Where is the Rapture Taught in Scripture?

Hank Hanegraaff, the host of the 𝘉𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘈𝘯𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘔𝘢𝘯 broadcast and the 𝘏𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘜𝘯𝘱𝘭𝘶𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘥 podcast, addresses a caller who wants to know if 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 is describing the Rapture. Hank explains that this passage is dealing with the resurrection and goes on to describe how the Pre-Tribulation Rapture was conceived by John Nelson Darby.

Jesus warned to not be deceived, with many saying, "the time is near." In the same discourse, he made it clear his coming is "after the tribulation of those days..." Paul discussed this same "coming" in his Thessalonian letters. If you believe his coming is any other time, you've been deceived.

@@brandoncampadonico45 Good question! The apostles ONLY taught what they learned from Christ. The Jews and some gentiles who converted to Christianity had some knowledge of a resurrection. Keep this in mind as you study the scriptures. I do not believe 1Thess. 4:13-18 is not a separate event from the resurrection to happen at Christ's return. Please read Matthew 25: Return and Judgements. In this passage of scripture, Paul is explaining what will happen at the Second Coming of Jesus. Here though he is ONLY explaining what will happen with the Christians. When Christ returns, time is up and the game is over. The power of the Holy Spirit will cause ALL who have died to be resurrected, Christians as Paul explained, to eternal life with Christ, the unbelievers to eternal damnation. The bodies of believers will be physical and glorified, the bodies of unbelievers will not, but they will also be physical and eternal.

If you love Jesus Christ it won't matter if you believe in a rapture or not. IF a rapture happens those that didn't believe in a rapture will be pleasantly surprised and those that did believe will see their belief come true. IF a rapture does not happen some people may be disappointed and wondering why. Ultimately though all of the christians will go to heaven. Rapture or no rapture is not important, being saved is.

The Bible talks only of the 2nd coming of Christ, not the 3rd. I was taught the Rapture my whole life, and never gave it a second thought. I was indoctrinated. Not until I started listening to Hank, did I ever consider a different view, which is dangerous. You have to be open to hearing different views, and interpretations, or you may live you whole life being wrong. Not that knowing this has anything to do with being saved, it doesnt. This just makes more sense to me. In my 50 years of studying the Bible, I've learned one thing. I dont know all the answers, and the older I get, the more stupid I realize I am. Thank the Lord, I'm not saved because of my knowledge, but my relationship with Christ. People die from lack of knowledge. That lack of knowledge is, knowing Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and saviour. That's what counts, but it is nice to feel like you have a better understanding of Gods plan. Only that you use the wisdom he reveals to you, to tell others of his love, and strive to minister to them, in Hope's they accept Christ. You dont have to be a scholar to be a disciple, just willing to be a vessel. Jesus does the saving, and God is the one who reveals himself to the unsaved. It's a free gift, not that we should boast.

In about 1986 we started attending a "full gospel" Church, after 6 months or so one of the elders told me he wants to come and check my doctrine. I thought, "this will be interesting!" as I knew I had some different understandings that they would not agree with but kept quiet about so we could fellowship together. he and another person came, we went through most with no problems, when he got into the "rapture" and he asked if I believe that I told him " i have a view that is a bit different, but lets not go there". He would not leave it alone, I told him "it's not in the bible, I only believe what's there" and he tried to show me. We went into it in an extremely through way and carried on until early hours of the morning, then the next evening, and the next. so many people were coming that they filled our lounge by the end. After a week he told me " well, now i have to tell the pastor what we preaching is wrong and we must change". All went quiet for a week, then one day he came alone and told me "I have discussed it with the pastor and we would have to write to head office in America and they would have to write to every full gospel church in the world so they all change at the same time, that too big, it's not going to happen. We will carry on preaching as we were and if you tell anyone I told you this I will deny it". After that the people in the church avoided me. So i stopped going. What can you do with THAT!?

It is of paramount importance to understand that us born again ones will in fact be right here during tribulation. You made the point that God is well able to protect us (if in the Philadelphia church) from certain aspects of tribulation like He did for the Israelites in Egypt which I think is helpful for people who are so afraid of tribulation that they follow teachers who tickle their ears with pretrib. Thank you.

