I'm surprised you didn't mention that a good portion of the founding team is from Dice, not just the CEO. A lot of the talent behind most of the good battlefields.

I don’t know about ark raiders but what I love about the trailer for The Finals is that 90% of it is actually gameplay footage or just gameplay footage shown from different camera perspectives. The game really does look that good and everything you see with very few exceptions can be done. That is really rare from a studio. So many trailers are over the top and exciting for in the end turn out to be 99% cinematic cgi and may show stuff that isn’t even possible or remotely similar to the final game!

Not only does The Finals look insanely good, but it is also a blast to play. I hope Embark completes Arc Raiders, it looks great as well. I will be following their work, they have a ton of potential.

Excellent video! Knowing the fact the Embark Studios is a collective of ex-DICE devs makes me have a lot of faith in this new studio. The games they made for the BF franchise were nothing short of awesome and brilliant. Their departure from the franchise was felt in the latest BF2042 instalment. But I'm glad that their talents are getting better realised than what EA perhaps made them do.

Excellent video. I'm excited to see where this studio goes, 8 months since this video was uploaded and The Finals seems to be doing well.

I like the deep dive, that was a lot of fun! always keen to see what's going on behind the scenes in making cool games

Thank you for the well researched video! Now that I know more about the studio's background I can tell that The finals will be more of a casual fun kinda game instead of a "competitiveness at all costs" game, which I'm all for

Great video. The great art in both these games really caught my attention too. I've been playing the finals beta and so far its convinced me to believe the hype with embark. There's been a lot of balancing changes already which keeps everyone trying new stuff. It's pretty limited right now with only one game mode and 2 maps but the destruction and loadouts help it not be the same game every time. If they're serious about being able to quickly add new content I think it has a bright future. Still really excited to try arc raiders and I think its interesting both games have this colorful arcade aesthetic mixed in

Great video, I got interested in the finals and wanted to know more about the embark studios. I wanted to buy their skins lol, but I hate buying skins unless its for a dev team that works towards the community. Thank you for the info

I will be able to die happy when they release Arc Raiders

They're former original DICE, as in the original DICE that made Battlefield 1942, 2, Bad Company, 3, 1, etc. and Mirror's Edge. That's why the game visually looks so much like Mirror's Edge in terms of crisp, clean, high contrast urban environments, and has the insane detail and damage of Battlefields 3 and 1. They were of course originally based in Stockholm, and if you've ever seen their trailers for any of the previous Battlefield games or Mirror's Edge, you'll understand how they make such amazing trailers too. This is also why BF 2042 sucks - it's not made by the actual DICE studio (who had left before that) but "DICE LA" which was another unrelated studio EA rebranded.

I can't express how good the finals is, apart from the gameplay. Its free, polished, bug free (pretty much) , and just well designed overall.

THE FINALS is an amazing new spin in the fps genre I'm 140 hours deep into the finals and now I'm sad the beta is over

I am so excited for The Finals and for the potential esports scene. High hopes for Embark Studios

I knew something about the finals reminded me of the old battlefield games. I still cant understand what it is exactly, but its definitely something.

I put about 80 hrs into the finals so far and cant wait for the release the game ran really good

as a Open beta player of the Finals (Open Beta was from this year around October to November and it has crossplay), I've had a huge blast playing the game throughout the whole open beta week before it goes away once again recorded some of my best plays and funny bits On my honest opinion of the game, its really better to play the game with friends, communication and teamwork is key to victory :3

140 hours in the finals, Amazing game truly addictive and fun!

played the playtest of the finals, OH MY GOD ITS WHAT IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR, ITS FAST, SNAPPY, AND DESTRUCTIVE. Strategic, most games are unique because of the environment changes, and the roster of weapons is big but not overwhelming like tf2 or MW2.

I know you might think I'm crazy😂 but it's okay, the finals is one of the games that is underrated , and not a lot of annoying kids play it, but my opinion it has to be one of the best games I played in my life in that saying something

THE FINALS IS LEGENDARY

Back when I played the finals in October during its beta testing, I felt like I knew nothing about the who made the game, just like most of the "sponsors" in the finals.

