I have no idea why KZread is suddenly pushing this to everyone, but if you are a non cuber here is some info for you: - No, Speedcubers do not memorize every solution in existence to do these solves. - The solution in the video was 8 moves. An average 2x2 solve is probably around 13-18 or so moves. - the time was 0.98 - Yes we get to look at the cube beforehand which allows us to plan out our approach to the solve. We get 15 seconds.

I understand that I'm only seeing a tiny tiny sliver into these people's lives and even this specific interaction, but calling out an insane time just to get the wow factor afterward is emotionally selfish, he was jerking himself off. The judge, who was shutting him down, is also a tool for not being the bigger guy. Maybe this kid was a tool all night and he deserved it, who knows. ikr the judge wasn't having any of it today..

He spends more than 45% of the time in this clip moving his hands to and from the cube, not actually solving it... This is incredible. If you go frame by frame he does 7 of the moves within one frame. On the fifth move he has to reposition his right hand and it take 6 frames. He takes 8 frames to grab the cube and 3 to touch back to stop the timer. Based on the stats for nerds section, this is at 24 fps, so that means he spent approximately .46 seconds moving to and from the cube, and about .52 seconds actually solving.

It's just a funny thing to see someone spinning the cube for a microsecond and slapping it down "DONE!" and then his brain catching up and going "Oh shit, I DID do it correctly!!"

Getting recommended in 2021, sadly Cubing is kind of dying in the countries without competitions

it is incredible you did this it was a very easy scramble from what i saw but it aint easy enough to get sub 1 good job

I'll just say I've improved my 3x3 times significantly even though I'm using a old system.

To all the non cubers, No, this isn't staged. The solver gets 15 seconds to plan the moves they'll make to solve the cube. 8 moves for a 2x2 solve is pretty common, solving 2x2's under a second is really common too, The fact that he called it is the fascinating part. Yes,a cube can be "spun" even more than 12 times in a second if you're skilled enough. Feel free to ask any questions!
