio M4 Studio, but these machines are probably very good already if I don't have a machine already.
My 16" MBP running Sonoma 14.5 gives an error warning about halfway through the process and exits measurement. I have updated to the new version of Calibrite, Profiler 1.3.2. and the version check says I'm Up to date. I tried twice. Thanks for your help.
Excellent video! Can you comment on the equivalent light from Lume Cube? Thx.
Thanks for the insight! Loved seeing your final images. Fun night with fellow creatives.
There’s a critical update about software on June 2024. Is there any difference ? Thanks in advance.
Any idea why in Viber it cuts the screen ratio, even though the cam's field view is set to 90 dgrees in settings?
I'm not a computer guy. I just want to make an informed pick not to waste money. This was just excellent. Thanks
awesome!
Great video's! Question I'm using a Mac Mini Pro M2 and OS I just upgraded to Sonoma 14.5 some issues failed callabrtion?
dm me on fb or insta, there's more information that I need to help. It will be faster that way
Looks for videos M3 Pro is pretty good. Ultras are really good for videos.
Yup
I really love this photographer centric analysis. I think the 48GB M3M beats M1U and M2U in the medium 15.7GB test because it may have a faster SSD.
slightly, faster frequency of the cores contribute a large part to this too
This is a very good review, packed with useful information.
Thank You!
One thing I would suggest is to keep the order of all the computers the same on each chart, regardless of whether a given one is faster or slower on a specific task, because it does make it challenging to have to figure out which computer fits where when moving on to the next test.
I'll keep that in mind, heard the other way around as well.
Very helpful as a consumer looking to switch to Mac to use Lightroom. Such high production value, well-communicated data and a thorough review! Your content is very professional, a nice breath of fresh air from anything clickbaity
You're very welcome!
@@ArtIsRight Would you recommend the M2 Max for hobby photographers? I don't have Lightroom at the moment and don't shoot a lot, but I'm shopping for a laptop that'll last several years + Lightroom and audio recording
Can we bond a 10 gig sfp+ wiyh normal rther net rrë
You can but your router also has to support bonding
@@ArtIsRight i use udm pro se and unifi switches …
I own a MacBook M2 Air as a secondary/travel/tethering computer. I can’t recommend them for heavy use. It will hit a memory wall during editing. MacBook Pro only
Totally!
Ok your luminance meaning brightness is 88, but how is the brightness setting on the iPad Pro that has to affect it if turned way down or FULL brightness? Ok I see that Reference Mode locks the brightness....weird. How about calibrating the display to cool it down or warm it up is that possible? Also when I am measuring it is saying my Luminance is 229? Should I be in Reference Mode first before doing this? I think that answer is yes based on what you did. Please let me know if possible to calibrate the color tone so not too yellow or cool....thanks!
You can't that is the issue, you are sandboxed and there's not much that you can do.
@@ArtIsRight boooooo! 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
polling rate 125Hz - huge latency (main functional parameter of the mouse) , and somebody calls it one of the best? - its absolutely opposite.... Polish features on poor engine... absolutely ridiculouse mouse... worst investment in my life in periferials
It's not a gaming mouse; that is why they make gaming one. We all have opinions and are entitled to them, and you certainly have yours.
@@ArtIsRight nope, there is no difference between gaming and working. I am CAD designer, I am instantly clicking and creating geometry, I need accurate movement with proper response...... With this mouse, I am overall slower, not so precise, making lot of mistakes lot of errors !!!!! Only due to latency. you are making milions of micro movements per day, each micro movement is slowed by at least 10 miliseconds, and quess what, it makes you overall slower.... from 8 hours of working day, I will do less job, with more errors..... What a proffesional mouse! DPI is marketing ..... its like a video camera... its fine to have 20Mpix sensor instead of 5Mpixels... but when 5Mpix should work on 120fps instead of 20Mpix on 25fps, you simply see the difference of the power.... Mouse in price range 100Dolars euro + on 125Hz polling tŕate, thats robbery in those times.... I am just simply angry, becuse I bought it through company resources, and its almost impossible to let it get refunded!!!!
Does lunchbox iii fit Ninja Ultra?
same dimensions so it should, I would reach out to Andycine to be certain
Amazing content!
Appreciate it!
18/1 or 36/512 which one is better. I will use for coding. I am studying in computer science
I would go for more RAM
That's a gem info. out there. so much clarity after watching this video... thank you.
You're very welcome!
I’ve watched this several times, thank you!!! I hear you, it feels like you are saying the base models in terms of processors seems to be enough - i mostly do photo now but am about to digitize over 100 tapes editing in video software. So I’m thinking I need the Max vs Pro. But is 36GB RAM really enough - for tomorrow. Apple is confounding since the only jump is from 36 to 96! Or you upgrade processors to get to 48 or 64 - is that enough? I think you are saying that with today’s software there is diminishing return over 36 but with all the new AI introduced in Adobe software and now Apple Intelligence will that be RAM intensive or processor? Will Adobe continue to hog RAM in future releases? I kept my last Mac for 5+ years and it worked fine, slow lately and finally it died this week.
36GB is more than what most have and would consider buying. If this is going to be your primary machine, you night want to consider upgrading to more. And yes, would you have to SoC jump to get the next increment in RAM to if you are going to do that, I would up it to 64 GB. As for the question of is it enough for video work and digitizing tapes like you are about to do, totally. For photo, 36 GB works find but I have found ways to max it out, though most won't do what I do. I would not worry about AI much since most of it runs on the NPU and GPU, variation null really, ram won't matter much for Apple AI. For Adobe yes app does love memory and giving it more is better. It seems like you do keep the machine long term, I would recommend upgrading RAM
Just had a question. I have a 16 inch MBP with M1. With the display size, does having a high resolution display make it hard to see on this? I tried out a 4k 27 inch monitor awhile back and this was the case and had to return it. Just wondering if it will be easy to see on this. I believe this is related to pixel density though not too sure. I remember having to decrease the resolution of the monitor to make my eyes not strain which seemed to defeat the purpose of such a high res monitor. Any feedback is appreciated. Great content!