One must allow for the fact that the tribulation will be of such force and intensity that most parish unless the very hand of God stops it.The purpose of the Tribluation AKA "Jacob's Trouble" is those known as the earth dwellers who reject Jesus Christ will be dwelt with. Rev. 3:10 "..I will KEEP you from the hour of trial that comes upon the whole world, to test those who dwell upon the earth." Romans 5:6 "....We shall be saved from the wrath through Him" 1 Thess. 1:10 "...even Jesus who delievers us from the wrath to come." 1 Thess.5:9 " ...for God did not appoint us to wrath..." now...finally ask yourself...who exactly are the mortals walking into the millennial kingdom AFTER the rapture...the Church MUST be gone at this point because of the wedding feast in heaven...sooo when exactly did they leave? 5 minutes b4? Or like Paul said in a twinkling of an eye? The Body of Christ is NOT mentioned after Rev.4 thru Rev. 19...the ENTIRE time of the trib.....WHY?

@born conservative If you want to follow the doctrines of John Nelson Darby who invented the rapture in 1830, then promoted by the Plymouth Brethren who emigrated to the US, then that's up to you, but it's never going to happen. The rapture is followed by Zionists who are deluded into believing the modern state of Israel is somehow connected to Old Covenant Israel. Old Covenant Israel was a theocratic entity who were living under Torah. Modern day "Israel" is a political entity that was stolen by the Khazars from Eastern Europe. One has got nothing to do with the other. A Zionist is not a true Christian as Jesus said, "my kingdom is not of this world", meaning the kingdom is spiritual in nature and not a worldly geopolitical kingdom, which is what Zionists are waiting for. Zionists were waiting for the "end of the world" in 1988 (40 years after 1948), but nothing happened. The truth is Jesus' Parousia was in 70 AD (40 years after crucifixion in 30 AD). That was the year that apostate Old Covenant Jerusalem and the temple were demolished. It looks like you've missed the second coming.😂 By the way, 2 Thessalonians was written to the 1st century Saints who were going through tribulation and persecution. It was written to you or anyone else in the 21st century. What persecution are you going through? You won't discuss the rapture with anyone because you know it's bollocks.

All true believers are BEING transformed and redeemed each day that we remain IN Christ alone. Until THAT DAY, Church, may we be found faithfully loving and enduring with one another-the Bride of Christ.

Teachers who dismiss the rapture rescue before the great tribulation often use the lack of clear teaching about this doctrine from Jesus or in the Old Testament as proof that it must not be true, but when Paul prefaced his rapture teaching starting in 1 Corinthians 15:51 by saying ‘Behold, I show you a mystery…’ which means the rapture had been hidden before the Holy Spirit began to reveal it thru Paul. And sadly we only have a few clear sentences from Paul’s ministry about the rapture, so most of this teaching must be hidden where the Lord always hides his mysteries, in plain sight but within metaphors, parables, obscure idioms and the like. In other words, if you’re on the bandwagon that claims the rapture must not be true because Jesus didn’t explain this doctrine in clear language, you’ve been looking in the wrong place. He that has ears, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches, including that the Lord will keep some saints away from the time of testing that’s coming on the whole inhabited world to try everyone dwelling on earth (Rev 3:10).

The writing in 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 states that the Lord descends from heaven. The dead in Christ rise first and the living in Christ are caught up in the air. The scripture says they meet the Lord in the air. In John chapter 14 Jesus said that he was going away to prepare a place for the Believers. And he said that where I am you may be also. When Jesus went away as seen in Acts chapter 1, he ascended up into heaven. You tie all the scriptures together and he is preparing a place in heaven. When Jesus said I go to prepare a place for you he did not go to the Earth and is preparing a place for us on Earth. He ascended up into heaven. And so the teaching of 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 is that the Believers are caught up to meet the Lord in the air. What are they doing in the air meeting Christ in the heavenlies? To go to that place that he promised in John chapter 14, that he would be gone to prepare a place for the believer, that we're Jesus is the believer would be with him also. So there is a catching a way out of this earth into the heavens. If you read the book of Revelation it talks about people in a Heavenly scene and states that they were washed in the blood and came from all kindreds, tongues, and Nations, this is all of those people that will partake in the 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 event of the catching away of God's people. Jesus never prepared a place on Earth after his Ascension into heaven, but remember his words, I go to prepare a place for you. It is a heavenly encounter.

