I live and teach in Japan and something I haven't seen noted in the comments (at least as far as I can see) is how relevant the original video is for Japanese people. The thing is, central heating is seriously rare here; most people get through winter with localised heating (kerosene heaters, electric blankets being the most affordable) so it seriously sucks balls in winter here. The average apartment or house also has terrible insulation, at least compared to the Canadian houses I lived in. My students all resonated with the original video so much they all showed their parents the song, which is a major achievement if you ask me.

"According to the documentary, Nyango is an apple which has been inhabited by the spirit of a dead cat, and now has drumming superpowers which enable it to play some pretty insane metal behind the kit. The mascot originates from Kuroishi City in the Aomori prefecture, which is famous in Japan for its apples." It's really fascinating.

The unspoken message of the song: At many points of our life, we'll have to move outside of our box, our warm comfort zone, in order to achieve something for the greater good. Whether it be something as trivial as simply getting out of bed to go to the washroom, or something bigger such as confessing to someone you might like. Whatever that uncertainty is, we can only prepare and push forward, or stay back and do nothing.

I find it funny that this drumming actually isn't even really metal, it's a pretty standard rock beat, just played faster than usual. I'd say it's the closest to punk rock, of all things (or J-rock which it pretty much is). Deathcore specifically is much heavier than that (and is generally amongst the heaviest genres rhythm-wise), although some other metal genres could be pretty close to this video. Now excuse me, I'm gonna go jerk off to how amazing and knowledgeable I am.

this is a song called 布団の中から出たくない (futon no nakakara detakunai) by 打首獄門同好會(uchikubi gokumon tōkōkai) just as the name implied, the song is about "I don't want to get out of the bed" (cause it's warm and it's freaking cold outside) the band usually has a heavy rock & metal style in thier music but the topic of the song are usually trivial and casual, such as: "日本の米は世界一(Japan's rice is world number 1)" "筋肉マイフレンド(Muscle My Friend)" "はたらきたくない(I don't want to work)" (personal favorite) "シュフノミチ(The way of Household husband)" (anime opening of 極主夫道)

On the surface, this song has the following meaning: Someone wakes up in the morning in a cold ass room. They don't want to leave their futon, since it's nice and cozy. Plus they need to use the bathroom. But underneath that surface, we get a beautiful message about how the outside world is often cold and unforgiving. The difficulty of leaving our comfort zones. The desire to crawl back into our shells at even the slightest discomfort. We need to ask ourselves: what is my futon? My futon is my house. Inside I feel the most comfortable. I don't have to care about anything or what others may think. What is your futon?
