The biggest difference is there's no endemic drug problem in Japan. Alcohol in Japan is the same price as soft drinks/Coca cola/Soda pop. Hard drugs turn people into crazed animals ☹️

If you have an old Android phone or tablet, there's tonnes of great free Japanese Language apps. If you run the phone/tablet in Airplane mode after you've installed the apps the battery will last 5x longer and there'll be no ads to bother you either. My young son is learning Japanese and Maths on a 10yo Samsung Tablet I got from a Charity shop for $20. Even an old device can be very useful as long as it runs Android 5 or better. Watching NHK World on KZread is also helpful for general knowledge about Japan. I hope this is helpful to you 👍

I learned a lot from your fine video . Due to the high costs of living there are more and more homeless people all around the world my friends . The work place also has become more automated , leading to not needing to higher people to do the work . Companies face higher costs every year and this leads them to replace us all at the drop of a hat in order to meet the customers need in away to remain completive and pay investors . Today they are the homeless , but the next day it could be anyone of us living a life that we did not plan for .

Thing is, in the USA if you go to jail, that’s a death sentence for jobs. So even if someone applied with a record, they would get turned down if the restaurant had a strict background check. My friend tried to get a job for 7 years with a record and only managed to work at Walmart then fired in a year because they went to a funeral (which was approved by their boss.) So you can’t put everyone in the same boat .

aside from the assistance they received, usually homeless people in Japan who actually sleep on the street would tidy up their sleeping area, keep their boxes and stuff away early in the morning before the rush hour. then they'll go to work. that's why you don't see tents and whatnot. at most, you'd see the cans they collected like the ojiisans in the video. but even that, it's still very tidy and clean.

a lot of people in the comments complaining that the slums he showed in Japan are not slums lol. you need to understand that this is considered slum to them. yes, it's different from your countries, but it's their slum. appreciate the difference, don't get defensive. just because you're poor and homeless doesn't mean you have to do drugs or be dirty. there are homeless people sleeping in makeshift tents and cardboard boxes in Japan. but they're not lazy or dirty like the typical image we have of a homeless person. they'd tidy up their areas first thing in the morning and then go to work or school or hangout. they'll pull out their boxes and find a place to sleep late in the night when there's no one around. that's why you rarely see them. they don't hang around on the streets looking like zombies in broad daylight like in your countries. they're almost invincible. but these days I heard there's a rise in runaway teenagers being homeless and living on the street, which has become quite a problem in Japan especially Tokyo.
