Thank you for taking the time to get rid of that old soil for new soil. Alot of pain, sweat, toiling and swearing, but you got the job done. Good luck with your beautiful peaceful garden.

It takes work, time and money to filter and sift through soil. That all has value. And most people dont have a big screen to do this. All these extra mixes are not free and the manufacturers deserve extra money for extra work.

How do you keep critters away from your open planters? I have chain-link with rubber strips to keep our deer and wild horsies, but the squirrels destroy everything.

The key to a good soil mix is making your own with the proper nutrients, water retention, or minimum water retention, the amount of clean wood chip and sand. A homemade worm bin will provide you with the best natural fertilizer as an addictive when your plants are mature. I will only caution people about the types of wood bark to use. Soil blends are not a complex science. Any major brand will work just fine. Proper watering and proper drainage is the real key to success.

Honestly i was thinking about this cause the green bag of that brand that says “not for pods” just more woodchips, i was like plants cant read, for them its dirt right?

I take two buses to get to work so I do a lot of walking. I’m very tired when I get home. I take two buses back home so I take a nap during the evening and I’m Muslim so I pray 5 times a day so in this summer I have to wake up at 4:00am to pray. I take the bus to work at 7:00am. I’ll start watering at 5:30am half an hour after morning prayer. That way I have at least 1 hour to water the plants and eat breakfast and catch the bus 💜💜💜💜💜 Thx!

A crazy thing happened this year to my in ground garden. I tilled in mulch and added in some gypsum like I do yearly, planted and the ground was soft as a pillow. Last week we got pounded in Omaha by 8 + inches of rain in less than 6 hours. It beat the dirt down so hard it's like I've never touched the dirt ever. I know the amendments work because the last several years we've been drought strken and ground stayed soft. Can't till again with the plants in the way. Hopefully it bounces back but spot digging shows that it's really compact deep. How do I fix that? Lol

There might be a factor of convenience to not have to sieve or add and or similar. What I would like more is being able to find the raw parts of the soil to mix my own. It's hard to find just compost or peat here in Europe. As gardener it's probably easier, but I've been struggling with that. What's your thought on mixing Coco and soil tho?

Ph balance the water ur giving ur blueberries. Most tap water is 8.5. Balance it down with ph down. I found that for every 2 litter of water you need 0.2ml to bring it down to rain water level of 6.5. You dont want to put extreme alkaline tap water on your acidic soil you worked so hard to make it blueberries friendly
