    Awww, Anderson made me tear up when he spoke of his child touching his Mom and Dad's portrait. My Mom was also an artist and this 'ritual' with his little boy is just lovely.

    @@bohwe43 My mom died in 2004, it took until 2014 for my sister and I could discuss her death without crying. If you ask it is like she died last year, still sad about...but not crying,

    @@okeomslax26 I'm not sure, but as a former PreSchool teacher, I had this quote on my classroom wall. Funny thing tho, the PreSchool parents were too busy to really "see it", it was the grandparents who would comment and discuss at length, the truth in the quote.

    I was so touched when he spoke of the things that he remembered about his dad, that he had repressed, because of experiencing fatherhood with Wyatt. Also, that was so sweet when he shared how Wyatt loves to touch that painting of his mom, and dad, that his mom painted. Babies are such pure, little beings of light, and so connected to the spiritual realm. They know.

    I bet he needed to unlearn some stuff and get help understanding certain patterns in order to turn out alright in the end and to now be a wholesome father and human being. Lots of otherwise privileged rich kids carry dark secrets that require untangling/undoing. Anderson turned out totally fine, compared to certain messed-up celebrity kids.

    @Alternative Headlines It would benefit you and all of the people in your life if you expanded your capacity for empathy and tolerance. It would certainly benefit society at large if bigotry was socially unacceptable. We're getting there at a snail's pace, but conservatives tend to react to these changes with stubborn and unreasonable fear. That's how fascist movements gain a foothold, as a reaction to cultural progress. For your information, the Patriarchy is also abusive to _men_ and is hardly worth this knee-jerk defensiveness. Feminist activists are working to make _your_ lives better too, so that men are not treated as expendable or valued only for their ability to provide income. Feminists changed the family court system so that fathers' rights are recognized and fathers are now often getting joint custody of their children. Your remark that more gay men means more lesbians makes no sense to me, but regardless you have nothing to fear from gay people living openly instead of remaining closeted. Women are not a commodity, so don't trouble yourself about scarcity.

    I relate to Anderson about father's day , I lost my father in 2014 and my father passed away the day after father's day so that day hurts a lot and its very hard for me so sometimes I block it out

    I lost my dad when I was 4. He was abusive and left and I 100% feel that holiday sentiment like they are just dates to me especially fathers day. It doesn't even register with me.

    Imagine that thinking your dad is dead, then you spend the last day's of thier life rekindling. Then your own kid's thinking, that's how you would treat me? No, because you have no idea what transpired before you're awaking. So you can just love them unconditionally instead;& embrace the moments you have left.

    Such a perfect yet unbearable description of your life without a father on Father’s Day and other holidays, and how no one even really thought about it nor could they possibly understand it unless they, too, experienced such a powerful loss. Anderson Cooper I am probably not the only person listening in that really appreciates you speaking publicly about what it was like, putting it all into words, describing what it was like going through the same things as I also did, when my amazingly loving Dad died when I was ten.

    I used to take my 2 year old to Sunday jam sessions at the local club. It was amazing how many people loved seeing him there. They became like a baby sitters to him. Some loved to watch him play pinball because he got into it more than the adults. It was a small town and a long time ago

    I just love and admire Anderson in so many ways. I would love to have him as a son and what a lucky boy his son is. I am really sad for the sad losses Anderson has had in his life . My last lost was my darling husband of 58 years of marriage . It has been 14 months now and I still suffer badly. Anderson must feel the same with the last loss of his darling mother. I’m sure his darling baby boy helps a lot. Bless you both. xx

    I love Anderson. For all the things people are saying in the comment section, but also as a journalist/show host. He's given so much honesty and integrity to all the stories he's covered over the years. He may be a trust fund baby, but so is Tuckkker Carlson.

    What an unbelievable contrast. Carlson is an opinionated, self entitled, bigoted asshole (I could add more but you get the drift) by anyone's measure and Anderson is the polar opposite. Both men starting out as children with everything we could imagine and yet two entirely different outcomes as adults. Nature v nurture? Who knows.
