Yes! From what I gather, Orlando is a good option but, homes a pricy!! Any other cities you recommend?

No it's the crime that Florida has is why I never moved down there even when housing was cheap or reasonable.
I live in central Florida 300 yards from the Atlantic ocean. 2004 we were hit by 4 hurricanes but nothing major, If you look at the shape of Florida central Florida curves into the west. Many hurricanes continue north and hit the Carolinas. I love living on the coast close to the beach and of course I have hurricane shutters and a whole house generator.

I chose inland. Id rather experience strong winds occasionally than live in a fire, earthquake, water surge, freezing temps or volcanic zone. Pick your disaster. No place is safe or perfect all of the time, but Florida is nice most of the time.
I was thinking about Amelia's island area. Do you know much about that area and the outskirts of it?

It’s a beautiful area!
Avoid ALL coastal areas and you should be fine. I always buy a home inland, at least 50 miles inland. Orlando is very hot in the summer and very cold Dec/Jan/Feb. I know, I have lived in Florida for 30 years. I have been to Orlando in the summer, winter, fall and Spring. The weather sucks for most of the twelve months.

How safe is it to live in Florida? What with sink holes and hurricanes and violence. At 76 year old l couldn't cope with any of that.

I think it depends on where you live in Florida. There are lots of quiet areas that are slow paced and beautiful. I live in the city of Orlando but I don't see violence and sink holes are extremely rare. The last one I recall was about 25 years ago in Orlando. We don't get the force of hurricane winds like the coastal areas. We do take precautions with hurricanes however.
Nowhere really!

@@KathyWilliamsOrlandoRealEstate I've been to Orlando 3 times. Once in November. Once in December. Once in. April. Every day was over 90 degrees and the humidity was terrible. I lived in Florida for more than 20 years. Like every place there are good and bad things about Florida. Most of the Year the weather isn't great.