Been a pre-tribber for 15 of those years due to the immense influence on my eschatology by TBN stalwarts John Hager, Hal Lindsey, Jack Van Impe, Peter and Paul Lalonde and Hilton Sutton. I began to notice flaws in the pre-tribulational rapture around 2009 or thereabouts. Not one verse in Scripture teaches this view I discovered to my amazement. Back then I didn't realize how flimsy a foundation the doctrine is built on. I now believe that the rapture and genera resurrection are all tied together. The Lord descends from heaven with a shout, according to 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17. The dead, both righteous and unrighteous, are raised up. The resurrected righteous meet the Lord in the air. The living righteous are instantaneously transformed into immortal beings and are caught up in the clouds with the Lord and resurrected saints. The Lord then escorts His saints to the earth to commence judgment, as per Revelation 20. After judgment, the eternal age begins in earnest, not a so-called millennium with a rebuilt temple and reinstituted animal sacrificial system and mortal humans who are still copulating. The Chiliast view raises more questions than answers. The same can be said about the pre-trib rapture, which escaped the notice of Christianity for 1830 years of its 2000 years of existence...

In the video, at 1:03 Hank reads the scripture wrong, people have to know the difference between a "trump" and a "trumpet", because the trumps are short sounds and a trumpet is a long sound. "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." Before any of the "trumpets" are sounded we are raptured, the last "trump" occurs before the first "trumpet".

And if Satan is on the left side of the road I'm sticking to the right side of the road. Too many so called christian leaders today (some of which may not even be Saved) Are flirting with the Mark of the Beast. Theologically this sounds fine on the surface, but through a thorough study of the subject, long before John Nelson Darby , wrote on the subject, the Apostle Paul in First Thess, 4 and 5 and Jesus own words found in John 14. The consistent theme that "God has not appointed the follower of Christ to wrath, that is the bride of Christ; which you most certainly will find as a recurring statement throughout the Pauline Epistles. The 2nd Advent is when Christ come back and place His feet on the Mt. of Olives and the text says with the saints. The Harpazo in First Thess. 4 is atmospheric event. Questiion How did the saints get there in the first place, when the text in Rev. 19 says that they shall return with Christ. Hank Hanegraaff, what has happened to you? CRI is just not been the same since the days of Dr. Walter Martin, in whom I used to listen to everyday. Calvary Chapels and Chuck Smith are right on. There are many good Bible teachers on this subject that can objectively be listen too. Pastor Stagner, Jack Hibbs, J.D. Farag, Amir Tasarfati Chuck Messler, Bill Salus and many more. As Dr. Martin use to say 'just because the tern trinitas is not found in the Biblical text, doesn't mean that the biblical text does not teach that there is person who is the son who is called God, and that there is a person who is the Spirit who is called God and there is a person who is called the Father that is called God. Things equal to the same thing are equal to each other. As the old Reductio ad absurdum seems to say.

But as I am unfortunately learning is that people do not care to actually research or they do not want to be challenged on their beliefs. I have researched all the view points over 30 years and the Pre-Trib view is the only one that does not have to spiritualize scripture to make sense. If you take a literal interpretation of scripture which is the way we should unless the Bible tells us otherwise, the Pre-Trib view is the one that makes the most coherent sense. But in this day and age many will follow a teacher and never ever ask questions or do the study themselves.

Or how when the disciples are looking up into the sky the angel tells them that Jesus will return the same way He left.....which is a lie if He returns invisibly to rapture His church. I believed in the rapture for a number of years and then I looked at Scripture and the history of the church...and it wasn't there. I feel sad for those who will be caught off guard by the persecution that will come before Christ returns. Those who follow the unbiblical, man made doctrine of an invisible rapture will be distraught and abandon their man made faith.