I guess most of developers don't make trailer video, there are different CGI studios like BLUR, UNIT IMAGE.... ( if u search KZread by theses names, studios that worked on LOVE DEATH AND ROBOTS) they do these kind of work. But these two trailers have less cinematic and more gameplay capture footages, so i guess in house editor did their job very well. ❤️

Oof, I’m watching this on December 11th, the day that The Day Before’s studio shut down 😂

that's a good point.. they haven't mentioned yet how they're going to be making money. i know they've gotten a lot of help from Nexon, but that's about it

8 hours in the game and only after watching your video and noticing someone in trailer attach c4 to a trash bin then throw it explained my question i had... why the hell are there throwable trash bins lmaoo.. :) when servers are up n playable first thing i ll do is attach c4s and all kinds of mines to all kinds of throwable stuff.. this game possibilities, creativity with environment and loadout is giving me goosebumps and its open beta only.. had low expectations and now i think i found new favourite game :o and its F2P woah

is it true that Glen Schofield, president of Visceral Games (closed by EA) & founder of SledgeHammer Games (Call of duty) inspired a lot of these Embark Studios devs?

I had started my bachelors degree in computer science specifically for game development. I quickly lost all interest in it when I saw the way game development was actually done. Corporate companies looking to make a buck wherever possible. However, that was before I discovered indie games. I first played Hollow Knight in 2019 and I thought, "wow, how's this game so good?". I later found out that it was made by a small team of guys who had a story to tell. That's what got me interested again. That's what I thought game development was about and seeing how Embark is playtesting their game, it's clear they care about what they're making. I am currently playing the beta and I have to say that even for a beta version, it feels like a fully fleshed out game. The graphics are amazing. There is a solid foundation upon which this game can take shape and I really look forward to it. Edit: I'd also like to say that another big reason I lost interest in game development myself is that the few internships that I did at the "Biggest game development studio in Pakistan" was actually a nightmare. You ever see those shitty hypercasual games that are designed to extort and scam money out of kids? Yeah, that's what's being made here. So, I wasn't gonna work in an industry like that. My plan with some classmates is to make our own indie studio somewhere in the future soon after we graduate.

it's a shame what happens when greedy companies get involved with something that used to be driven just by passion. i'm glad you haven't given up though because there are some amazing games made by tiny teams! and it's also good to hear that The Finals is turning out differently from most other AAA/f2p games... if they can do it and have success, then maybe more studios will follow in their footsteps

I love the finals but since release some people complain it uses AI voices and stuff about replacing Voice actors blah blah blah. I didn't care but I thought it was for financial reasons being a first game release and all HOWEVER after learning stuff you talked about using AI voices is 100% logical. One of the big difference of Indie games and AAA games is voice acting so most small games (independent made) do text talking for characters but tho I think AI voices will never be as good as voice actors it GREATLY closes the gap giving more budgeted starting developers a chance to make the game they truly want to make.

You mentioned they do tech research and discovery but told nothing about their innovative destruction system used in THE FINALS...

Great video. I have been following the decline of Avalanche Studios' Generation Zero lately, trying to determine why they haven't been able to put out quality content since the pandemic and since Arc Raiders is drawing some similarities thematically, I thought I'd look into the company. I was surprised to see that a)both companies are housed in Stockholm and b) Generation Zero's "Product Owner" has not worked on that game for nearly 3 years now, but has also worked with Embark's CEO on over 20 games. I'm now curious if Embark has poached any talent at these other studios, leaving them with nothing more that mediocre developers incapable on moving their games forward? 🤔

I was speaking shit of Patrick when he said gamers are undereducated, and attributed the doom of battlefield 5 to him. but later after I played Battlefield 2042 and amazed by the most unfinished, buggy, and feature missing game disappoint of the century, I realized Patrick was thrown off the bus by EA. Now I really hope the embark studio can make a game similar to Battlefield 1 or 5 that gamers enjoy.

Embark CEO is the guy who ruined bf5. Embark is owned by Nexon who is evil, basically the EA of Korea. Nexon and ea are tied and have worked together before... Basically embark is an ea games rebranding.

The finals is good. But their support sucks, their linking systems sucks. I csnt even link my steam and playstation accounts to the same embark id.

Before anyone gets excited, remember that Soderlund is almost single-handedly responsible for some of the worst years of EA. There is a reason he is gone from EA, and has been replaced by someone who is working hard to fix the damage caused by Soderlund.

No crosshair size customization - big L, everyone trying to use a better crosshair with an overlay get banned - another L. Cannot sign in error - no info anywhere had to dive to their discord to have someone send a link thats nowhere else found to register - another L.
