    This reminds me so much of when I was a kid... my dad would drive us out in the country, and we'd go really slowly, looking for asparagus along the roadsides. When he finally decided it was time to go home, he'd speed up, but we kids didn't want to give up, so we'd about go cross-eyed trying to watch for it a 55 mph. :-) Now, it's a saying between us when we can't give up looking for something. We say, "it's like looking for asparagus!"

    My father introduced asparagus to us when no one knew about this plant in Punjab, India. He would generally collect it same way you did. We used to saute it with peas and eat with chapati. It was favorite food. I guess I need to go back to village again to treasure hunt. Thanks for this video.

    Hello fellow forager. We are about as far apart as people can get in this country but we obviously share the same interests.Here in Texas we wade in feral asparagus and feral garlic every spring. Feral pomegranate bushes and banana plants, also. There is also a very thriving population of feral shiso and epazote. Yum. Free food everywhere! Don't even get me started on the wild dewberries...I am watching out for the flowers so I know where the best patches are and can return to them for harvest time. Happy harvesting!

    I showed this video to my husband, and now I;m excited to go into the woods on our property, and try to find some asparagus! Who cares if it's technically wild or not. If I, or someone else didn't plant or cultivate it, that's wild to me. How awesome that you have a beach in your own back yard too. I would be down there every morning, with coffee in hand, taking a daily walk. Keep up the great videos Luke and Sindy!

    I found a huge amount of asparagus lately all found in ditches close to a country road. I am wondering if this is safe to eat since its only about 20 feet off the road along a farmers fence at the top edge of a ditch that is on the side of a country road that has a car drive by about every 30-60 seconds. Does this sounds safe to eat or can it have contaminates from cars passing by.

  • @denniskatinas

    @denniskatinas

    These days it's very easy to have soil tested. Personally, I would not worry about it, most of those contaminates go elsewhere, those who don't rain off and the soil transforms most of them. I don't think the Asperges takes those out of the soil also.
