It's getting so close to opening day and we are rushing around to get the off-season projects completed. I feel like I spent more time looking for tools and parts than I spent on fixing actual issues... Just one of those days in IT!

cat5e can do 2.5gbit. I think it can do 10Gbit wrt signalling theory, but lots of physical factors could limit that

Oh yeah, CAT5e is way better than just plain old CAT5, which we unfortunately have too much of floating around in the hotel. You're correct that CAT5e can carry 10gb over short distances in the correct conditions.
