EVERY SEASON other than the summer is good to visit kolkata,, Christmas is also quite fun, at that time the park street area is quite lit, many people also visit st Pauls cathedral at that time,,, But kolkata is famous for Durga puja, but its going to be quite crowded because many people come from outskirts at that period.

I barely trust the street vendors in New York. My dad grew up there and they called hot dogs, "Dirty water dogs", so that tells you the quality of the food carts.

Hey Max!!I hope you and Chris visit Kolkata in October during Durga Puja. Believe me you'll love it here. Hop in decorated pandals and you'll get to see beautiful statues of goddesses being worshipped. Each pandal is decorated based on a theme and looks absolutely gorgeous inside out. It lasts for a week and im sure its gonna be your best week spent in Kolkata. All of kolkata is decorated with colourful lightings making the nights dazzle like daylight. And ofcourse there are yum food stalls nearby every pandal. Yeah the crowd does go insane especially the last 3 days of the week. So the earlier you go pandal hopping the better imo. But the crowd is worth it. I really really hope you and Chris can come visit Kolkata once again during this time. Its the best time to enjoy the beauty of Bengali culture when everyone goes out in traditional ethnic wears and is in their best look. Its the time to unite with family , friends and relatives and just have fun. You'll surely have a great time here!!♡

@@MohitKiJourney you get papri chat for 20? Where are you from! A good papri chat from established shops costed ₹ 40 in 2017, and ₹70 in Haldiram when I used to live in kolkata. Even in small towns where prices are lower papri chat is never any less than ₹30. Now there are many things I don't like about kolkata, but food definitely is not one of them, kolkata is wayyyy cheaper than other metro cities when it comes to food, no city beats the kolkata food prices. Although I agree 100 is too much, but that's the deal with the chhapri people in Esplanade, Gariahat, parkstreet. As these places are often visited by non locals, they get away with it. Most locals would never go to those people.

The mobile back cover guy was overcharging, those are usually sold for 70rs-100rs. If you have time you should visit the hill side, Darjeeling, but I would suggest you to visit there around Dec, you can get some great views of Kanchenjunga then, right now it will be cloudy as it is rainy season over there

Being a Bengali and with experience of 24 years of staying in Kolkata, I request you all ( Foreigners / Indians) to avoid Esplanade road Hawkers market at any cost. This road is full of Muslim Hawkers and they are infamously known for passing lewd comments to ladies, shoppers and everyone except their own community members. Police is not allowed there ( due to political reasons) and you are literally on your own. They have their own gangs and you might face abuse to molestation as well!!! Kindly take this as a humble request everyone and please DON'T GO THERE!!