James, you're missing a large fact here. The event of 1 Thess 4:16-17 explains that the church bride is caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Jesus does not come back to the earth for this event. He only comes down as far as the clouds and snatches His bride away, like a thief in the night, and takes them to His Father's house, as He explained in John 14:2-3. The second coming is the event when Jesus Christ literally returns to the earth, actually steps down on the soil and remains here to establish His 1,000 year kingdom on earth. Paul and Jude both explain quite well that when Jesus returns to the earth the second time , His church bride is with Him. ( Jude 14-15 ) and ( 1 Thess 3:13 ). If the church bride is with Him when He returns, it stands to reason that they had to be removed sometime beforehand or they would not be returning with Him. They would be waiting for Him.

James Gillespie === You've been told a lie. The lie originates with the papist and his religion. So powerful is this corrupt religion it has the influence to hold back, hide and even change history. The premillennial doctrine (pre-trib rapture) did not originate from Jonn N. Darby in the early nineteenth century. This is a lie. There were many EARLY church fathers who made reference to a premillennial catching away of the body of Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul states, ''I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren ...'' Don't be ignorant. 1 Thessalonians 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. Here is just a small example of not only the imminence of a rapture but of a premillenial rapture many of the EARLY church fathers wrote about. 1700 years before and on well before Jonn Darby. I could provide much much more proof if you'd like. Barnabas (40-100): “The final stumbling-block (or source of danger) approaches…for the whole [past] time of your faith will profit you nothing, unless now in this wicked time WE also withstand coming sources of danger….That the Black One [Antichrist] may find no means of entrance…” (Epistle of Barnabas, 4). Clement of Rome (40-100): “…the Scripture also bears witness, saying, ‘Speedily will He come, and will not tarry’; and, ‘The Lord shall suddenly come [Matthew 24:30 coming] TO HIS TEMPLE, even the Holy One, for whom ye look'” (I Clement, 23). Hermas (40-140): “Those, therefore, who continue steadfast, and are put through the fire [of the Great Tribulation that is yet to come], will be purified by means of it….Wherefore cease not speaking these things into the ears OF THE SAINTS…” (The Pastor of Hermas, Vision 4). Polycarp (70-167): “He comes as the Judge of the living and the dead” (Epistle to the Philippians, II). Justin Martyr (100-168): “The man of apostasy [Antichrist], who speaks strange things against the Most High, shall venture to do unlawful deeds on the earth against US THE CHRISTIANS…” (Dialogue With Trypho, 110). Melito (100-170): “For with all his strength did the adversary assail us, even then giving a foretaste of his activity among US [during the Great Tribulation] which is to be without restraint…” (Discourse on the Resurrection, i, 8). Irenaeus (140-202): “And they [the ten kings who shall arise] shall lay Babylon waste, and burn her with fire, and shall give their kingdom to the beast, and put the CHURCH to flight” (Against Heresies, V, 26). Cyprian (200-258): “The day of affliction has begun to hang over our heads, and the end of the world and the time of the Antichrist to draw near, so that WE must all stand prepared for the battle…” (Epistle, 55, 1). Victorinus (240-303): “…the times of Antichrist, when all shall be injured” (Commentary on the Apocalypse of the Blessed John, VI, 5). Lactantius (240-330): “And power will be given him [Antichrist] to desolate the whole earth for forty-two months….When these things shall so happen, then the righteous and the followers of truth shall separate themselves from the wicked, and flee into solitudes” (Divine Institutes, VII, 17). Athanasius (293-373): “…they have not spared Thy servants, but are preparing the way for Antichrist” (History of the Arians, VIII, 79). Ephraim the Syrian (306-373): “Nothing remains then, except that the coming of our enemy, Antichrist, appear…” (Sermo Asceticus, I). Pseudo-Ephraem (4th century?): “…there is not other which remains, except the advent of the wicked one [Antichrist]…” (On the Last Times, the Antichrist etc., 2). Cyril of Jerusalem (315-386): “The Church declares to thee the things concerning Antichrist before they arrive…it is well that, knowing these things, thou shouldest make thyself ready beforehand” (Catechetical Lectures, 15, 9). Jerome (340-420): “I told you that Christ would not come unless Antichrist had come BEFORE” (Epistle 21). Bernard of Clairvaux (1090-1153): “There remains only one thing--that the demon of noonday [Antichrist] should appear, to seduce those who REMAIN STILL IN CHRIST…” (Sermons on the Song of Songs, 33, 16). Roger Bacon (1214-1274): “…because of future perils [for the CHURCH] in the times of Antichrist…” (Opus Majus, II, p. 634). John Wycliffe (1320-1384): “Wherefore let us pray to God that he keep us IN the hour of temptation, which is coming upon all the world, Rev. iii” (Writings of the Reverend and Learned John Wickliff, D.D., p. 155). Martin Luther (1483-1546): “[The book of Revelation] is intended as a revelation of things that are to happen in the future, and especially of tribulations and disasters for the CHURCH…” (Works of Martin Luther, VI, p. 481). Menno Simons (1496-1561): “…He will appear as a triumphant prince and a victorious king to bring judgment. Then will those who PERSECUTE US look upon Him…” (Complete Writings…, p. 622). John Calvin (1509-1564): “…we ought to follow in our inquiries after Antichrist, especially where such pride proceeds to a public desolation of the CHURCH” (Institutes, Vol. 2, p. 411). John Knox (1515-1572): “…the great love of God towards his CHURCH, whom he pleased to forewarn of dangers to come, so many years before they come to pass…to wit, The man of sin, The Antichrist, The Whore of Babylon” (The History of the Reformation…, I, p. 76). .

