I grew up in the INMAN SQ. area 89 years ago. I frequented CENTRAL, HARVARD, LECHMERE, PORTER AND UNION SQUARE IN SOMERVILLE on almost daily basis to shop, eat and go to the theaters. I sold newspapers in INMAN and walked to LECHMERE everynight hitting all drinking spots also. Every square was in walking distance to a young boy and you could take the bus or ride the subway for a nickle each way. Nobody had cell-phones and that made great conversation between friends and strangers. Would I enjoy going back to those years ? Yes, in a heartbeat.....May GOD bless you all.
Love East Cambridge. Would not have picked a better place to have moved to in America. Been my home for over 10 years now

Do you need a car to move around? Is it walkable?

@@moreadventure3627 oh most definitely walkable everything is walking distance or there’s the 69 bus that will take you all up Cambridge street to Harvard square. Where I live the super market, stores, mall and everything is within a walking distance. Harvard or central square is borderline walking distance it’s about a mile and a half away so I would suggest the bus to go there if driving is not an option but anything else is definitely walking distance. Boston itself is right over the bridge from East Cambridge which also is great and Harvard college and M.I.T aren’t far either if you’re here for school.
This video was clearly made for students. It only talked about food, esthetics, and outdoors. What about schools for our kids, diversity, types of.housing, and more info about cost of living??
Love the Mount Auburn area near the Watertown line. It's my favorite section of Cambridge. The Fresh Pond area is very nice as well.

I’ve yet to explore Fresh Pond at length - thank you for the input!
Inman and Central are the best places in Cambridge without a doubt..
Such a great video! I’m a huge Cambridge fan (even though residing in Boston).

Is there a reason Alewife didn't make the list?

Great addition! I went with what I knew at the time, but I’ve explored the Alewife area more since publishing. Will add for a future 2.0!
Yeah I have a few questions but I seen that you're nobody for me cuz I'm looking at going back on the East Coast myself cuz this Midwest is just not for me at all
