You really have to push on the seat. The foam will give to get your hand back there.

Got to give credit where credit is due. My son bought his first truck 2004 f150 lariat extended cab. I found this video, shared it with my husband. After several attempts and failures. I jumped in and tried and almost gave up, but I was able to push the tab in with my thumb instead of my index finger. And now my son can fully enjoy his “new” to him truck. Thanks again for saving us $170 at the dealership for them to run codes. (Not that we would have done it. He would have just lived without the key code at that price 😂)

I tried and tried and finally had to remove the side trim. I think some trucks are a little different or maybe the seat has been removed before? My arms are not big at all, so sometimes it’s not as easy as it looks.

This is the most detailed video I’ve found on removing the rear seat. I’m going to mount my amp for a subwoofer on that back wall

Thanks for the video. Wish I had seen your video first! I got mine off using a large screwdriver to release those tabs. HUGE PITA... but I 'got-r-done'. Then I removed those tabs so I never have to deal with them ever again. My reason to remove the seat was to get the door code. It's behind that seat (drivers side). Pull that trim back and you'll see the code stamped on it. Or at least that's where it is on my '04 Lariat 4x4.

Broo, I’ve tried so many times and couldn’t get it to unhook. Then i did the pushing down on the seat, and it unhooked so damn fast, did it under 5 minutes. Thanks!

I tried Myself but couldn’t do it. It’s too tight. So I used a flat screw driver and my friend’s help. After five minutes I made it. I got the code!!!!

Thanks for the video, but I can't even get my hand around the seat, much less behind it.

Update: I mounted the amplifier on the back wall. Once I took off the seat 2 or 3 times decided to just cut those tabs off. It doesn’t affect the stability of the seat at all because there are three tabs at the top that slide into the truck. My recommendation is to cut the tabs after the first time removing

Trying to take the seat out made me wanna give up on life 😂

There are hooks on the back of the seat towards the top. You have to make sure those go into the slots.

Does this work on supercab as well ?

I believe so. I think it is actually easier on the supercab however I haven't tried in over 11 years.

Just need to find someone with twigs for arms and I am all set to remove the back seat. Not a chance I will be able to do it

The seat removal did not work on my 2005 king ranch as the seat is too thick to reach around.

Well that doesnt mean it doesnt work. You just need to push harder to get around the seat on the king ranch. The seats are more plush.

Why hasn't anyone made an afyermarket quick release for these?

There should be a rubber seal at the bottom of the window, you should be able to see it if you pull it back a little. I'm in the process of changing my cables and the motor..... Still working on how to get to the motor though lol

Yeah this doesn't work on the 07 lariat, literally no room to get my hand back there and I have fairly small hands

Yeah mine are solid in the back, I can fit my hand about an inch until my forarm gets stuck unless I use a pry bar

I understand how I need to move it but I guess I’m not using good technique bc when I try to pull the tab it feels like I’m about to break my radial bone bc of the angle idk maybe me arm is too fat

You didn't show how to remove the bottom of the seat... I'm really disappointed in Ford to see the back of the seat is all one piece. I really wanted to only remove the 60 and leave the 40 for use as a regular seat.

I tried this and my cloth seats are so tight i can't get my hand behind on either side. My hands are smaller than yours.
