I think Joe hit it on sensitivity. It will all depend on your speakers. There are SPL calculators out there that will calculate how many watts you need based on your speaker's specs and your listening distance. Also, quality of watts is important. One amp might have a lower SNR and higher THD, and in that case may not be the best selection if comparing between several.
Hi guys..I got a Bose 12 acoustimass speaker system (5x2 double cubes and 2 subs). Which Avr should I buy to match the system??
I sit around 9feet from my speakers and TV so 105 watts is fine for now but of course I want a amp for my RF-7 iii's and RC-64 iii.

Depends on the brand, too. Good brands are conservative with their specs. Outlaw is a good value because they outperform their specs at a good price.
Never heard anyone say "I wish I had less power" I do have a tube amp that puts out 6 watts per channel and with my RF-7 IIs it will annoy my neighbors thats a different story.
As long as it is class A it doesn´t matter that much.