James Gillespie ... It's alright if you don't believe in the Harpazo of the Bride of Christ. You'll still be taken out when Christ pulls the Church off the earth. But where your error comes in is telling people that Harpazo "theory" came about in the late 1800's by John Darby...and the making the statement "The disciples of the disciples NEVER taught a "Harpazo"! Let me inform you that 1st Thessalonians 4:13-18, the Apostles earliest book, dated 51 A.D. was written by an Apostle of Jesus Christ and not John Darby! This guy Hank H. Is telling you wrong. Paul wrote 1 Thessalonians and sent it to the church and about six months later in 52 A.D. he sent 2 Thessalonians to the church there. I want you to go to Revelation chapter 19, read it real carefully and to see when the Christian Church returns with Christ at the Second Coming. In order for the church to return James it has to be up there. Hanks got it wrong!

I was taught the rapture, and used to believe in it when I was a kid. When I was in my teens, and reading Revelation for myself, I didn't see the rapture in it. At first I just assumed it, but as I got older I gradually realized that it's not there. People who believe in it can't justify it purely with scripture, it's always the passage about "one is taken and one is left" + some inductive reasoning based on sentiment or a personal sense of fairness. Whenever I ask people to show me where the rapture is in Revelation they never can, ever. It's usually what ends the conversation. I'm glad this teaching is being challenged and sorted out on the internet.

Mark Zabel - It sounds like you have been listening to the teaching of John Hagee. Those who are in Christ are the "saints" mentioned in this book. In the previous chapters, the seven churches are named so because they are congregations of specific cities which existed in those days. The word "church" means ecclesia or assembly. These were seven "assemblies" of believers in what is now known as Turkey. There would be no reason to call the saints by their city name as all of the body of Christ is united under one head, Christ.

