When you want to dance but only have 2 points of articulation. | STOP-MOTION ANIMATION

Ойын-сауық

Here's a stop-motion animation about a Playmobil figure who is inspired to dance by a highly-articulated action figure.
Animated using a winder from Kinetic Armatures.
The taller poseable figure is a Knights of the Slice design.
I make videos with the help of direct support.

    has anyone been able to successful reverse engineer the way they put together the joints to make the figures have that much articulation?

  • @SirKat-mo7bd

    @SirKat-mo7bd

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@jetpackjackson yeah, i did it last night while messing around with one of my figures, i have the juzo inui one and the frame differs from the sinthetic human in an extra balljoints, also the ball joints have holes on them to avoid build up of the pressure and the material that covers them is kinda a mix of poms ( kinda what lego did with their new build system for hero factory and bionicle) . Main frame : for this is divided in a two ball jointed frame joined by two 2.5 mm cross screws Ball at the hips : consists of a circular cap inside a cavity that allows that movement(same for the arms for the exception of a piece that allows more movement ) . Head : consists of a "double lock system" ,static balljoint integrated to the frame with a moveable joint on top of that and a doble joint piece at the end . Legs : typical 1/12 legs as for the exception that they hide their extra plastic inside. Feet: normal 1/12 feet with an adaptable reviltech type like joint that allows for a beatiful ankle. Arms,wrists : tipical 1 /12 articulation. Broke the trigger that i already fixed on my juzo figure and losed a pair of hands of my sinthetic human, the trigger of juzo can be easily fixed as for the hands ....well i will find those some day. Also if someone reads this and it has the killy (blame) figure or the etherow (aposimz ) figure from 1000toys that is willing to sell, please reply back, i want those in my collection ( ones of my favorite figures at that) I can make some plans if someone needs them with their respective measurements, but it would have to wait till i finish mu tests ( should have thinked twice when i choosed engineering 😞). Also i might been wrong in some things, but you get the idea, don't use too much force when triying to pull apart them, some spots take more energy when dissasembling them and therefore they are more prone to break.

    Dude, you nailed it! That's some of the best action figure stop animation I've seen. Right up there with the DBZ figurine stop motion work around these parts. Also, hilarious editing / camera angles.

    I can imagine how long this took, and that subtle transition when the first action-figure turns to look at the other one, 0:16 that was so natural and smooth. Good job! 👏🏾

    You are an absolute master at this. Very, very impressive. As others have mentioned, this is perfect not only for the animating itself, but also the camera angles, the timing, and especially the way that you capture the way the dancing character 'talks' to the other character simply by the tilt of the head. I opened the video, and from the preview image thought that both charcters were going to be super stiff. I'm amazed. I don't know how you pulled this off so well with what looks the be a plastic figure that has just a few joints. ( I have done some very crude animation in the past, so I respect your work even more ! )

    I am working on pixel art game character animations right now and I deeply appreciate how much effort you must have put into that incredible 44 seconds of dynamic movement. Proof that video needn't be long to be awesome.