At native resolution it is going to be easier to see compared to 27" 4K running at native resolution which I don't recommend doing. And yes it is related to the idea of Pixels per inch and how many are there.
Here's an idea, customize the pad and create wireless twin zones (via usb entry point) - BenQ you are welcome, I'll take two screen, thank you very much.
something along that line has been suggested in one of my review, and I know, I wish they do this!
@@ArtIsRight I'll still take my screens Art! (I just bought one BenQP3205U, and my budget is gone, good screen)
Great video! Super informative. Thanks Art!
Thank you!
Great Review >> I learnt a lot
Much appreciated!
Interesting. I’ve been using Rotolight and among their lights the NEO3 Pro as well as many of their larger lights. This does seem like a tiny alternative. It would be good to see a direct comparison.
Thank you for sharing. I'll keep this in mind!
I have a K3 Max White Backlight and I can’t change the speed of light effects? Is this standard for a white backlight version?
I'm not sure, I would recommend reaching out to Keychron with this question.
sw vs pd 10:30 is best for me. 10:57 pricing at time of filming.
Thanks!
Great Review and an great Monitor! I bought it, and i love to work with the new Benq PD 32 😍
Good choice!
A question: What about the 4K vs 5K viewing experience. I’m not sure if you covered that. So much to take in. I’m wary of going 4K. I do a lot of detailed editing.
I have been using 4K for close to a decade now, and it has served me and continues to serve me well. Both 4K and 5K scale the resolution; the variation is that in the 27" display, 5K pixel per inch is above the 200 mark, which is more in line with Apple's "Retina" resolution. 4K comes close, but not entirely. This is a personal experience; some are ok with 4k, while others are against it, saying that images and text are soft. Like I said, it is more of a personal preference, really.
I’ve been obsessively watching reviews of the Apple Studio Display and was 100% convinced I would go with that, but you’ve given me pause. A very professional review and refreshingly finally geared to print photographers than video. Most reviews seem to be by those doing video. I’ve always wanted to work in an AdobeRGB workflow as I worked many years in print and I’m aware that the AdobeRGB profile is greater than sRGB. Your points are very astute. Yes, the Apple Studio Display is gorgeous and integrates into the Mac Studio series beautifully, but will it give the ideal results for your specific niche. Also appreciate your input on the matte finish or Nano technology. I spent time in an Apple Store recently shifting back and forth between the glossy finish and the Nano finish. I was really impressed by how glare-free the Nano finish is. Yes, the glossy looks fantastic and brilliant, but the matte finish is closer to what you can expect in print. Plus, I do a lot of close up editing. I think the eye strain difference from glare could be significant. Other reviewers say that the screen can get more dirty though. Well, I guess I’m going to have to go look at more of your videos to see the BENQ monitors.
Thank you!
Now you know the difference between an expert vs a KZreadr when comparing! Very helpful, thanks!
My pleasure!
So I need a SHR-1 to do one at a time. I'll have to consider my options. Thank you for answering quickly.
You can replace the drive one at a time regardless, SHR-1 just gives you more space with less high-capacity drive replaced compared to SHR-2.
@@ArtIsRight You mean I would still have to replace 4 drives or can I gain space as I replace drive at a time
You will gain space when you replaced one drive a time with SHR1
Mellanox mcx 312b works fine

Hey, great video. Is there a full review of this display?
This would be it for this model
@@ArtIsRight Aaahh, too bad. I really wanted to know more about this panel.
Hey Art my XL2731B is set on Sensye off and on mode and just shows black screen and the menu options won’t show on screen
I'm not familiar with that model, I would advise that you reach out to your local BenQ support for help on this
I haven't had my m3 MacBook Pro for 30 days and the track pad is already cracked. I had purchased apple care when I got it and am so glad I did. The only downside is having to drive almost an hour to the store and leave my MacBook there for a couple days and have to go back and pick it up. And can't forget the extra $100 I'll have to spend.
Next time, you might want to ask for mail-in repair. It may not be available in all cases, but it is worth considering.
@@ArtIsRight if it was anything other than my MacBook or phone I’d probably consider mail in. But those two things would be greatly missed for 5-7 days. I have Apple care on my watches, AirPods and 3 iPads as well so if mail in is an option for those I probably would. I also had the misfortune recently of going to Best Buy for my Apple Pencil when it broke (my iPad Apple care covered it) and they were so difficult to deal with. I only went there because they were 20 minutes closer than Apple but I’ll never do that again.
Yeah I would not deal with Bestbuy, they are terrible. About Apple Care mail-in repair, it takes 24 hours to get a box out to you from the time you request it. Once you ship it, they use an overnight label, so it will get to the facility in less than 24 hours. The repair once it arrives is usually on the same day or overnight, and then they ship it back to you overnight, but I hear you.
using SHR-2. Does this let me build pool size up 1 drive at a time? I had 6 x 8 tera. I changed one to 16 tera. If I add another 16 tera will it give me more capacity or is the fact that I am using shr-2 will not do that? By the way I am using a 1621+
You can do a rough calculation here www.synology.com/en-us/support/RAID_calculator But if I understand you correctly, you are replacing one of the drives with a 16TB drive; if so, then your space would stay the same. You would need to replaced at least 4 drives with 16TB drives for you to see the more storage in SHR 2