The rapture and the second coming of Christ are often confused. Sometimes it is difficult to determine whether a scripture verse is referring to the rapture or the second coming. However, in studying end-times Bible prophecy, it is very important to differentiate between the two. The rapture is when Jesus Christ returns to remove the church (all believers in Christ) from the earth. The rapture is described in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:50-54. Believers who have died will have their bodies resurrected and, along with believers who are still living, will meet the Lord in the air. This will all occur in a moment, in a twinkling of an eye. The second coming is when Jesus returns to defeat the Antichrist, destroy evil, and establish His millennial kingdom. The second coming is described in Revelation 19:11-16. The important differences between the rapture and second coming are as follows: 1) At the rapture, believers meet the Lord in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:17). At the second coming, believers return with the Lord to the earth (Revelation 19:14). 2) The second coming occurs after the great and terrible tribulation (Revelation chapters 6-19). The rapture occurs before the tribulation (1 Thessalonians 5:9; Revelation 3:10). 3) The rapture is the removal of believers from the earth as an act of deliverance (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, 5:9). The second coming includes the removal of unbelievers as an act of judgment (Matthew 24:40-41). 4) The rapture will be secret and instant (1 Corinthians 15:50-54). The second coming will be visible to all (Revelation 1:7; Matthew 24:29-30). 5) The second coming of Christ will not occur until after certain other end-times events take place (2 Thessalonians 2:4; Matthew 24:15-30; Revelation chapters 6-18). The rapture is imminent; it could take place at any moment (Titus 2:13; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Corinthians 15:50-54). Why is it important to keep the rapture and the second coming distinct? 1) If the rapture and the second coming are the same event, believers will have to go through the tribulation (1 Thessalonians 5:9; Revelation 3:10). 2) If the rapture and the second coming are the same event, the return of Christ is not imminent-there are many things which must occur before He can return (Matthew 24:4-30). 3) In describing the tribulation period, Revelation chapters 6-19 nowhere mentions the church. During the tribulation-also called “the time of trouble for Jacob” (Jeremiah 30:7)-God will again turn His primary attention to Israel (Romans 11:17-31). The rapture and second coming are similar but separate events. Both involve Jesus returning. Both are end-times events. However, it is crucially important to recognize the differences. In summary, the rapture is the return of Christ in the clouds to remove all believers from the earth before the time of God’s wrath. The second coming is the return of Christ to the earth to bring the tribulation to an end and to defeat the Antichrist and his evil world empire.

We are told to be wary of those claiming Jesus has returned, and to watch out for the Antichrist, so no. What you have said is not accurate. "Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. . . . At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect-if that were possible. See, I have told you ahead of time. So, if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the desert,’ do not go out; or ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it.” Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.” Just don't go crazy with it.

It was Noah who was “taken away” from the destruction. He was set aside while the destruction was happening. I don’t know how anyone would say that it’s the people who were “taken away”, when they were clearly left there to die, they weren’t “taken” out of the scene at all. They were left right where they were to die. It is NOAH who was removed from the scenario that destroyed everyone. He was “taken away” from the turmoil. And then, when it was safe to “return”, after the destruction was over, he disembarked and returned to terra firma. I don’t know how anyone would see it the other way around.

It's so sad that many don't believe what the Bible actually says. The Bible uses the word Harpazo, which means taken away by force, which the word Harpazo in Latin means Rapturus which we take the word Rapture. You don't have to use the word Rapture but the word used is "taken away" which means again, taken by force same word used when God took Enoch, Elisha, and Paul to Heaven! People need to actually do their homework. Rapture didnt start with Darby, the doctrine is in the Bible just like the Trinity is in the Bible.

