Where do Formula D drivers go after the FD dream is over? Nate Hamilton and his $200k rocket ship.
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video Aaron Losey chats with @144.natehamilton Nate Hamilton from Formula D fame, about his 2023 Toyota GR86 drift car. He just finished his full crazy pro drifting car build, but I have no idea what it is for so I wanted to chat with him about it and find out! We look the car over, chat about it, make some jokes, and relive old times! Please enjoy this video.

Man Aaron is the most consistently unintentionally offensive person on the internet. Good chat.
It’s crazy how fast everyone switched up from winters to bulldog. Don’t cheap out on your castings kids

Well the thing is, quick changes were never designed for drifting. It was designed for circle track stuff. Drifting puts a lot of stress on the drivetrain.
aaron should do an interview with larry chen. 2 people not paying any attention would be great.

as a skater that’s finally getting into drifting with a 2nd gen BRZ, this is so cool. the skate/BMX and drifting crossover is real, and i love it

Nate is a great friend! Im excited to see this car in the future ❤
All right, I’m in. Full support love Toyota thank you Mr. Toyota for making race cars
I remember Nate on the XDC series back when he used to do vlogs on Vimeo maybe 12 or more years ago. He was probably the first driver to do it at the time. Great success with his marketing skills, seems like a very likeable guy also so fully deserved in my book 👏

I did an interview about that which was very interesting! He spoke about how he wasn’t even really aware the vlogs were being filmed and how his friend made those for him, and how well they worked. Very interesting!

@@LoneStarDrift I must have missed that interview but thats incredible to hear! Thinking deeper about it, it could be close to 15 years ago as I was just starting drifting myself and wanted to see more of it worldwide. As you know Aaron, it was a time when there was no media like we have now. Those Vimeo vlogs reached all the way over to Ireland back then! It was so cool to see other living that drift lifestyle, long before it became so widely used on this platform in these modern time 👍 love these interviews Aaron, keep it up!
Not built for pro competition, goes and takes top qualifier spot in first LZ world tour, on his first run. Car looks butter smooth just as he claimed. Sick car Nate.
Good to see Nate again. Great content.
Talking about tracks, I know in NH we used to drift at Canaan motor club and at the NHMS but we lost both. Now there’s plans to build a purpose built track called Drift NE. But they also haven’t even broken ground yet and it was announced like a year ago…

I’m from Qc but I often am in NH for work, the track in Tamworth was it ever driftable?
The whole plan and set nate has created i think is one of the biggest inspirations and moves in drifting of recent I really hope more people are able to forge the same path. Not many people seem to take this approach on the business side outside of competition being the main focus.

Really enjoyed this video. Thank you!
i remember buying his merch from his sister in a wendys parking lot back in the day, so cool to see how far homies come!
I just saw that beautiful car at the LZ world tour in Bakersfield. It was gawd dayuuuumnnn amazing
This is like when a sport transitions to “freestyle” from “competition”. Like what happened with surfing.
I couldn't agree with Nate more on the fact that we need more big events "centrally" located. Now being from way up north our definition of central may differ haha
Alot of 90's kids who were into skateboarding and BMX got into cars when we got older.
Nate doing it for the skaters 🤙🤙

From the start!
They are starting the dream in Bryant Alabama at the Driven Luck Circuit.
Accelera use to make a tire, that i liked to use for Mexico(mucho suspension tuning). Wish they'd make it again but 15's are so out of trend because people like big heavy wheels. That and it's so annoying that drag radials don't last these days.
Idk if I’m tripping Nate sounds like pappadakis 🤣
We need at least an OSW style skid pad in coastal SC. Nate come build one!!!
Love to see Nate doing well!
Always loving the life style of LITTLE TAX ❤
It’s crazy how sponsors rather sponsor a car that drives lzfest over fd cars.

If you watch drift masters you’ll see that the GR 86 is one of the most popular chassis for drifting right now. Heck a couple in formula drift as well
Man I’d love to work for 144 racing
Love those arches. I know that’s controversial, but they were cool with that Octagon, kind of shape.
I appreciate Aaron making these, and his questions..but the obvious hater energy really burns me out. Imagine if Aaron was positive, and empowered his interviewees during this, opposed to being a hater, and throwing lowkey shade the whole time. Try to excite and surprise the person being interviewed. I want to wish this was longer, not shorter. (See Tim Ferris or Nardwuar) Much love to Nate and this build..love his approach and mindset with this one..By far one of the most gangster GR’s in the world!

Do something for the guys like me who are learning to drive, have a car but struggle with starting out. It’s hard for me as a beginner to find places to drive for practice without paying 1000$ for a day of driving without tires. Like E towns 250 for 2 hrs. I’ll drive 3 hrs each way to drive for 2 so to have beginner events to just help us drive and learn w no pressure. A lot more people would try if they knew they had a good place to drive without spending 2 weeks pay for a day of driving.

Yeah i'm lucky where i live there are literally 3 beginner friendly drifting entities in the surrounding area. However, drifting is not for poor people like skating is. I'm almost ready to quit because prices keeping going up and up.
I'd love to drive this in Assetto, but have good actual data behind it. Surely someone with skill can collab

Time to bring this car to The Berrics and then lead into a Gymkhana style city approved thrash
just a noob question of a designer who starting to do some competition car wraps... what's the thing with that "trend" of do all decals backwards on one of the sides of the cars!? (i love the balance of that, but that's affect the reading... maybe it doesn't matter! all its matter is look cool... that's it!?)
@144.natehamilton

@@144.natehamilton god bless japan!!!! lol make that "cool" just solve a HUGE designers concern lolol
Try 20-50M to build a track. So much more than just pouring the asphalt. Designing it alone is the most important part to do it right and usually thats multiple 7 figures alone
its a beautifull drift car but with all these mods, every nut and bolts, wiring, powertrain, absolutly everything is changed, can we still call this a GR86 🤔 anyways car is sick and it will do great things ✌️ and has alot of style for a pro car 👍 great video ! keep drifting fun ! 🤙

If you change everything, but the block of a 2JZ is it still a 2JZ? You're putting all these parts onto a GR86 not the other way around. There are people who body swap though 🤷 the Sorensen's actually drive around E46 chassis.
Walkerpro Motorsports made my turbo manifold and downpipe!!! How do I get a job with someone like this? I am a mechanic
Hey Hey i have my cars ls1 running on a base map with hptuners who can tune it using the license i have??
call it "144 Land"
what if you ship this car to japan and compete in d1gp
Love how Aaron has a different opinion to everyone who builds cars for mass appeal and not just another cookie cutter LS S Chasis...
I don't see the skating/drifting crossover. Skating is super approachable and accessible for everyone whereas drifting is exactly the opposite.
Can Nate hook me up with just 4 tires. I need some tires. A hook up would be the blessing I need
