My deepest condolences to my neighbors in Malawi

Formed a coalition gvt with the youthful Chilima and later arrested him on corruption charges. For four years the VP did not perform his duties due to the allegations. Only for Chakwera to drop the charges a few weeks ago. Chilima was now a free man but not free. The VP was giving Chakwera sleepless nights asking him to honour the agreement they made when they formed a coalition gvt. Chilima was complaining so much about Chakwera's behaviour of shifting goal posts especially in this season when elections are coming closer. The greatest suspicion is that Chilima might have been killed to silence him from demanding Chakwera to honour their agreement.

When did military aircraft start carrying transponders,they operate under primary radar,that relies on signal bounce back

They've not taken the maintenance of that aircraft seriously. Need to check whoever touched it. Before and after each flight. Maybe a traitor or mole.

​@@Trini2dbone868 It wasn't a helicopter, it was a Dornier 228 aeroplane. You can clearly identify the plane by the tailfin and markings in the wreckage images. There are photos of the plane itself on Google.

Bad weather can suddenly develop while a plane is already well into a flight. Africa is not like developed countries where there are plenty of airports/airstrips a plane could land on in an emergency, at short notice.

Condolences. I'm a pilot and I can say there was no transponder, because it was a military aircraft... Also, the search efforts were slow due to weather, and due to everything in Malawi being slow, anyone in Malawi knows this, I've just come back a few days ago from Malawi, so speaking from experience.

The President's speech does not cite weather as a problem, but rather he says that though the plane had been flown successfully in bad weather, " something terrible" happened to it. What is that "terrible thing?"

As a Malawian am mourning and lost hope at the same time. He was the most potential person that people loved the most and were ready to vote for him as President in 2025 elections. He was more visionary than the current leaders and their ruling party

It’s unfortunate that pilots do not take command of making the decision of canceling a flight due to fog and storms regardless who they are flying average passengers or politicians. We saw it happened to Iranian President also to Malawian Vice President then few years back to late Kobe Bryant Helicopter. The fog and storms are killers in aviation.

The crash appear simillar the lran crash of both helicopters carrying respective VIPs

Not at all...planes nowadays fly with enough fuel incase of such incidents. Bad weather is the main cause while other assumptions are coming in because everyone is entitled to his own theories