Ever wondered why it says in Acts 11:19 > Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only. The apostles were merely obeying what Jesus commanded them - go not to the Gentiles but only to the lost sheep of Israel. It's only after Paul's conversion that the gospel of grace "to the Gentiles also" was preached. Rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15) makes perfect sense because it explains what seems as some apparent contradictions between the 4 synoptic gospels and Paul's gospel. The Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven (on earth) was preached by Jesus to the Jews of those days to demonstrate and reassure them of a coming fulfilment of the promise of the Father to the patriarchs and prophets at the appointed time. (Christ's second coming is at a time that is indeterminate to all, even the Son). Mark 13:32-33 > But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. It's also true that the prophetic programme for Israel and the Jews has been postponed after the stoning of Stephen (the sign of the rejection of the Holy Spirit) and particularly after the mystery hidden in God [1 Corinthians 2:7 & Ephesians 3:4-6 ] from the beginning concerning the Gentiles has been revealed through Apostle Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles. At His second coming He will establish His Millennium reign from Jerusalem (after He judges the nations that come up against Israel) and He will rule through David on his throne over Israel and the world. He will also fulfill the Ezekiel prophecy concerning the dry bones coming to life in the land of Israel when He brings to life the Old Testament Jewish Believers (including the Patriarchs and Prophets) that predate His incarnation, and sprinkle them with water and give them a new spirit i.e. born again, with water and spirit [Ezekiel 36:24-26 ] and they will reign with Christ for a thousand years. (the "born again" above are "part of the first resurrection" and therefore have no part in the second death). He will both purify their lips and also restore the purity of the Hebrew language and over a generation or so, Hebrew will be the universal language of governmental administration. Other languages will fade away and thus the prophecy that "tongues will cease" will be fulfilled.(1 Corinthians 13:8) The rapture teaching hovering around the onset of the great tribulation or in that period is based on two or three assumptions that are not really tenable for multiple reasons and ignoring verses that point away from those assumptions. John 17:15, 20 > I pray "not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil"... Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on Me through "their" word; (though "I pray not ... take them out of the world" is directly addressed to the Jews at that time, it has general applicability). 2 Thessalonians 1:4-9 > ... patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: ... you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be "punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord", and from the glory of His power; (Contrary to most preachings the Great Tribulation is not the wrath of God but the work of the Antichrist and Satan - and in any event Paul states we are to endure persecutions and tribulations; the wrath of God that Believers will be spared from is the everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord at His third coming and for that alone we should be grateful). 2 Corinthians 12:2-4 > I knew a man in Christ ... one caught "up to the third heaven". And I knew such a man ... How that he was "caught up into paradise", ... Paul narrating the vision states that he (probably John) was caught "up to" the third heaven but that he was caught "up into" paradise. Notice the difference in words "up to" vs "up into". Upto means close to get a peek but still outside heaven while into paradise means inside paradise. After the resurrections on the last day of the Millennium reign, this the First Earth will pass away and thereafter the New Earth will come down from Heaven and God will dwell with Believers for eternity. - Revelation 21:1-2. John 14:2-3 > In my Father's house are many mansions: ... if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. ["a place" is referring to incorruptible covering if rightly read along with 2 Corinthians 5:1-8] 2 Corinthians 5: 1-4 > For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, ... eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: ... For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life." 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 > For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." The above verses do not state that He will come to take you to Heaven; on the contrary it means that where He is (on the New Earth) at the appointed time according to His purpose and plan, you also will be. He does not operate a shuttle service to take Believers to Heaven on their death. Remember Enoch is not in heaven else the Word of God will not declare in John 3:12-13 > ... And no man hath ascended up to Heaven, but He that came down from Heaven, even the Son of man which is in Heaven. Besides, it says in Psalm 115:16 > The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD's: but the earth hath He given to the children of men. There will be no mass ascension of Believers to Heaven even at His second coming for multiple reasons according to the Scriptures e.g. (i) in John 6:39,40 & 44, three times He clearly states "raise up at the Last Day." (ii) in 1 Corinthians 15:52 it says " In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, "at the last trump": for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. (iii) in Job 14: 12-14, it says "So man lieth down, and riseth not: "till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep". O that Thou wouldest hide me in the grave, ... until Thy wrath be past, that Thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! ... all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come." [from the corruptible to the incorruptible]. Finally, at the end of the millennium at His third coming, Satan, Death and Hell are all cast into the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:10, 14) and then there will be the resurrections - (i) Believers will be gathered unto Him and Resurrected to Life (part of first resurrection) as promised and (ii) all others (atheists, agnostics, religion followers) to the Resurrection to Judgement when He will judge them not according to what mortal Man considers as good works but on His standard of righteousness and it's possible that He may well have mercy or compassion "on some of them" e.g. Romans 9:15-16 > For He saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. As one who believes that all of the Word of God is Truth, in context and time, this is the only possible way that has no contradictions.

Question: Question: When you miss a train or an airplane or a boat... do you say ''Ah... I have been taken aboard'' or ''Oh dear! They've gone without me, and I have been left behind!'' Clearly, we say the latter (''''Oh dear! They've gone without me, and I have been left behind!'' ) One can easily imagine those very words were said by those LEFT BEHIND outside of Noah's Ark. IN CONTEXT, Jesus' words ''... the one shall be taken, the other left behind'' clearly imply that being TAKEN - ie: entering into or being taken into the safe place made by God - is a GOOD THING. We WANT to be taken on board the Ark... or taken into Heaven to be with Christ in His celestial Jerusalem. Further, why did Christ promise his Faithful that He was making rooms in Heaven for His faithful? When would these rooms ever get used, if the Faithful are only destined to rise into the air... and then return to EARTH to reign with Christ on Earth? If these rooms are never to be used, then this is tantamount to saying Christ is a liar. What are the rooms in Heaven being used for? Occasional rent when we visit the Celestial City?
